BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
***UPDATE***★ Ariana Grande has said “I do”.  The 27-year-old married her fiancé, 25-year-old real estate broker Dalton Gomez, over the weekend with the private pair exchanging vows at her home in Montecito, Calif. Her rep confirmed the news, saying: “They got married. It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.” Grande first showed off her engagement ring in December, writing, “forever n then some.”

★ Seth Rogen had a chance to land the role of Eminem’s sidekick in the 2002 film “8 Mile”. In fact, to this day, Rogen considers the experience “the weirdest audition” he ever did. He writes in his new book “Yearbook” that he was told that the film’s casting director was so uncomfortable with the “rappery” quality of the dialogue that actors auditioning for the role would have to bring a buddy to run lines with instead. He got his friend, former “Freaks & Geeks” co-star Jason Segel to be his scene partner. According to Rogen, they both started laughing hysterically, so they “literally couldn’t make it through the auditions”. Eventually, he says, “We just excused ourselves and saw ourselves out, tears streaming down our faces.” The role of ‘Cheddar Bob’ would eventually go to Evan Jones.

★ Martha Stewart is setting the (admittedly odd) record straight: she does NOT have 16 peacocks. She has 21. And, apparently, they’re all living their best life. After the New York Post reported that Stewart has 16 peacocks on her New York farm, Stewart tweeted: “The nypost again ‘fake news’. They have a story on peacocks today and say I have sixteen on my farm I actually have 21 of these glorious birds whose house is impeccable. They do not smell. They are so clean! Their voices are loud but such fun to hear. They are so friendly.”

★ A giant statue of Marilyn Monroe in her iconic dress-fluttering pose is making a comeback in the California desert, but some people aren’t very happy about it. The 26-foot-tall stainless-steel effigy — titled “Forever Marilyn” — has returned to the city of Palm Springs after a 7-year hiatus, and has been placed in front of the entrance to the Palm Springs Art Museum, following a recent city council vote. But there’s concern about where Marilyn’s backside is facing — directly at the front doors of the museum. A local official says he is worried about the thousands of students who’ll have to bear witness to Marilyn’s derriere annually.

• Duran Duran– will perform with Blur’s Graham Coxon at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on May 23. They’ll be joined by the Britpop legend when they debut a song from their upcoming album.
• The Offspring — PETA has called them out for featuring a pair of chimpanzees in their ‘We Never Have Sex Anymore’ video. It shows the chimps dressed up in various outfits and acting out roles on sets that include a strip club. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the vid pulled because they claim “it risks…propping up the exotic ‘pet’ trade, and reversing years of animal advocacy work.”
• ACMs — The Academy of Country Music Awards will return to Las Vegas for the 2022 ceremony. The 57th ACM Awards will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2022. The ACM Awards have historically taken place in Las Vegas, but were disrupted by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, taking place in Nashville.
• Jason Aldean – During his live set at the Bonaroo Farm in Manchester TN on Sat., he announced his 2021 “Back in the Saddle Tour”. It launches in Virginia Beach VA on Aug. 5, and runs through Oct. 30 in Tampa FL. Joining Aldean and his band on the tour will be Hardy and Lainey Wilson.
• Alan Jackson – says the song ‘Back’, featured on his new “Where Have You Gone” album was inspired by…Justin Timberlake’s ‘SexyBack’. His kids were talking about the song, and although he hadn’t heard it, he joked that he was going to write a song about “how I’m going to bring country back”. So, he did.

SHOOTING THE BULL

CHILLED VEGGIES:
A salad a day may keep anxiety away. That’s the takeaway from a new study that found what may be the secret to a healthier and happier life. Researchers from Edith Cowan University found that eating more fruits and vegetables can help reduce the stress in our lives. In the study of 8,600 Australians, people who eat least 470 grams of fruit and vegetables per day have stress levels 10% lower than those eating less than 230 grams daily. The World Health Organizations recommends at least 400 grams of produce daily.
It’s still unclear how exactly fruits and vegetables benefits stress levels, but the scientists believe it must be linked to the consumption of key nutrients, which can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress and therefore improve mental wellbeing. The researchers say: “Inflammation and oxidative stress in the body are recognized factors that can lead to increased stress, anxiety and lower mood.”
(And THAT, boys and girls, is why I put TOMATO ketchup on everything!)
(Fruits and veggies are great for your stress levels unless you’re the one at the store who sees how much they cost!)
(It had to be fruits and veggies, didn’t it? It couldn’t have been chicken wings?)

POOL YOUR MONEY:
It’s great to see come people working on the REAL problems. Like the fact that it’s very difficult to play pool while on a yacht. Well, Bugatti, a company known for its exclusive sport cars, has unveiled their new luxury pool table that was designed to negate the rocking of a boat and remain level. The $300,000 table relies on highly advanced gyroscopic technology to remain perfectly level in virtually any conditions, including on yachts. Bugatti says “each leg can move to compensate for the movement of a ship and remain perfectly level. The system can adjust in just 5 milliseconds, and that movement is completed in total silence with vibration-free adjustment.” The table has an all carbon-fiber finish, while the frame is built out of machined aluminum and titanium. Oh, and it comes with carbon fiber pool cues. And a “making-of” video.
(So now you can have a boat with a pool AND a pool table?)
(They can make a pool table that stays level in a monsoon, but they can’t make a car that doesn’t dribble coffee all over the cup holder?)
(Plus, if you hit an iceberg, there’s room on it for both Kate Winslet AND Leo DiCaprio on it!)

WIND BENEATH MY WAIST:
As the pandemic continues to place huge pressure on health services, a shortage of ventilation devices has left many patients in danger of respiratory failure. But science is on it. And researchers say they may have come up with an alternative: Breathing through our butts. Seriously. Scientists at Tokyo Medical and Dental University and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center say they have developed a procedure that allows lab animals to “breathe” out of their rectum. Using an enema of oxygen-carrying liquid, they say they have proved that oxygen-deprived animals — and maybe people — can be saved via their bottoms. Dr. Takanori Takebe says that ventilators are not always available and can break, so his team started to look for different strategies to help patients with severe lung failure. So, Takebe and his team started to look into whether the intestines could absorb oxygen, and began squirting an oxygen-packed liquid into the rectums of mice and pigs who’d been deprived of oxygen. According to the doctor: “The mice started walking around again; the pale skin of the anesthetized pigs turned a healthy pink.” While some refinement of the procedure is required before it could benefit humans, Takebe believes it could someday be used to save the lives of patients with severe respiratory failure.
(At this point, the main problem is finding volunteers!)
(Why not? We already exhale there!)

The name ‘dinosaur’ is Greek, meaning “terrible lizard”. (BS FACTOID: While many people think dinosaurs were massive, they were usually human sized or smaller. Scientists believe that the larger bones were just easier fossilized, and therefore more likely to survive to present-day)

TODAY’S SCOOP OF BS:
➠ Rumors resurfaced recently that Kanye West is gay. (Not true . . .everyone knows the only dude Kanye West loves is himself!)
➠ Supposedly backed by science, there’s a claim that marathons DON’T help you lose weight. (But don’t let that stop you from running in one. Let the fact you haven’t worn shoes in a year and can’t roll out of your futon divot . . . do that for you!)
➠ A report once found that we sleep better after having sex. (In related news, I haven’t slept a wink all week!)
➠ Pun of the Day: Picasso burned most of his early work to keep his apartment warm because he was poor. (You’d think he would have kept the paintings and just “put on another coat.”)
➠ Fact of the Day: The television was invented before sliced bread. (They invented the bread slice because they kneaded the dough. […yup, I’m already at the back door. Hands off!])
