Monthly Planning Calendar in Today’s Issue!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
This week they’re shooting the wedding reception and accompanying scenes for “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” in Squamish, British Columbia (Twihards swoon!) . . . Charlie Sheen, seemingly with way too much time on his hands, has now been spotted in a recording studio with Snoop Dogg and Rob Patterson, former touring guitarist for Korn (just a warning) . . . Actor Rob Lowe (“Parks & Recreation”) tells the new issue of “Vanity Fair” magazine he used to compete with Sheen to see who could party hardest and still kick ass on-set the next day (the victor: “Charlie by a nose”) . . . Meantime, in the upcoming 10th and final season of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (USA Network), actor Jay Mohr will guest-star as a Charlie Sheen-type famous and successful bad-boy who continually attracts trouble (art imitating life) . . . Actress Jennifer Aniston will become a first-time director for a short film on “Project Five”, a 5-part series for the Lifetime network (after “Just Go With It”, “The Switch” and “The Bounty Hunter” she’s decided she wants to direct) . . . Word has it “Glee” (FOX) may do an episode based around Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” – a 90-minute episode (we smell burnout before Season 3) . . . Actor George Clooney’s name is on a list of 78 witnesses who may be called during Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi trial next month (“Yes, I swear to tell the truth – that IS a totally awful toupée) . . . And thanks to stalled contract talks, by the time “Mad Men” finally begins its 5th season in March 2012, it’ll have been off-air for over 17 months (how to smother a hit!).

TODAY’S SHOW BIZ SKED:
• “American Idol” (FOX/CTV) – Performances by will.i.am w/Jamie Foxx (“Hot Wings [I Wanna Party]”) from the new animated film “Rio”; Fantasia also performs; 2 contestants are eliminated.
• “Conan” (TBS/CTV) – Thompson Square perform their hit country single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not”.
• “George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight” (CBC) – Robbie Robertson (“How to Become Clairvoyant”).
• “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC/CityTV) – Sum 41 (“Screaming Bloody Murder”).
• “Last Call With Carson Daly” (NBC) – Grouplove (“Canvasback”).
• “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (NBC/A Channel) – Duran Duran (“All You Need is Now”).
• “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS/Omni) – Funeral Party (“The Golden Age of Knowhere”).
• “Lopez Tonight” (TBS) – Snoop Dogg (“Doggumentary”).
• “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC/A Channel) – Mary Mary (“Something Big”).

