You’re Up to Your Eyeballs in Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ In a stunning reversal, Chicago prosecutors have dropped all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett just weeks after he was indicted on 16 felony counts for allegedly filing a false police report.  36-year-old Smollett was seen arriving at a Chicago courtroom around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday for an emergency hearing. Following his court appearance, his attorneys released a statement saying that the actor was indeed attacked by two people he was unable to identify on January 29th, and now his “record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him.”

★ Nikki Bella is saying goodbye to the WWE. The professional wrestler has announced that she is retiring because her body can no longer handle the strain that comes with being…on the road.  Nikki, who used to be engaged to John Cena, said her most recent tour in Europe helped her make her decision.  During an episode of her reality TV show “Total Divas”, she said that “[The tour] was good but I just feel like I’m too old for that travel.” She’s 35.
(You’d almost think that the wrestling would be tougher than the travel…if it were real!)

★ The long-awaited third film in the “Bill & Ted” series is taking shape.  William Sadler, who played the Grim Reaper in “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” is set to reprise his role in the sequel. The official Twitter feed for the film announced the news on Monday.  Sadler joins Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the reunion film in which the now middle-aged Bill and Ted set out on a new adventure to fulfill their destiny to bring harmony to the universe through the power of their music. “Bill & Ted Face the Music” will begin production this summer, and the film is scheduled for release on Aug. 21, 2020.

★ Val Kilmer has been served with a lawsuit accusing him of ripping off an artist.  The artist, Bale Allen, had been selling gold-colored tumbleweed sculptures for years in art galleries around Texas and New Mexico when he discovered Kilmer was selling a knock-off of his work for $150,000. Allen says he reached out to Kilmer demanding he stop, but never heard back. He seeks unspecified damages and a court order prohibiting the actor from selling any art that infringed on his copyrights.

★ Bondage lovers will be happy to know that Goop, the company owned by Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has released a set of very special underwear made completely of leather. The lifestyle site also suggests some interesting leather accessories as an addition to the lingerie.  Also available: A nude Fleet Ilya handmade leather bra with special “open” cups.  Or how about a black leather flogger, advertised as “extra comfortable to grip”, which is said to please not only your hands but “in other ways too”.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Ed Sheeran — has become a board member for the Ivor Novello Awards – the prestigious annual British music ceremony which is dedicated to honoring songwriters. He joins the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.
• Justin Bieber – His wife Hailey shared video of him catching some Z’s in a hyperbaric oxygen tube. During the therapy, the lungs gather more oxygen than would be possible at normal air pressures, which helps fight bacteria and promote healing.
• Radiohead — An inquest got underway this week into the fatal stage collapse at their Toronto concert nearly seven years ago. The band’s drum technician was killed when a massive structure crashed down on him hours before the group was set to take the stage at Downsview Park.
• Michael Jackson — will remain in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Despite the allegations in the “Leaving Neverland” doc and calls for his induction to be revoked, an official for the organization said that he was “recognized for musical excellence and talent”, and any scandal doesn’t change that fact.
• Creed — Former frontman Scott Stapp has revealed a brand new song called ‘Purpose For Pain’, which will be on his forthcoming album “The Space Between The Shadows”.  He has also announced the first dates of an American tour, beginning June 20 in Oshkosh, WI.
• Sex Pistols – Following the success of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, A biopic based on their anarchic career is reportedly on the way. UK firm Starlight Films has been working on the project for the last 18 months.
• Luke Combs – received the exciting news from Carrie Underwood that he is this year’s winner in the Academy of Country Music Awards ‘Best New Male Artist’ category.  LANCO won ‘Best New Group’ and Ashley McBryde has been announced as the winner in the ‘Best New Female Artist’ category.  The ACMs will air live from Las Vegas on April 7.
• Carrie Underwood – has been announced as a performer for the 2019 ACM Awards — Eric Church, Country Music Hall of Famers Brooks & Dunn and Kelly Clarkson will take to the stage as well.  Also on the performers’ list: Dierks Bentley, Dan + Shay, Luke Combs Maren Morris, Kane Brown, and Thomas Rhett.  Previously announced performers include Brothers Osborne, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Brandi Carlile, Florida Georgia Line and Ashley McBryde. Jason Aldean is set to receive the Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award, and he is also scheduled to perform. The ACMs are on April 7.

