Ah, Some BS You Actually Look Forward to in the Morning!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Timothée Chalamet will be co-hosting the Met Gala. The 25-year-old “Call Me By Your Name” star has long made headlines for his fresh take on fashion. It’s been previously reported that poet Amanda Gorman and Council of Fashion Designers of America Chairman Tom Ford will also host. The plan is for Vogue’s gala, also known as the “Fashion Oscars,” to return in person this year with an American theme. Sources say the invite-only event — with solo tickets reportedly costing $30,000 and tables going for $275,000 — has already sold out. The event is normally held the first Monday in May, but has been pushed back to back to Sept. 13 in hopes that things will be more “normal.”

★ Rebel Wilson shared that she “got some bad news” amid her struggles to have a child. In a post on her Instagram account, 41-year-old wrote: “To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya.” She didn’t give any other details about her struggle to conceive, though she has been open with fans lately about her health, including her weight loss over the last year.

★ Elon Musk, who is already under fire from multiple directions for his upcoming “SNL” hosting appearance, is reaching out to the wisdom of the crowd. He asked Twitter to pitch some sketch ideas for him as he gets ready for an already controversial hosting gig this weekend. Musk primed the pump with three of his own pitches: “Woke James Bond,” “Baby Shark & Shark Tank merge to form Baby Shark Tank,” and “Irony Man – defeats villains using the power of irony.” One concept suggested by a Twitter user was: “Extraterrestrials found your Tesla Roadster sent to space in 2018 & are trying to figure out what it is.”

★ Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says that while he was growing up, people often thought he was a little girl. During an appearance on “Sunday Today With Willie Geist”, The former wrestler said: “I would say between the ages of 7 and 11, people thought that I was a little girl because I had really soft features and I had really soft Afro hair.” He described one memorable moment on the school bus on his first day of 5th grade, saying: “I sit down next to a kid, and within 60 seconds, he goes, ‘Can I ask you something?’” said Johnson. “I said, ‘Yeah.’ He goes, ‘Are you a boy or a girl?’”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Justin Bieber – His 2021 tour dates, which were originally scheduled for last year, but postponed due to the pandemic, have been pushed back again. The rescheduled tour was set to kick off June 2 and continue throughout the summer, but is now set for 2022.
• Billie Eilish – slipped into something a little more comfortable for her latest magazine cover shoot. The June issue of British Vogue features stunning photos of her wearing lingerie and showing off a never-before-seen tattoo on her abdomen and leg. Eilish posted a pic on IG with the words: “do whatever you want whenever you want.”
• Britney Spears – Her father, Jamie Spears, reportedly made claims that she was battling dementia on forms related to her conservatorship. That allegation comes from the documentary “The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and A Conservatorship,” premiering tomorrow. The claims have added to the tension building ahead of her June 23 appearance in court to speak about her conservatorship.
• Kings of Leon – Last week, they went from an NFT to the NFL. The band visited Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday to see a new exhibit featuring their venture into cryptocurrency, then they opened the NFL draft with their first live show in more than a year. In March, they made history by releasing their new album “When You See Yourself”, as a non-fungible token or NFT.
• Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram and Jon Randall — will give fans a glimpse inside the creative process of behind their upcoming album, “The Marfa Tapes,” with a full-length film dropping on Saturday. Available to view for 24 hours via Lambert’s Facebook page, it features live performances, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage captured during the 5-day recording sessions in Marfa, TX in Nov.
• Kacey Musgraves – fulfilled her “lifelong dream” on Saturday — by spending the day working at a snowcone stand. She posted pics of herself dressed in a colorful outfit (including a mask), serving free snowcones to Nashvillians from a food truck called Blue Monkey Gourmet Shaved Ice. The opportunity came after she inquired online if any stands were hiring. Blue Monkey replied, asking if she wanted to work for a day giving out free snow cones.
• Confederate Railroad – Frontman Danny Shirley has suffered a broken back, but details are scarce. After Shirley posted the news, a subsequent post on the band’s Facebook page said he was victim of a “freak accident” in March, but on a good note, “there is no paralysis & the Doctor is optimistic.” Shirley later commented, saying he doesn’t intend to miss any shows, but he’ll “probably be on a stool”.
SHOOTING THE BULL
100% CHANCE OF MCFLURRIES:
(***CAUTION: Confirm this is applicable locally***) Yes, today is “Star Wars” day…‘May the Fourth Be With You’, and all that. But does that get you anything? No. So you should also know that today is also “Free McFlurry Day” at McDonald’s…and that gets you a…well, a free McFlurry. The Caramel Brownie kind. There’s no purchase necessary—all you have to do is scan the offer code in the McDonald’s app. And why is McD’s giving out free McFlurries today? It’s sort of an apology for that goofy square spoon that comes with it. If you’ve ever thought the hollow spoon was a straw, you’re not alone. It has made many of us look a little silly when we were spotted vainly trying to slurp ice cream through what is definitely NOT a straw. To make up for it, McDonald’s is offering a free McFlurry to “anyone who’s ever thought the (square-handled) spoon was a straw”…so basically, everyone. But why is the spoon hollow? McDonald’s says the design allows employees to attach it to the machine and mix the McFlurry before serving.
(Hey, if it helps, I always mistake my napkins for a Big Mac and large fries to go, too!)
(Here’s hoping you can find a McD’s with a working ice cream machine today….)

