★ “Survivor” normally waits until about a month before a season premieres to officially reveal its cast, but nothing is normal about what will be the landmark 50th installment of the reality competition series. Even though Survivor 50 won’t hit TV screens until 2026, and the full cast for the season before it (Survivor 49) has yet to be revealed, host and showrunner Jeff Probst announced the Survivor 50 cast on Wednesday’s episode of CBS Mornings. The supersized cast of 24 people marks the biggest group of contestants yet, and features players going all the way back to season 1’s “Survivor: Borneo”.

★ A new Hulu documentary is revisiting Barbara Walters’ most scathing interviews throughout her decades-long career. In a sneak peek trailer for “Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything,” celebs like Taylor Swift, the Kardashians and now-President Trump appear in footage highlighting the late broadcast journalist’s most memorable sit-downs. At one point, Walters can be seen telling Swift: “I know you don’t want to talk about guys, and I won’t push it, but how are you going to find anybody?” Barbara Walters Tell Me Everything begins streaming June 23 on Hulu. DON’T WAIT AT YOUR GATE — STOP AND SHOP:
An expert is predicting that those handy moving walkways that we rely on when moving through an airport with our luggage may someday soon become a thing of the past. USA-based airline, hotel and loyalty program expert Ben Schlapping points out that many airports are decommissioning these convenient walkways for one reason. He explained that airports are businesses, and they make money in 2 main ways: fees related to flying, and passengers’ spending while at the airport. And it would seem that airport operators increasingly want to delay fliers from plopping down in a seat at their gate. They’d much rather have them wandering the airport stores and kiosks, spending as much money as possible.
(Sorry, guys. I already blew my entire travel budget on a soggy breakfast sandwich and a lukewarm cup of crappy coffee…!)
(Oh good, because what airports RERALLY needed was less convenience…!)

SOMETHING ABOUT DOIN’ NUTHIN’:
We’ve all been there—sitting through a dull movie, staring out the window during a meeting, or hearing a kid declare, “I’m bored!” Boredom gets a bad rap. We usually see it as something to avoid, like a glitch in the day we need to fix. But what if boredom actually has something valuable to offer? According to a new report, in a world where we’re always rushing, scrolling, or juggling 5 things at once, boredom can be a rare chance to pause. It gives our minds a break from the constant noise and lets us reset. When we’re bored, our thoughts wander, and that space often sparks creativity, self-reflection, or even problem-solving. Experts say that being a little bored now and then can calm our nervous system and help us recharge emotionally. It’s like a quiet invitation to slow down, tune in, and maybe even reconnect with what really matters. So next time you feel bored—try to enjoy it. You might be surprised by what you find there!
(So…boredom is self-care now? Great, I’ve been accidentally thriving!)
(Finally! A health benefit I don’t have to work for!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:

➢ A bank in Mexico has been heavily criticized after requiring a 96-year-old woman, who is bedridden due to age and multiple illnesses, to appear in person at a bank branch to verify her identity, in order to receive her pension. In a video and pics that were shared on social media, the woman is seen being transported via ambulance on a bed to visit the BBVA branch in Oaxaca. Her family had submitted the necessary documents, but the bank required her to appear in person to fix a problem with biometric registration that had prevented her from receiving her pension for 6 months. The woman’s daughter said that the woman’s facial features do not match what the bank has on record because her 96-year-old mother “has changed physically; who doesn’t change after so many years?” (And I’m sure they tacked on a hefty “banking in person” service charge, too!)
➢ The so-called “Olympics on Steroids”, a sports competition where performance-enhancing drugs are not only allowed — but encouraged, will be held for the first time in May, 2026, in Las Vegas. The sporting event, real name “Enhanced Games”, is being marketed as a showcase designed to remove the stigma of using PEDs, and to “safely” push the limits of human athletic performance. The first-ever competition will feature 8 different events: swimming (50 and 100m races in freestyle and butterfly), track (100m sprint and 100/110m hurdles) and, of course, weightlifting (snatch, clean and jerk). Participating athletes will only be allowed to take substances that are legal in the US, and prescribed by a licensed doctor, such as testosterone, growth hormones, and various anabolic steroids. During the event’s launch, president and founder of the games Aron D’Souza said: “We are here to move humanity forward, the old rules didn’t just hold back athletes, they held back humanity.” (The only competition where testing negative gets you thrown out?)

DID YOU KNOW?
The trial run of McDonald’s beverage-focused standalone outlets is coming to an end. The company will close all CosMc’s locations in the coming weeks. CosMc’s Featured Expanded Beverage Menu, including coffee, frappes, specialty teas and juices, plus quick bites, to compete with the popularity of new drink choices served up at places like Starbucks and Dunkin’. But by mid-June all remaining locations will be shuttered, although the company did say that some of the specialty drinks that were exclusive to CosMc’s will appear on McDonald’s menus in the near future. (So much for “McFrappe to the future”!)

