Friday, March 9, 2001                                                             Edition: #2008

We’re all geared up for another weekend of not watching the XFL, so here’s some . . . .
BS XFL CHEERS . . .
• “Give ’em heck, give ’em hell . . . Or else it’s back to Taco Bell!”
• “You cannot lose, you cannot fail . . . Your mama’s counting on that bail!”
• “It’s all right, it’s okay . . . No one’s watching anyway!”

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Grammy bosses are suing Napster for allowing free downloads of Elton John & Eminem’s “Stan” duet, saying it’s lost them so much potential money for charity, there may be no point in releasing the single . . . Buzz is ‘N Sync’s Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears recently visited Michael Jackson’s Neverland estate to talk about possible future collaborations (this may qualify for ‘Bonehead Career Move of the Year’) . . . 57-year-old sleazy TV interviewer Geraldo Rivera’s new squeeze is CNBC producer Erica Levy, who’s 25 (he’s 7 years older than her FATHER!) . . . The extra episode CBS-TV is adding to “Survivor 2″ to goose ratings in sweeps month will be made up of unused footage and out-takes (we can only hope for more graphic pics of Michael’s skin peeling) . . . The “Survivor 2″ finale is now moved back to MAY 3 (giving you more time to set up a viewing party promotion!) . . . And because you really need to know — Christina Aguilera is said to have BOTH nipples pierced (that’s nothing, [your co-host] has all three!).

TODAY’S MOVIE OPENINGS:
Robert De Niro and Edward Burns play a homicide detective and a fire marshal who team up to solve a case in the thriller “Fifteen Minutes” . . . Kirsten Dunst stars in the teen comedy “Get Over It”, about a guy on the rebound who suddenly takes notice of his best friend’s younger sister.

GINGER BREAD:
New Hampshire inventor Dean Kamen, who sparked worldwide excitement in JANUARY when word leaked of his mysterious new invention, code-named ‘Ginger’, appears to be working on a revolutionary engine that provides cheap, efficient power, reports the “Boston Globe”. If so, the paper notes, it would bring the inventor incredible riches.

GOLF COURSE:
“Wall Street Journal” reports there are now 8 American universities offering golf as a major. Yep, you can actually graduate with a degree in golf and about 1,400 students are currently attempting to do just that. (Instead of a BA, you get a PGA.)

BETTER THAN VOTING MACHINES:
The state religion of the West African nation of Benin is Voodoo, but last month the ‘Voodoo Pope’ died. A new leader will be chosen THIS WEEKEND when the ‘right ray of sunlight shines on the right man at the right time’.

LOOK MA, NO HANDS!
Here’s the latest poll on the dumb things we do while driving – a new Progressive Insurance survey finds 69% admit to eating, 12% apply makeup or shave, 7% read, and  44% talk on mobile  phones. The survey also finds men are more likely than women to steer WITHOUT THEIR HANDS. (Have a nice commute!)

THERE’S NOTHING LIKE A LUNCH SONG:

Take any song on your playlist and edit in the word ‘lunch’ for the word ‘love’. (“LUNCH Don’t Cost A Thing”, “What’s LUNCH got to do with it?”, “LUNCH in an Elevator”, “LUNCH Hurts”, etc)

BS TAG LINE: Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
