BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ The Tin Man’s oil can from “The Wizard of Oz” is going up for auction. The oil can is remembered for its use in the scene in which the Tin Man is set free from his rusted state, and it is said to be the only original item in existence from the iconic character’s costume. The rare piece of movie memorabilia is being auctioned off for the first time through Kruse GWS Auctions, and is expected to fetch at least $200,000. In terms of significance, the Tin Man’s oil can is right up there with Dorothy’s ruby red slippers. It is currently on display at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The auction begins March 26.

★ Rob Gronkowski and Miranda Cosgrove will take over Nickelodeon next month. The network has announced that the NFL superstar and “iCarly” actress will be co-hosts of the Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2022, which will air live on Saturday, April 9. The show will, of course, feature tons of slime and pranks celebrating fan-favorite stars of film, TV, music and sports. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2022 will air on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons and the Nick Jr. channel.

★ Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk suffered a broken femur, apparently while skateboarding, but he’s not done yet. He took to Instagram with the news of his injury, posting a photo of his X-ray and a video of himself on crutches, writing: “Yesterday sucked. I broke my elbow 20 years ago and managed to make a full comeback; this recovery for a broken femur will be much harder because of its severity (and my age). But I’m up for the challenge.” Undoubtedly the most famous skateboarder in history, Hawk also has an HBO documentary about his career coming soon, titled, “Until the Wheels Fall Off.” Ironically, he said, the trailer for that documentary was released on Wednesday.

★ “The Batman,” last weekend’s biggest movie, had an unexpected element introduced to a screening in Austin, Texas. According to reports, on Friday, at the Moviehouse & Eatery theater, an unidentified guest unleashed a live bat, which then began flying around the theater (as bats tend to do). Management attempted to lure it out of the auditorium by shutting off the screen and turning on a light in the hallway. Apparently, that didn’t work, and while everyone was offered a refund, most decided to stay and watch the movie, bat or no bat. No word on how the person smuggled the bat into the theater. (What a Joker!)

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Justin Bieber – Drake wants more Timbiebs. Bieber’s Tim Hortons donut collab debuted in Nov., but are no longer available. In an Instagram story, Drake shared a photo from fitness trainer and supplement supplier Mike Van Wyck that included the caption, “Really upset that they got rid of the Tim Biebs.” Drake reposted it, tagging Bieber, and writing “let’s right this wrong.”
• Kesha – doesn’t “ever” want to release music that her idol Dolly Parton wouldn’t like. Kesha still gets “teary-eyed” just thinking about her cover of Parton’s song ‘Old Flames (Can’t Hold a Candle to You)’ – which Kesha’s mom, songwriter Pebe Sebert, co-wrote. Despite the pair’s connection, she is still yet to meet her idol.
• Eminem — After a huge boost in streams following his Super Bowl Halftime show, the Recording Industry Association of America has announced 73.5 million new Gold & Platinum Program certifications for him. He’s now the #1 awarded musician for singles in the program’s history, and 1 of just 7 artists with 3 or more Diamond Album Awards.
• Red Hot Chili Peppers – are among the big names set to play the Louder Than Life festival Sept. 22-25 in Louisville, KY. Co-headliners are Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot, and KISS for the event, which attracted over 160,000 people in 2021. Other notable acts on the bill this year include Alice In Chains, Alice Cooper, Bring Me The Horizon, Evanescence, Shinedown, Rob Zombie, Incubus, Lamb of God, and Papa Roach.
• Kiss — Nearly 50 years after releasing the legendary drinking anthem on their debut album, the group has unveiled its official “Cold Gin” beverage. It’s the fourth entry in the “Drink It Up by Kiss” portfolio, following “Black Diamond Rum”, “Detroit Rock Rum” and “Monstrum”.
• Bob Dylan – His first book in 18 years is set for release Nov. 8. 12 years in the making, “The Philosophy of Modern Song” is a collection of more than 60 essays examining other songwriters’ material.
• Kacey Musgraves — will receive the Vanguard Award at the 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards. GLAAD’s Vanguard Award is presented to “allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.” The GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on April 2.
• Thomas Rhett — Many fans were surprised to find out he has 2 new albums coming out this year, but no one was more surprised than his wife, Lauren Akins. Rhett shared a TikTok of her talking about his upcoming “Where We Started” album. In it, Rhett is in complete disbelief when his wife says, giggling: “I knew you had Side A and Side B because that makes sense. Then you said you were coming out with this middle one … It was shocking to me.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2n2eyd76
• Tenille Townes — will release the new EP, “Masquerades,” on April 22. She has also announced a UK/European tour for October. The 6-date run, some of which is part of UK Country Music Week, will see her visit Scotland, England and Germany.

