Nuthin’ Like a Bull in Your Radio Shop!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
TONIGHT CTV airs its much-hyped TV movie “The Man Who Lost Himself”, the true story of CFL player Terry Evanshen, who lost his memory after a car crash (stars David James Elliott, who’s slumming back home now that his TV show “JAG” has been cancelled) . . . TONIGHT the “2005 Vibe Awards” air on UPN which, because they were taped SATURDAY, we now know turned out to be a validation of Mariah Carey’s comeback (she picks up 4 awards, including  ‘Artist of the Year’) . . . “CSI: NY” star Gary Sinise, who had his legs digitally removed for his role in “Forrest Gump”, will serve as the new spokesman for the “Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial Foundation” . . . 51-year-old movie actress Kathleen Turner (“Body Heat”), who is moving to Italy, says she pretended for years to be an alcoholic in order to hide the fact that she has rheumatoid arthritis, which she feared would make it difficult to find work (as you know, any old drunk can get a role in Hollywood) . . . “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” will be a thing of the past after NEXT MONTH’s finalé, according to the “Hollywood Reporter” (apparently she ‘just didn’t fit in’) . . . According to newly-public legal documents, Victoria Beckham (formerly ‘Posh Spice’) has had a $17,000 boob job (wow, do you think she can get her money back?) . . . Angelina Jolie has reportedly been asked to play the latest ‘Bond’ bad girl, but after reading the “Casino Royale” script, she’s asked the role be ‘toughened up’ before she’ll consider it (translation: more lines, please!) . . . Police in Dubai UAE have reportedly let Michael Jackson off after a female shopper complained he was using the mirror in a ladies’ room at the Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall – to adjust his makeup! (the man in the mirror was said to be wearing a T-shirt accessorized with a traditional Arab women’s head scarf) . . . And a new poll on the ‘Wackiest Celebrity Offspring Names’ is topped by ‘Moon Unit Zappa’, daughter of late avant garde musician Frank Zaapa, followed by ‘Apple Paltrow Martin’, the daughter of Coldplay’s Chris Martin & actress Gwyneth Paltrow (also making the list is the long-suffering daughter of late INXS singer Michael Hutchence – ‘Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily’).

Who’s hanging on your teen daughter’s walls? According to a new “CosmoGirl!” readers poll, it’s most likely …
1. Adam Brody (“The OC”)
2. Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill”)
3. Orlando Bloom (“Elizabethtown”)
Others in the top 10 include Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Billy Joe Armstrong (Green Day), and former top teen titillater, movie actor Johnny Depp.

TIMES ARE TOUGH WHEN THE FAT LADY SINGS:
Social psychologist Terry Pettijohn of Pennsylvania’s Mercyhurst College has developed what he calls the ‘Environmental-Security Hypothesis’, a theory that our tastes shift according to social and economic conditions. For example: when times are good, he says, we’re attracted to mindless pop songs and men lust after petite, wide-eyed young women. But in tough times, we favor slower tunes with more serious themes and men look for women who are taller, smaller-eyed, and broad-waisted … in other words, ‘mommy figures’.
– “Social Studies”

MAYBE MOM WAS RIGHT:
You really can catch a ‘chill’ from simply being cold, scientists have proven. Long dismissed as an old wives’ tale, researchers from the Common Cold Center in Cardiff, Wales have found that almost a third of patients who were asked to sit with their feet in ice water for 20 minutes contracted a cold within 5 days, compared to just 9% of those in a control group. (Yeah, but no one croaked like mommy threatened: “Put your ear flaps down or you’ll catch your death …”)
– “GQ”

DID YOU KNOW?
A teenage girl in a serious relationship spends an average of 28 hours a week with her boyfriend.
– “Psychology Today”

MID-LIFE CRISIS APPEARS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK:
As we get older, the years seem to go by faster and faster. Recent experiments suggest there is actually an explanation for this annoying impression. As we age, our biological clocks run slower and, since our clocks are running slower, the world seems to speed up. The subjective midpoint of our lives, therefore, turns out to be at about 20 years of age for someone who lives to be 80. (Naw, it’s much simpler than that – when you’re 4, a year is 25% of your life. When you’re 40, it’s only 2.5%.)
