★ And Johnny Depp’s dog smuggling case just won’t go away. He & wife Amber Heard are accused of failing to declare their pooches ‘Pistol’ and ‘Boo’ to Australian customs officials and follow proper quarantine procedures upon their April arrival Down Under, where Depp is shooting the latest “Pirates Of the Caribbean” sequel. Even though the Yorkies have been flown back home, a Senate investigation is pushing for a hefty fine up to $250,000 … or even jail time.

• Amy Winehouse – The ‘Ray’ and ‘Mr Hathaway’ references in her 2006 hit “Rehab” are to music icons Ray Charles and Donny Hathaway.
• BB King – Las Vegas PD has now confirmed that an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding his death after 2 of his daughters accused his longtime business manager LaVerne Toney and his personal assistant of poisoning the blues icon.
• The Beatles – A letter George Harrison wrote to Atlanta GA radio DJ Paul Drew back in May 1966 is being auctioned. It wasn’t until the radio personality died in 2013 that his widow found the item. Los Angeles-based rock collectibles dealer Jeff Gold is now asking $20,000 for it, promising it reveals previously unknown secrets about the Fab Four’s recording days.
• Drake – He’s revealed on his “Jungle Tour” that he’ll be ranking audiences in Chicago, Detroit, Houston, and Montréal. He promises to bring his OVO Fest to whichever city has the ‘craziest crowd’. He’s hosting his 6th annual 3-day OVO concert in his native Toronto this August.
• Frank Ocean – The 27-year-old has recorded his new album at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. His sophomore album, “Boys Don’t Cry”, is expected to be released sometime in July.
• Kanye West – An undisclosed settlement has just been made between him, Roc-A-Fella Records, and Ricky Spicer, who used to sing with Ponderosa Twins Plus One. • Katy Perry – The video for her 2008 hit “I Kissed a Girl” features a cameo from a then-unknown Kesha.

• Snoop Dogg – It’s taken him 43 years and 5 name changes, but he claims to have reformed his woman-insulting ways and says he’ll never refer to a female as a ‘bitch’ or ‘ho’ again. This is apparently all thanks to his daughter, mother, and grandmother. This is progress?
• Tyler Farr – He’s #1 on the ‘Billboard Country Airplay’ chart this week with “A Guy Walks Into a Bar”. It’s been a long haul. The song began its upward journey 42 weeks ago.
• U2 – They tell CBS News they feared their “Innocence + Experience” world tour was over on its first night, May 14th, after The Edge fell off the stage during an encore in Vancouver BC. Fortunately, while he suffered bumps & bruises, he didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
• Years & Years – The synth-pop trio aspires to write for other artists, including Ariana Grande and Take That. But frontman Olly Alexander admits they’ve been so busy making their debut album “Communion” (out July 10th), they haven’t had a chance to write or record with others.
FROM THE BS POLL VAULT:
A statistical look at who we are and the things we do …
• 50% of women and 10% of men keep their natural hair color hidden.
• 45% of guys will burn something on the grill at least once this Summer.
• 44% of drivers have an air freshener in their vehicles even though it no longer works.
• 20% of homeowners admit that they are jealous of a neighbor’s lawn.
• 15% of us say we’d be embarrassed if the boss saw our car.
• 8% of men say they’d give up sex in exchange for more hair.
MORE AIR = LESS GAS:
Want to save fuel on those long Summer highway drives? Don’t open the window. Crank up the air conditioning. While AC does increase fuel consumption, it’s more efficient than driving with windows open at highway speeds. That’s because open windows increase a vehicle’s aerodynamic drag, thereby making the engine work harder. A few other fuel-savers …
✓ Park in the shade so your vehicle doesn’t get as hot.
✓ Leave the windows open when you first start driving to clear hot air out of the cabin.
✓ If you’ve got a plug-in hybrid, pre-cool the car while it’s still plugged in. That uses power from the electric grid, not your car’s engine.

• “Sunscreen Protection Day”, to create awareness of the importance of using protection against harmful UV rays from the sun. A few tips on using solar protection products …
– ‘Sunscreen’ filters sunlight so less of it reaches the deeper layers of your skin. ‘Sunblock’, on the other hand, reflects or scatters the sunlight away so that it doesn’t reach the skin at all.
– ‘SPF’ is a multiplication number that stands for ‘Sun Protection Factor’. If you can normally stay out in the sun 15 minutes before burning, an SPF 10 sunscreen would allow you to resist the burn for 10x longer or 150 minutes. But the numbers can be deceiving: SPF 50 is only a 1% improvement over SPF 30 in terms of blocking harmful rays.
– UV-A penetrates deeply into the skin and can lead to cancer and premature skin aging. UV-B is involved in tanning and burning of your skin. You need a sunscreen that blocks both.
– You should slather on the goo even on overcast days as UV rays can penetrate clouds.
– Sunscreen is rarely applied in real-life as it is in lab-testing conditions. It sweats and rubs off, so your best bet is to re-apply a high-factor sunscreen every 2 hours.
– In general, follow the ‘Spoon Rule’: A teaspoon-full of sunscreen for your face, neck and ears; a teaspoon for each limb; and a teaspoon each for the front and back of the body.
