BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “America’s Got Talent” has filled its two vacant judge chairs. “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara is joining the hit reality series as a new judge for this summer’s 15th season. And Heidi Klum, who was a judge on AGT for six seasons from 2013-2018, is coming back. Vergara and Klum will be joined by returning judges Simon Cowell, who is AGT’s creator and executive producer, and Howie Mandel, as well as host Terry Crews.

★ America Ferrera has announced that she is leaving the sitcom “Superstore” after five seasons. She plays ‘Amy’, who has managed the “Cloud 9” big-box store since the show’s start in 2015. In a statement, Ferrera said that “The last five years on ‘Superstore’ have been some of the most rewarding, enriching and enjoyable years of my career”. Ferrera was also an executive producer at “Superstore” and directed a few of the episodes. MSN is reporting that the Season 5 finale will be Ferrera’s last episode. It has already been announced that there will be a sixth season of the show.

★ Marie Osmond says that she doesn’t plan on leaving any of the Osmond fortune to her seven kids when she dies. While guesting on “The Talk” on Friday, she said: My husband and I decided, I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children and that’s the ability to work.” Osmond said that “you see it a lot in rich families” where the kids don’t know what to do and end up getting into trouble. Like the late Kirk Douglas did, she plans to give her money to charity.

★ Joonas Suotamo must really like playing ‘Chewbacca’ in the new “Star Wars” trilogy – because he has announced that he’s named his newborn daughter after the legendary Wookiee warrior. Suotamo, who is from Finland, wrote on Twitter that he and his wife have welcomed a baby girl named “Bacca”.

• Billie Eilish — has announced that Jessie Reyez will be the opening act for her 2020 “Where Do We Go?” world tour. It begins in Miami on March 9. Reyez’s debut album “Before Love Came to Kill Us” comes out on March 27.
• Justin Bieber — is part of the star-studded Calvin Klein Spring 2020 campaign, and he strips down to just boxer briefs in the latest ad. He took to Instagram on Friday to share a short clip, in which he lounges, posts and stretches along a leather couch. Maluma, Lil Nas X and SZA are also part of the campaign.
• Maroon 5 — Adam Levine thanked Chile for ”giving him the opportunity to grow” on social media after reporters claimed that the band’s performance at the  Viña del Mar festival on Thursday was ”reluctant” and Levine was described as ”cold, reluctant and preoccupied”. As he was leaving the stage, video showed him saying: ”That was a TV show. That was not a concert.”
• Madonna — had a rough show on Thursday night in Paris when she fell off a chair and had to be helped up by one of her backup dancers. The Sun reported that she “burst into tears” after the incident. She is recovering from hip and knee injuries and has used a cane for several months.
• Jimi Hendrix – a series of 50th anniversary vinyl versions of his classic 1970 live album “Band of Gypsys” will come out on March 27. The cream, red, yellow and green swirl 180-gram vinyl pressings will also feature a photo and essay booklet and a replica of the original album’s poster.
• Metallica – have had a deep-sea creature named after them. The “Macrostylis metallicola” is a worm-like crustacean that lives in the depths off the coast of Hawaii. Researchers who discovered the new creature say they named it after the band due to the fact that it lives “amongst metallic nodules containing cobalt, copper, manganese, nickel, and rare-earth elements.”
• Chalk Circle – will play a reunion concert to benefit the Rethink Breast Cancer organization. “Be Tracy’s Ally” will take place in Toronto this Sat. “Tracy” is bassist Brad Hopkins’ partner, Tracy Sheridan, who lives with breast cancer, and the concert will celebrate her 50th birthday.
• Brandi Carlile – her new song, ‘Carried Me With You’, is featured in the Disney/Pixar film “Onward” (out this Friday). The song, which Carlile co-wrote, plays during the end credits of the film, and it’s included on the soundtrack, which dropped on Friday (Feb. 28).
• Thomas Rhett – His wife, Lauren Akins, has announced her first-ever tour in support of her upcoming book, “Live In Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes” (out May 5). The tour will kick off in Akins’ hometown of Nashville on May 2, and hit nine cities.
• Maren Morris – is not only celebrating her second consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for ‘The Bones’ (the first solo female back-to-back #1 since 2012), she has also announced “RSVP: The Tour” of North America, which will run from June through October. She will also headline the Houston Rodeo on March 7, her biggest show to date.