ROLLING PAPAS:
As legalization of cannabis becomes more and more commonplace, it is also becoming more common for seniors in their 70s and 80s to add it to their list of activities, alongside things like golf and bingo.  Recent studies show that the 65-and-over crowd are the fastest-growing segment of cannabis users.  And while it is a fact that many of them used marijuana to get high in their youth, now they may be more interested in easing age-related afflictions such as arthritis and sleeplessness.  As an example, recently a group of about 50 seniors boarded a bus at a retirement community in Laguna Woods, California for a “field trip” to a local pot shop near Disneyland.  They spent much of the day choosing from a variety of cannabis-infused products, including candies, drinks and weed. Then, they stopped for a little bingo before heading home.
(Million-dollar idea!  Bingo bongs!)
(It wouldn’t have been the first tour bus that was loaded with pot!)
(Is it just me, or do you think that age group never really stopped using cannabis?  They’re just doing it legally now!)

COMMON EMOJIS YOU’RE USING WRONG:
➢ Smile With Tongue Sticking Out: Most think this one is a joking emoji. It actually is meant to signify enjoying or savoring food. (I see a tongue sticking out as a reaction to a lot of what I cook, but it doesn’t usually mean they enjoyed it!)
➢ Surprised Face: The one with the eyebrows raised and small circle for lips actually means ‘hushed’ rather than surprised. (Insert surprised face here!)
➢ Hi-Five: Yeah, actually that is supposed to be two hands praying…or saying ‘please’ or ‘thank you’. (Hi-five if you use it correctly)
➢ Peace Sign: Nope. It was designed to symbolize the ‘V’ for ‘Victory’.
➢ Hugging Face: You totally thought this one was ‘Jazz Hands’, didn’t you? Well, it’s not. It’s just an emoji wanting a hug.
➢ Sad but Relieved Face: Because of the one tear, it’s easy to get this one mixed up with a person crying, but it really symbolizes anxiety and stress.
➢ Poop: In spite of what you may have heard, this is a smiling pile of poop. Not chocolate ice cream. (Excuse me. I need to clarify a text I sent to my kids earlier…)

MENTAL SPRING CLEANING:
Spring is the season of fresh starts and new beginnings, symbolized by growth and new life. It’s a time when we’re encouraged to clean our homes and organize our lives. It’s also a great time to give a little attention to renewing your mental health.  Here’s how:
➠ Create a to-do list of short-term and long-term goals:  It could be reconnecting with an old friend or taking more time to do enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Having a set of goals can give you a sense of purpose and guide you toward your desired path.
➠ Improve your physical health:  Physical activity has been scientifically proven to play an important role in sustaining mental health and wellbeing. And an active lifestyle often leads to a healthy diet.
➠ Begin to renew your spirit:  Yoga and/or meditation can do wonders for the cleansing of the mind. Studies on the power of meditation have reported a significant reduction in negative energy. Yoga encourages self-awareness to help you attune to your physical and emotional needs.
➠ Improve your stress management skills:  Try not to dwell on issues that are out of your control. Learning to accept the situation is an important skill in reducing stress. And pay attention to what triggers your stress responses to learn and prepare for the next instance.
➠ Actively contribute to your community:  This may include volunteering for a cause that you care about, helping out a neighbor, or tending a community garden, which will help you feel good about yourself and your place in the world.
(***To co-host***:  Perfect!  There is a fundraiser on Sunday morning that I need you to host!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A study found the closer your surname is to the end of the alphabet, the more likely you are to be an impulse shopper, because if you were always called upon last growing up – for example, for school attendance — it creates a desire to be first at something – like overspending.