WHO COMES UP WITH THIS STUFF?
➠ There’s a ‘wheelie’ big social media debate going on these days. We’re not sure how huge the implications are, but here goes: Auckland, New Zealand, resident Ryan Nixon asked on Twitter March 5: “Does the world have more wheels or doors?”, and of course, a lot of people felt the need to share their opinion. The tweet went viral, amassing over 15,000 likes and 4,500 retweets (at last count…). The Twitterverse war of words featured some choice comments, such as . . .
• “There’s wheels on everything. I have wheels on my garment rack, makeup storage holder, rubbish bin. It’s definitely wheels.”
• “There’s double the number of homes in the world than there is cars Then there are other types buildings too…shops, businesses etc. On top of that, most vehicles have many doors too.”
• “Do we count steering wheels and spare wheels?”
• “Wheeled constructions always have doors. Doored structures don’t always have wheels.”
Out of 223,347 votes, 46.4% of people voted for more doors while 53.6% picked wheels.
(Well, it’s a lot less mean-spirited than SOME online debates I’ve seen lately!)
➠ (***Caution-name***) Annnnd . . . the latest dating term is: “Doppelbanging”. What does it mean? It’s the term for dating someone who looks like you. Apparently, couples formed of duos who look alike have become a thing, so ‘doppelbanger’ it is! A play on ‘doppelganger’, the German word for a nearly identical look-alike, the trendy phenomenon has certainly been observed among some celebrity couples. According to Cosmopolitan, the term originated in the LGBTQ community. Celeb examples include: Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, Kristen Stewart and fiancée Dylan Meyer, and, of course, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. (The first couple I thought of is Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli . . . but I’m old!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ Police were left scratching their heads when a boat was found abandoned in a street — tied to a “No Parking” sign. The Irwindale Police Department tweeted that an officer found the boat parked without a trailer at the side of Los Angeles Street. Or, as they put it in their Twitter post: “Ahoy, you can’t park there! At least the captain was kind enough to anchor his boat to the street sign before he abandoned ship.” The boat was removed by city crews and taken to the local tow yard. Sgt. Rudy Gatto said the boat’s registration was out of date, and a notice will be sent to the owner. The boat was not apparently stolen. (But apparently, the trailer WAS!)
➢ Flawed design and poor communication — including an operator’s decision to flip a switch clearly marked “Do Not Operate” — were the main causes of an island-wide power outage in Taiwan last Thursday, according to a government investigation. A failure at the Hsinta coal-fired power plant led to blackouts across multiple regions, including the capital Taipei. In the hours before the power plant failure was confirmed as the reason for the disruption, speculation swirled online that the island’s grid had been targeted in a cyberattack. A maintenance team had done work there on Wednesday, and warned operators not to route electricity through the equipment. The next day, despite a yellow and red warning notice attached to a control panel, a staff member pulled the switch. (You literally had ONE job . . .)

DID YOU KNOW?
How often have you heard the anguished cry from your partner: “I’ve got nothing to wear!”? Despite that common plea, a recent survey found that people have an average of US $268.44 worth of clothing sitting in their closet – that they have never worn. About 80% of the 2,000 UK respondents to the survey said they regularly wear the same clothes, and just 6% said they have worn everything in their wardrobe at least once.

He then gave or sold trees to pioneers who depended on apples as a staple in their diets.
