★ This morning the full cast for the 24th season of ABC-TV’s “Dancing With the Stars” is being announced on “Good Morning America”. Here’s what we know so far: the new ‘celeb’ roster includes Heather Morris (“Glee”), Erika Girardi (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), 65-year-old actress/comedian Charo, “Saturday Night Live” alum Chris Kattan, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, former “A-Team” star Mr T, professional bull rider/model Bonner Bolton, and Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei. Season 24 premieres March 20th. (Not sure what else “GMA” can possibly tell us.)

★ 51-year-old JK Rowling has teased the script for the sequel to “Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them”. The “Harry Potter” author has taken to Twitter with what looks to be a script inscribed ”written by JK Rowling”. She’s further whipped fans into a frenzy by captioning the image: ”Having a Beastly day.” Not much is known about the 2nd film installment except that Johnny Depp is playing dark wizard ‘Gellert Grindelwald’. Shooting on the project begins in London and Paris this August with an opening scheduled for November 2018. (Have we reached JK overkill yet?)

★ Today Danielle Bregoli (aka the ‘Cash Me Ousside’ girl) is visiting Hollywood CA to meet with reality TV show producers. Danielle’s managers have apparently been contacted by 7 production companies and are taking meetings to check out possibilities. 4 of the companies are interested in doing a reality show with Danielle and her mom. The 13-year-old has also been getting other offers – big bucks to show up at bars – where everyone else has to be 21. Her claim to fame? Challenging the laughing audience on “Dr Phil” to a fight by saying “Cash me ousside” (“Catch me outside”) last September. (Kid, your 15 minutes are just about up.)

• fun. – Nate Ruess (35) & designer-wife Charlotte Ronson (39) have become first-time parents, welcoming son Levon Ronson-Ruess earlier this month. Charlotte’s siblings, producer Mark Ronson and DJ Samantha Ronson, are said to be thrilled with the new arrival.
• John Legend – He’s lined up to be the mentor for Adam Levine’s team on this season of “The Voice” (NBC).
• Metallica – Tonight their “Worldwired Tour” begins in Mexico City, Mexico. Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, and Gojira are opening select shows during the tour.
• TLC – Their fan-funded album is set to be released this Summer. The girl group, now consisting of Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas, created a Kickstarter campaign in January 2015 to fund the new recording, their first since 2002.
• 2 Chainz – The rapper has hired new managers after his new restaurant in Atlanta GA failed a health inspection. Mold growing inside the ice machine, lack of proper food storage, and undercooked meat earned his Escobar Restaurant & Tapas an ‘unsatisfactory’ grade.
• U2 – They’re being sued for allegedly stealing elements of a song by Brit singer-songwriter Paul Rose on their single “The Fly”. The tune went to #1 in the UK in 1991 as lead single from the album “Achtung Baby”. It seems Rose has just noticed it resembles his track “Nae Slappin”. He wants $5 million in damages, a songwriting credit, and his legal fees paid.

POT NERDS:
Smarter teens are twice as likely to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol than their classmates, new research out of Britain shows, but they’re far less likely to smoke cigarettes. London researchers who tracked pot, booze, and tobacco use among 6,000 young Brits aged 11-to-20 report there are some differences among age groups. During their early years, clever kids are less likely to smoke cigarettes but more inclined to drink. By their late teens, the smart set is 50% more likely to sample pot or use it regularly. Ditto for drinking alcohol. The researchers speculate that brainy kids may be more curious about new experiences and winning acceptance from adults. High-scoring kids are also more likely to come from more affluent families with access to alcohol and parental warnings against tobacco use.

CAN’T STOP:
Nearly half of Millennials fear their addiction to social media is having a negative effect on their mental and physical health. A new survey by the American Psychological Association has found about 90% of people aged 18-to-29 are using social media, up from just 12% in 2005. About half (48%) of those polled are concerned about how much time they spend on social media and worry about the negative effects on their physical and mental health. But while young users fear social media is making them ill, they say they still can’t stop. More than a decade after the emergence of smartphones, Facebook, and Twitter, a profile is emerging of the ‘constant checker’, someone so attached to their gadgets they are constantly checking texts, emails, and social media accounts. This group registers stress levels that are 20% higher than average.

• ‘Conversational Commerce’ – Retail companies that use messaging, digital assistants, chat apps, or Q&A dialogue to make it possible for consumers to simply ask for what they need.
• ‘Filter Bubble’ – The media sources (whether Facebook, favorite news sites, or preferred TV channels) that reinforce an individual’s viewpoint, thereby not exposing them to any other views.
• ‘Iceberg Home’ – A home where what is seen at ground level is only a small part of the structure, with the rest being underground.

ALL ASMR, ALL THE TIME:
Insomniacs are fueling the popularity of YouTube videos that feature what’s called Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It seems many find that ASMR causes them to drift away into la la land. People may have different triggers – whispering, light touches on the face, hair brushing, etc – but the end result is a tingling sensation that can be so calming it initiates sleep. And since the term ASMR was coined back in 2010, there’s become a burgeoning sub-genre of ASMR videos on YouTube, some that get millions of views and lead to sizable sums for their creators. One of the most popular is the channel ‘Gentle Whispering ASMR’, which has more than 880,000 subscribers. (Careful, you may drift off listening to this …)