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• The Beatles – The owners of website BlueBeat.com have agreed to pay EMI Records $950,000 to settle a copyright infringement lawsuit, which claimed the site sold Fab Four songs for 25 cents apiece before they went on sale legally through iTunes. (Wow, good idea eh?)
• Beyoncé – After guiding her career since Destiny’s Child, her father Matthew Knowles is no longer managing her through his company Music World Entertainment. The split was apparently a ‘mutual decision’. (By Jay-Z.)
• Justin Bieber – The hair he recently had chopped off when he altered his look is on tour. It’s now on display in Miami FL, where fans can pose alongside it in return for a donation to tsunami relief in Japan. Don’t even think about stealing it … the mini-mop is escorted by a bodyguard.
• Katy Perry – Today MTV Networks are hosting a day-long ‘celebration’ of her new sci-fi music video “ET”, featuring Kanye West. (Wonder what this cost?)
• Miranda Lambert – In the new edition of “Us Weekly” (out tomorrow) she reveals 25 things we don’t know about her. Among the more intriguing: She has more than one tattoo; doesn’t know how to make gravy; and she wants Carrie Underwood’s legs.
• My Chemical Romance – Tonight in Oakland CA they kick off a Spring tour of North America in support of their latest album “Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys”. Neon Trees and The Architects are the opening acts.
• Sheryl Crow – When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she vowed to eat healthier on the road. So she’s written a new cookbook alongside chef Chuck White, “‘If It Makes You Healthy”, featuring wholesome recipes that are so easy, you could make them on a tour bus.
• Willie Nelson – The El Paso TX judge in his pot possession case says the prosecutor’s idea that Willie could get off by paying a fine and singing “Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain” for the court is a joke that got out of hand. She says Willie won’t be treated any differently from anyone else.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” – Plans are underway for this to become the 4th movie in the film franchise inspired by the CS Lewis book series. The previous instalment, “Voyage Of the Dawn Treader”, generated over $400 million worldwide.
• “Hemingway & Gellhorn” – Clive Owen & Nicole Kidman will star in this HBO film about author Ernest Hemingway & his 3rd wife Martha Gellhorn. Metallica’s Lars Ulrich has a small role. The movie began filming in San Francisco CA this month and is due sometime in 2012.
• “Knocked Up 2” – Megan Fox (“Transformers”) is in talks to star in this sequel to filmmaker Judd Apatow’s 2007 box office comedy hit. Paul Rudd & Leslie Mann are set to reprise their roles in the follow-up but it seems the film’s main stars, Seth Rogen & Katherine Heigl, are not.
• “Oz, The Great & Powerful” – This Sam Raimi-directed Disney prequel to the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz” will star James Franco (“127 Hours”), and Mila Kunis (“Black Swan”) as a good witch who morphs into a wicked one.
• “Superman: Man of Steel” – It’s been announced Amy Adams will play ‘Lois Lane’ opposite British actor Henry Cavill, who was previously announced as ‘Superman/Clark Kent’. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner will play his adoptive parents. The film’s due in December 2012.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME:
A new study by the American National Academy of Sciences has found that our enjoyment of life dwindles through early adulthood but begins an upward trend in our late 40s, and continues to increase until reaching a peak at … age 85. How so? Good health and a secure income are important in old age and elderly people today benefit from better health and opportunities than 30 years ago. In addition, psychologists believe we become more selective in old age with how we use our time, focusing more on doing things we enjoy and cutting out parts of life that make us unhappy. (Like crawling out of bed every morning to go run on the treadmill.)

ANOTHER WAY FOR MUSIC TO PLAY:
Amazon.com’s new ‘Cloud Drive’ is the first so-called ‘music locker’, which allows users to store about 1,200 songs on the company’s web servers for free instead of on their own hard-drives, and play them via music streaming on computers and smartphones. Amazon has beaten rivals Google and Apple into the ‘music locker’ market. They were expected to launch similar services at the end of last year. The delay might be explained by the fact that some within the music industry think the service might be illegal. (As if that’s ever mattered. Witness FrostWire.)

CANDY COATED:
Oral biologist Israel Kleinberg of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook NY has found the solution for dentist-hatin’ kids … cavity-fighting candy! Made from chemicals in saliva, the candy mints are fluoride-free and protect teeth in 2 ways: They raise pH levels to neutralize acid; and they protect the minerals in tooth enamel. In tests, kids who ate 2 of the mints twice daily for a year had fully 68% fewer cavities. (“Time for bed, kids. Eat your candy and then lights out!”)

FAITHFULLY FAT:
An unusual new study at  Northwestern University has found that people who regularly attend religious activities are 50% more likely to battle obesity by middle age. God only knows why … the scientists sure don’t. The study tracked nearly 2,500 men & women over 18 years. They filtered for age, race, sex, education, income, and baseline Body Mass Index. That last one’s important, because it shows that the religious are getting fatter, not that fat people are getting religious. (This is easy to explain: Prayer breakfasts; church socials; potluck suppers …)

PASS IT ON:
Scientists have confirmed that, like yawning, itching can be ‘caught’ just by watching someone else having a good scratch. Dermatologists at Wake Forest University have shown that the sensation of an itch can be caught visually in what is called ‘Itch Transmission’. It’s thought itching is contagious because the brain becomes hypersensitive when someone nearby scratches and then misinterprets any kind of physical sensation on our skin as an itch. (Hey, feel that on your forehead? Go ahead, try NOT to scratch it.)

BS AMAZING FACTS:
• More than 20% of the world’s population lives in the time zone GMT+8, which includes China, Malaysia, the Phillippines, and part of Indonesia.
– BBC World
• A new report in the medical journal “The Lancet” has found that the rate of obesity worldwide has doubled since 1980. Some 500 million people now qualify as ‘obese’, and 3 times that number are merely ‘overweight’.