SURELY YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS:
In a time where the airlines all seem to be skimping on amenities (and legroom) in order to offer bargain-basement airfares, Air New Zealand has changed things up by introducing on-flight sleep pods. The airline unveiled the six-pod, triple-stacked bunk beds for economy travelers last week.  The “Economy Skynest” will provide six full-length flat sleep pods within the economy cabin. The beds are over 6 feet long and 22 inches wide with privacy curtains, sheets, blankets and pillows. The idea is that economy-class travelers will be able to book a pod to sleep in, in addition to their seat, on long-haul flights. No word on the cost, but an industry expert predicted they would need to be priced in the “hundreds of dollars” to be cost-effective for the airline. The pods could be in use by late next year.
(Yeah, but can you split the cost?)
(Is this an upgrade to economy-class, or a downgrade to luxury-class?)
(And you think people do some disgusting things in their SEATS…)

WHERE’S THE BEEF?
Vegan burgers are already a thing, but a new food-tech startup says its method of 3D printing plant-based steak can not only fool the tastebuds into thinking you are eating beef, but also offer a more sustainable food supply system. Novameat founder Giuseppe Scionti says “printing” their vegan steak allows them to offer the appearance and texture of a traditional steak. Using what he calls “Nespresso for meat substitutes”, the novel 3D printer uses syringes filled with plant-based ingredients that form a fibrous meat-like structure. “Printing” a steak takes about 20 minutes, and costs about $30 per kilogram ($13.61/lb). The price is expected to drop as it becomes popular in restaurants and in homes. They hope to make it available at a top restaurant by the end of the year.
(Sounds like U.S. Grade A bull to me!)
(I’m not interested unless they can print up some steak sauce too!)

I’VE FALLEN FOR YOU AND I CAN’T GET UP:
By now, if you’re into shows like that, you can pretty much figure out what going to happen on “The Bachelor” from the start of the season. Roses. Dates. Catty women. The Fantasy Suite. Ugly breakups. Hate to say it, but it’s getting old. So why not this? Last week, ABC put out a casting call for a whole new spin on the reality dating genre. The network announced that it is now “casting seniors looking for love.” A follow-up post said: “Are you entering your golden years and looking for romance? The producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing single men and women age 65 and up for a new exciting dating show.” And you can’t deny that this could result in some compelling television. Let’s face it: America has an aging population. And what age group is most likely to watch traditional, linear television programs?

(What should they call it? Definitely NOT The “New” Bachelor show!)
(Well, they could refer to the Fantasy Suite as a “Senior Moment”!)

HOW TO WASH YOUR HANDS – PROPERLY:
The best prevention against the coronavirus (and many other things…) is washing your hands. A lot. Here’s the proper way to do it:
☞ Wet your hands with clean, running water. Then, turn off the tap and soap up your hands. (That’s right, don’t be a weirdo who soaps up your hands FIRST…)
☞ Work the soap into a lather by rubbing your hands together. Lather soap onto the backs of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails.
☞ Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Sing or hum “Happy Birthday” twice through to keep time. (Especially effective in a public washroom…)
☞ Turn on tap and rinse your hands well. (This explains the soap scum all over the taps…)
☞ Dry your hands using a clean towel or air-dry them (or a bit of both).
☞ Hand sanitizer is an OK substitute if you don’t have access to soap and water. Hand sanitizers won’t get rid of dirt, chemicals or a few types of germs, but they’re better than nothing. (Also comes in handy if tap water is triggered by a sensor that doesn’t seem to recognize you as a human being…)
☞ Next, stand around the washroom until someone else enters, so you don’t have to touch the door handle!

DID YOU KNOW?
The garnish that the Barenaked Ladies jokingly longed for in 1992 has become reality. In their hit ‘If I Had $1,000,000’, the Canadian band sang about “the fanciest Dijon ketchups” to pair with all the Kraft Dinner (mac n’ cheese to non-hosers) they would eat – if they had a million dollars. The manufacturer of Kraft Dinner has finally created “Dijon ketchup” that it says has been “years in the making.” But it’s only releasing a very limited supply of 15 bottles to lucky contest winners. (They’re still not giving away a green dress, though…because “that’s cruel” …)