BS CHRONOMETER 05.30.25

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Mint Julep Day”, celebrating the delicious and refreshing Summer cocktail made with bourbon whiskey, mint, water, and sugar. (Sounds best if you order one using a Southern accent!)
• “Water a Flower Day”, because nourishing a little bit of natural beauty is good for more than just the flower – it’s good for your soul. Why not go crazy today…and water TWO? (No, Rover! Stop!)
• “Loomis Day”. Mahlon Loomis was a dentist, the inventor of artificial teeth, and one of the earliest inventors of wireless communication [in 1872]. (Thanks to him, your mother can text you about what she’s having for dinner!)
• “World MS Day”. It’s about the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation’s annual campaign to raise awareness of the condition, and to support and connect the 2.3 million people living with it. LINK: https://worldmsday.org/
• “National Creativity Day”. Whether you’re an artist, writer, musician, filmmaker, blogger, photographer, graphic artist, or any of 100 other creative personalities, today we celebrate you and your creative pursuit. (My creativity peaked with a macaroni necklace in kindergarten…)
• “Hole in My Bucket Day”. This wacky holiday is in honor of the fun children’s song ‘There’s a Hole in My Bucket’. (Yup. Slow day.)

SATURDAY:
• “Smile Day”, You’ve probably heard that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. Babies smile about 400 times a day. The average adult? About 20 times. Today, help fix that by smiling as much as possible. (Here’s why: https://tinyurl.com/5n8s84dy )
• “Macaroon Day”, honoring those ooey-gooey coconut cookies that stick to your fillings.
• “Save Your Hearing Day”, something older people often advise younger people to do. But most don’t listen until they reach the point when they can’t.
• “Speak in Complete Sentences Day”, a good excuse to bring up our pet peeve about newscasters who write sentences without active verbs, i.e.: “Police searching for suspects in a kidnapping today.” (NOT a complete sentence. [Ha! Neither was that!])
• “World No-Tobacco Day”, as declared by the World Health Organization, to encourage people to kick their butts. (I quit smoking cold turkey. And started putting it on my sandwiches instead…)
• “Meditation Day”, to partake in this mental exercise of private devotion. It uses the techniques of concentration and contemplation to attain spiritual awareness and purification, and to calm the body and mind. (I tried to get a job teaching meditation, but I didn’t have a good inner view!)
• “Autonomous Vehicle Day”, to honor advances in the autonomous vehicle industry, and to recognize the potential opportunities in changing the way the we travel. (As long as they don’t run into any obstacles…)

SUNDAY:
• “Say Something Nice Day”, a day to thank someone, encourage someone, compliment everyone. (Remember, if you can’t say something nice … at least say it quietly!)
• “Dare Day”, a day to do something that you’ve been wanting to do, but couldn’t get up the courage to try. (Once I dared a woman to ask me ‘out’. But instead, she asked me to ‘leave’!)
• “New Year’s Resolution Recommitment Day”. By 5 months into the year, stats show most resolutions have fallen by the wayside. Today, reflect on how true you’ve been to yours, and plan ahead for the rest of the year. (Did you have to remind me?)
• “Flip a Coin Day”, a day of easy decision making. Just flip and follow the results. (Or ask Siri to do it for you…)
• “Global Day of Parents”, a UN observance since 2012 to honor all parents and appreciate their selfless commitment to their children.
• “International Children’s Day”, first proclaimed in 1925 by the World Conference for the Well-Being of Children, to draw attention to any and all children’s issues. (If it’s both Parents Day and Children’s Day, we just might have a problem…)
• “Go Barefoot Day”, to enjoy the comforts and pleasant sensations of shedding footwear. Why? Because it feels great! The members of the ‘Society for Barefoot Living’ believe you should go barefoot all the time. (My family believes I should not…)
• “Heimlich Maneuver Day”, honoring the ‘abdominal thrust’ method of stopping choking, first described by Dr Henry Heimlich in a 1974 article in the journal “Emergency Medicine”. FAST FACT: In 2016, 96-year-old Heimlich used the technique himself for the first time when a resident at his retirement home in Cincinnati was choking. Heimlich died in 2016. (Of a heart attack, in case you were wondering…)
• “Oscar the Grouch Day”, celebrating Oscar the Grouch’s birthday, the day on which he is the grouchiest. Episode 3,866 of “Sesame Street” revealed that Oscar’s birthday is June 1st.
• “World Milk Day”, established by the UN to recognize the importance of milk as a global food, and to bring attention to activities connected with the dairy sector. (And they’ll milk it for all it’s worth…) LINK: https://worldmilkday.org/

BULL’S BITS

BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ A 2013 study showed that the average kid asks 300 questions per day. Girls aged 4? About 390.
✓ When you stretch out your arms, the distance from the fingertips of your left arm to those of your right arm equals your height.
✓ Dead skin cells are a main ingredient in household dust.
✓ Potato chips are flammable, and make good kindling. Especially those powdered with seasoning.
✓ If you order a large tea, the tea bag is the same as in a small or medium. That’s means you’re paying for extra water.
✓ If you get yourself a larger bathtub, you end up with less bathroom – but more bath room.

• Notes of cardboard, plastic and divorce court.
• The fruity undertones of a juice box found shoved between the seats of a ‘95 Dodge Caravan.
• Grape juice with a hint of feet.

• Hints of leather, tobacco, lavender, pencil shavings and petroleum. But never of grape.
• Pairs nicely with pasture grass and repeatedly headbutting a wooden fence post.
• Like Sunny D, but with a kick.
• Tastes like a wrung-out bar rag.
• Jesus would have turned this crap back into water.
