Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Steve Carell was confronted by some of his former cast members from “The Office” as he hosted “Saturday Night Live” on the weekend. Ed Helms, Jenna Fischer and Ellie Kemper made surprise appearances during Carell’s opening monologue, badgering Carrell, who anchored the beloved sitcom, to sign on for a reboot. Even Carell’s wife, Nancy, who was sitting in the audience with their children, gave her blessing, saying “We think you should probably do the show. We don’t really need you to hang around anymore.”
(That’s what SHE said!)

★ Marilyn Monroe’s Golden Globe Award sold for a record-breaking $250,000 at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. The 1961 award statue for World Film Favorite Female from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association made history as the highest selling Golden Globe sold at auction. Monroe’s raven black two-seater 1956 Ford Thunderbird, which was auctioned for the first time, fetched $490,000 at Icons & Idols: Hollywood, which took place Friday and Saturday.

★ Taron Egerton doesn’t want to play James Bond. The actor who shot to fame as trainee spy Gary ‘Eggsy Unwin’ in “Kingsman” has admitted that playing THAT role has made the idea of playing 007 ”less appealing” to him, though he would still be ”honoured” to be approached. Egerton says that he is a big fan of the Bond films and he looked to them for his research on “Kingsman”. Quote: ”Moore is my favourite Bond. I think we borrowed more from him than any other.”

★ Bob Barker was rushed to hospital on Sunday for severe back pain, marking his second trip there in less than a month. Barker was hospitalized last month with a back injury and Sunday’s visit was related to ongoing back pain. His rep explains that due to the former “The Price is Right” host’s age, his recovery has been a slow process. Barker is 94 years old. The incident comes just over a year after he was taken to hospital after hitting the back of his head during a fall.

★ Tom Hardy, the star of acclaimed movies such as “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Revenant” and “Dunkirk”, was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to drama by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace, in London, on Saturday.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Demi Lovato — is hitting back at rumors that she’s not surrounding herself with the right people. After a fan account posted that it was unfair that a member of her team who “really cares” about her was fired, Lovato responded, “You have no idea what you’re talking about. True friends don’t do interviews about you when you OD.”
• Diddy — is speaking out for the first time since the Thursday passing of Kim Porter, his longtime girlfriend and the mother of three of his children. He wrote on Instagram: “For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t.”
• Mariah Carey – says she doesn’t like to ”rush” having to perform ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. She says she knows she’ll spend most of December singing her 1994 festive classic so she made a ”rule” not to play or listen to holiday songs until after Thanksgiving, because “Once I start, I don’t stop until after New Year’s.”
• Katharine McPhee – It looks like she’s going to be a good-humoured bride when she ties the knot with David Foster. In her latest post about the age differences between her and her soon-to-be stepdaughters — one of whom is 14 years older than she is — she photoshopped a pic from the 2004 comedy, “Meet the Fockers,” editing in the faces of herself, Foster, and his five daughters with the caption: “Mommy’s home.”
• Annie Lennox – hadn’t written music in eight years when she agreed to “try” to write a song for the movie “A Private War”, a biopic about war correspondent Marie Colvin. The result is “Requiem for a Private War,” a spare, haunting, tribute to Colvin and a meditation on the horrors of war. Lennox has spent much of the last 8 years focused on improving women’s rights globally through her non-profit, “The Circle”.
• The Beatles – The 50th anniversary reissue of their “White Album” has re-entered the Billboard album chart at No. 6. The White Album, first released in 1968, was remastered and reissued in a variety of formats, some with bonus tracks. The album, which is technically named “The Beatles”, spent nine weeks at No. 1 in 1968-69.
• Kane Brown – His second full-length album, “Experiment” has debuted in the top slot of the Billboard album chart. The only other country albums to hit #1 this year are Carrie Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” and Jason Aldean’s “Rearview Town”.
• Keith Urban – thinks Post Malone is the ”real deal”. Urban says he’s a huge admirer of the rap star and he relished the experience of working with him in the studio. The Urban/Malone collaboration is set for release in early 2019. Keith says that in spite of their different musical styles, he had ”a blast” working with Malone.

• “Blindspotting” (R-Rated, Comedy/Drama): While on probation, a man begins to re-evaluate his relationship with his volatile best friend. (Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal)
LIGHT BEARD:
From the “It was bound to happen” department: You can now buy festive lights for beards. That’s right. Christmas lights that you can string through your facial hair. The online shopping hub Firebox.com is selling beard lights to make your fuzz festive, for just US $11. The online listing for festive beard lights notes that they are easy to clip on and each light flashes and changes color. They are billed as being “infinitely better than a boring old novelty Christmas jumper”, but please keep in mind that facial hair is not included. And although no man in their right mind would admit to including festive beard lights on their Christmas list, someone must be buying them. Firebox reports that they are currently sold out.
(I will say this: They’ve gotta be a whole lot safer than candles…)
(If you’re going to wear these things, you might as well add glitter too!)
(And we’re just about at the right part of the month when all those participating in “Movember” have grown enough hair that they can use these things!)

TRY THIS AT HOME:
Here is exactly what you want to hear after sleep-walking your way through a Tuesday morning, looking ahead to another long work day, and then thinking about trying to fit in some exercise in the evening: Lying in a hot bath burns as many calories as a 30-minute walk. That’s the word from a study of men who either did 60 minutes of moderate cycling or bathed in 104°F water. Both forced the body to use more energy than when at rest, and those who bathed burned 79% more calories than they would have just sitting on the couch. Yes, those who rode a bike for 60 minutes burned even more calories (to the tune of almost 750%), but researchers point out that bathing can be something of an alternative to people who face a lot of fatigue, stress, or muscle pain and find it difficult to exercise daily.
(This may be true, but if I take the walk instead, the dog won’t pee in the living room!)
(Great, add my doctor to the list of people telling me that I should bathe more!)
(I don’t think I could sit in a hot bath OR ride a bike for an hour!)

HOW TO TELL IF IT’S A COLD, FLU, OR ALLERGIES:
A few tips from health experts ….
✓ Colds and the flu are viral infections that usually bring fever, aches, and fatigue.
✓ Allergies do not come with a fever.
✓ If you’re sneezing and blowing your nose endlessly, it could be a cold or allergies, but a cold will leave after a week-to-10 days. Allergies linger.
✓ Allergies are not accompanied by pains, upset stomach, or exhaustion like the flu.
✓ Symptoms for allergies include ‘allergy shiners’, where blood vessels under eyes dilate, creating dark circles; and the ‘allergy salute’, whereby people constantly rub their nose.
✓ Unless it is the flu, antibiotics do not work very well on viruses.
✓ For colds, well, grandma was right. Chicken soup really is a good remedy, though doctors are not sure why. (It’s the ‘extra love’ she puts in it.)

DID YOU KNOW?
A University of British Columbia biologist claims in a new paper that humans have caused certain evolutionary changes in animals. Sarah Otto writes that those adaptations include swallows developing smaller, more manoeuvrable wings to help them dodge buildings and vehicles, and some fish growing smaller mouths to make them harder to hook.
