Another Sheetload of Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Nicole Kidman has suffered a broken ankle while self-isolating at home in Nashville during the pandemic. Fans first spotted the injury after she wore a boot to husband Keith Urban’s benefit concert for frontline workers at a drive-in theater on Friday. Urban says she was “hobbling around” the concert to support him and celebrate the medical workers nonetheless. While Kidman shared photos and videos on Instagram honoring her husband’s tribute to healthcare heroes, she cropped her feet out; it wasn’t until another snapshot from the event was posted elsewhere that fans began to wonder why she was sporting the boot. No word yet on how she broke her ankle.

★ Brian Austin Green has opened up about parting ways with his wife of nearly 10 years, actress Megan Fox. On his podcast, “…with Brian Austin Green,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum said he and Fox have been separated for months, after realizing they’d grown apart. Green said Fox first confided in him that she felt that she would like to spend time apart last year, after she returned from several weeks of filming a project. Green and Fox have been married since 2010 and have three children together. Fox has recently been spotted by paparazzi spending time with musician Machine Gun Kelly, whom Green said seems like a “nice, genuine guy.”

★ David Arquette will reprise his role as ‘Sheriff Dewey Riley’ in the upcoming “Scream” reboot. Arquette said: “‘Scream’ has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.” The original “Scream” debuted in 1996 with Neve Campbell starring as ‘Sidney Prescott’, the target of the Ghostface killer, who had a look inspired by the Edvard Munch painting “The Scream.” Filming for the reboot is expected to begin later this year in North Carolina when safety protocols are in place.

★ Ken Osmond, who appeared in the classic family sitcom “Leave It to Beaver”, has died at the age of 76. Sources close to Osmond stated that he passed away on Monday morning, while surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles. His cause of death hasn’t been announced. He’s best-known for playing troublemaker ‘Eddie Haskell’ in Leave It to Beaver, but he also featured on shows such as “Lassie” and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.”

• Rod Stewart — A trainee nurse in Wales who faces a year of recuperation after contracting the coronavirus has revealed that he sent her a gift of $6,000 to help with her bills. • Reba McEntire – During an appearance on the “Today” show on Monday, she hinted at the possibility of a reunion of her sitcom “Reba” which aired from 2001-07. She said that she and the rest of the cast would “love to….and we’re all talking, hoping to get back together.”

SHOWER POWER:
As our day-to-day lives continue to changes amid the coronavirus pandemic, many people are joking (or bragging) on social media about skipping the shower or the bath if they don’t have to go out that day. But according to a number of experts, sticking to your familiar hygiene habits is not only essential to keep your body healthy, it’s also important for mental health. Bathing habits are being credited for helping our overall mood and well-being by keeping us on a regular schedule, helping our immune system, and as a way of “rebooting” our physical and psychological system. And even if you’re no longer working, that shower first thing in the morning is a way to start the day on the right track to productivity. On the other hand, an afternoon shower can serve as a way of stepping away from work, school or other tasks, allowing one to clear their head and get set for the next stage of the day. And an evening shower? You guessed right. It can calm you, allowing you to relax and prepare for a good night’s sleep.
(What no one has told me is how many times I’m supposed to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ before I can get out!)
(Of course, if you’re in quarantine with a wife and two teen daughters, your only choice is to shower at night…)
(And for me, being naked is a good way of ensuring social distancing!)

PLASTIC SUGARY:
Some day soon, we could all be sipping beer and soft drinks from containers made of plant materials. A company in the Netherlands is looking for investors in their pioneering project that hopes to make plastics from sustainably grown plant sugars rather than fossil fuels. The plan, devised by renewal chemicals company Avantium, has the backing of Coca-Cola and Danone, and hopes to eventually tackle the environmental damage caused by the 300 million tonnes of plastic that is currently made from fossil fuels each year. Avantium’s plant plastic would decompose in one year using a composter, and a few years longer if left in normal outdoor conditions. They say their product could appear on store shelves by 2023.
(Will they still be able to call diet cola “sugar-free”?)
(It decomposes in a few years? I guess that’ll will shorten the best before date a bit, then?)
(So it just disappears in a few years? I’m pretty sure I already had some Tupperware lids that were made of this stuff…)

SCIENTISTS SAY . . .
➢ A new study has found that just one fatty meal can seriously impede a person’s ability to focus or concentrate. On average, subjects were 11% less capable of concentrating after eating a meal high in saturated fat.
➢ Moths have long been seen as annoying creatures that leave holes in your clothes. But new research shows that they play a vital but overlooked role in pollinating flowers and plants overnight — visiting more plant species than even bees. The study found that nocturnal moths complement the work of daytime pollinators, helping to keep plant populations diverse and abundant.
➢ A team of scientists say that mouthwash could help with destroying the coronavirus. They analyzed previous studies that suggested active ingredients commonly found in mouthwashes could disrupt the lipid membranes of several viruses. However, it’s currently not known if the same can be said for the new specific strain of coronavirus the world is now contending with. (I know a few people who I’d like to volunteer for further mouthwash studies…)

If you’ve been feeling like the days blur together lately, you’re definitely not alone. According to a new survey of 2,000 U.S. adults, the average person forgets what day it is five times per week.