ALEXA, FETCH ME SOME REGGAE MUSIC:
Dogs appreciate music, and prefer reggae and soft rock over other types, according to a research paper published by the Scottish SPCA and the University of Glasgow. In an experiment, dogs were played 5 different genres of music: Soft Rock, Motown, Pop, Reggae, and Classical, to determine whether it inspire make physiological and behavioral changes. Reggae and soft rock were found to stimulate the most positive behavioral changes. Dogs were also found to have the lowest stress levels while listening to those two music genres. The Scottish SPCA plans to create a canine-approved playlist, and extend the research to other species in its care.
(This just in! Dogs have better taste in music than most people!)
(Keep your ‘Who Let the Dogs Out’ jokes to yourself! Dogs hate that song, and so should you!)
(Were they listening with a subwoofer…on surround hound?)

JAB JAM:
Live music returned to the birthplace of The Beatles after a long coronavirus-enforced silence on Sunday when Liverpool, Britain hosted a music festival as part of an experiment to see if events like that spread the virus. About 5,000 people attended, ditching the face-coverings and social-distancing rules that we’ve become so accustomed to over the past year-plus. Attendees were only allowed admission to the outdoor event if they had tested negative for COVID-19, and promised to be tested again within 5 days. The concert line-up consisted of 3 acts performing in a tent built for the festival: local singer-songwriter Zuzu, indie group The Lathums and headliners Blossoms. Concertgoers’ data will be used by the government’s Events Research Programme to help understand the effect of crowds on the spread of the virus.
(Usually at a music festival, they don’t some right out and tell you to take a needle beforehand…)
(So they were partying like it’s 2019?)
(I’ve heard of people going to music festivals and catching a virus that’s way worse than COVID-19…)

FOODS YOU SHOULDN’T (or don’t need to) PUT IN THE FRIDGE:
✗ Ketchup (and most other condiments): This really comes down to taste. But because it is high in sodium, it can be stored at room temperature for about a month. (That’s a good thing…when you think about restaurant ketchup bottles sitting there on tables all day long…)
✗ Bananas: The ripening process slows down at cool temperatures; So, if you want yours to be more yellow than green, keep them on the counter. (I’ve never seen a banana in the fridge in my life…)
✗ Avocado: Like bananas, they are used to growing in warm temperatures, so putting one in the fridge slows the ripening process way down. They last 2-3 days in the fridge before the flavor and texture become compromised.
✗ Tomatoes: They’re best kept at room temperature. Chilling them to below 12° Celsius (54°F) compromises the flavor and texture. (So, you have a choice: bland tomatoes or fruit flies!)
✗ Bread (and other doughy items like bagels): The natural ingredients that go into dough don’t fare well in cold temps, so putting bread in the fridge dries them out. (So, if you have a leftover meatball sub, you’re screwed one way or the other…)
✗ Coffee: Coffee’s greatest enemies are “air, moisture, heat and light.” Since fridges are packed with humidity, they should be considered a no-go for coffee. (So much for “chilled coffee”?)
✗ Maple syrup and honey: The sugars in syrup can crystallize when exposed to cool temperatures. Honey can harden or lose flavor.
✗ Butter: Unsalted butter should be refrigerated. If it is salted butter that we’re talking about, it is OK out on the counter. (Unless you have a cat…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Humans scream for 6 main reasons: anger, fear, pain, pleasure, sadness and delight, according to researchers. And which type of scream do you think humans are best at deciphering? Not anger or fear or pain, which may have been your first guesses, according to Sascha Frühholz, an associate professor in the department of psychology at the University of Oslo in Norway. His study found that humans are quicker to respond to screams of delight or pleasure. Frühholz believes that, through evolution, “Signaling and perceiving these positive emotions in screams seems to have gained priority in humans over alarm signaling.” (Ice cream is a strong motivator…)
