Another Sheetload of Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Tom Arnold finally got the face-to-face with Washington officials that he wanted, only it was him who was in the hot seat after he threatened President Trump on Twitter. Secret Service agents paid Arnold a visit on October 25 after he tweeted about challenging Trump to a fight and threatening to “body slam” him. In security footage from inside Arnold’s L.A. home, which he supplied to reporters, the agents said they were conducting an interview after he crossed a line with the tweet, and that their main reason for following up with Arnold is to make sure his tweets don’t encourage violence, adding, “When we’ve had previous attempts on the President’s life, they got motivated by somebody.”

★ Alicia Silverstone will be shelling out a good amount of cash to her ex-husband over the next few years, as part of their divorce settlement. According to the details of the settlement between the “Clueless” star and Chris Jarecki, she will pay him $12,000 per month in spousal support until 2024. The documents, do not specifically list if child support will be paid, but the couple is sharing joint physical and legal custody of their son, Bear. However, if Jarecki meets a new romantic partner and shares housing costs for more than 5-months, Silverstone will get a reduction in her payment.

★ Oprah Winfrey’s mom has passed away at the age of 83. Oprah’s niece, Alisha Hayes, says Vernita Lee died on Thanksgiving. Sources say that a private funeral service has already been held. No cause of death has been released. On social media, some were asking why Oprah didn’t introduce her mom to the public more often, but reports are that she was reportedly not that close to her.

★ Heather Locklear’s mandatory psychiatric hold has been extended, according to a report. Locklear was initially placed on a psychiatric hold last week for what was supposed to be three days. But doctors believed they needed more time with her and had two more weeks added to her treatment. It’s very likely that she won’t stay in treatment for that long.  Although her team wants her to enter another facility for more long-term treatment, Locklear wants to stay at home, and legally, the decision is hers.

★ Talk show veteran Jerry Springer is moving into a new arena next year as the star of “Judge Jerry.”  The plan is to launch his new syndicated court show in the fall of 2019, nearly six months after production stopped on “Jerry Springer Show.” in June. Springer, the former mayor of Cincinnati, hosted the talk show for 27 years. The new hourlong show is expected to air on many of the same stations that carried his talk show.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• (***Caution***) Cardi B – was one of the unlucky holiday travelers who was unable to get home on Thanksgiving weekend.  Her private jet was forced to make an “emergency landing” Sunday night in Chicago, leaving her unable to get to New York.  She posted that she was missing her baby, and that she is not taking “no more (f****** private) jets”.
• Mark Ronson – says he is a ”purely collaborative” artist. The musician and producer is known for working on hits such as ‘Uptown Funk’ with Bruno Mars says he rarely sits down to write by himself, but when producing an artist, “sometimes you’re there to give a lot of the song, sometimes you’re there just to help with a few lyrics.”’
• Michael Jackson — A self-help book that he owned is going up for auction in the UK and could fetch up to £8,000 ($10,000USD). Jackson added his own notes in the pages of Robert Greene’s “The 48 Laws of Power”, which sets out rules to achieve and maintain a position of strength.
• Guns N’ Roses — had to cut their Abu Dhabi show short due to illness on Sunday. Frontman Axl Rose managed to perform almost 20 songs, but was ultimately forced to leave the stage.  In fan-filmed footage, he can be heard saying on stage: ”They’ve got me on IVs and a bunch of injections, ’cause I got sick today, I’ve been throwing up for about the last five hours.
• The Go-Go’s – “Head Over Heels”, the new musical built around their songs has succumbed to months of slow ticket sales.  A Jan. 6 closing date has been set. The production began in July at New York’s Hudson Theatre.
• Styx – have scheduled a series of shows with Larry the Cable Guy for the “Laugh. Rock. Seriously.” tour. Guitarist Tommy Shaw says he first ran into Larry the Cable Guy at a convenience store in Sarasota, Fla., and “Now we are pairing up for a fun night of music and comedy, something we could all use a big dose of!”  They’ll team up for seven shows beginning March 21 in Fargo, ND.
• The Mavericks — Now approaching their 30th anniversary, singer Raul Malo and co. have released a new Christmas album, “Hey! Merry Christmas!”  It features eight original songs plus covers of Darlene Love’s ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ and Irving Berlin’s ‘Happy Holiday.’
• Kelsea Ballerini – will ring in the New Year as one of the performers for the West Coast celebration of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.  The Chainsmokers, Foster the People, Dua Lipa, Macklemore, Skylar Grey, Ella Mai and Charlie Puth will also perform.

NO LICENCE NECESSARY:
As self-driving cars inch closer and closer to widespread use, we just might have seen a glimpse of the future.  Toronto-based Steve Lee won this year’s “Radical Innovation Award” with his concept for future self-driving vehicles. Get ready.  He envisions vehicles to one day be equipped with many of the elements found in a traditional hotel room: a sleeping space, a work space, a tiny kitchen, a toilet, a shower and an “entertainment zone” for watching movies and gaming.  Yes, basically a cross between a vehicle and a hotel room. Lee says that while car designers have focused on developing advanced versions of conventional vehicles, as an architect, he sees self-driving vehicles as being more like a mobile room.  His ATS (Autonomous Travel Suite) would be designed for trips of 6 hours or more, and would be offered in different sizes to accommodate solo travelers, couples or families.  The ATS would be controlled by an app, which would be linked to a chain of “Autonomous Hotels” that provide services including maintenance, waste removal, and the ability to dock at a “parent suite” which would offer overnight stays and use of facilities such as swimming pools, gyms, restaurants and meeting rooms.  Lee believes that eventually, the ATS could replace air travel.
(I’m hoping this thing has one-way glass!)
(We already have this.  It’s called a “train.”)
(Nothing new. I’ve been in a few hotel rooms that felt like they were moving…)

PEANUT ROULETTE:
Two companies think that they are getting close to “curing” peanut allergies.  French firm DBV Technologies is testing a drug designed to desensitize people with peanut allergies. Their treatment, “Viaskin Peanut” is applied to the skin like a nicotine patch.  Its aim is not to allow affected children to “eat a peanut butter sandwich”, but to safeguard them against allergic reactions from accidental peanut exposure.  DBV is hoping to receive FDA approval next year.  Meanwhile, California-based Aimmune Therapeutics, who also hope to make their product available next year, say their drug “AR101”, which is taken orally, provides “desensitization” to nearly eight of 10 patients.
(The problem is…how do you know if your child is one of the other 2 in 10?)
(Next, they can work on my friends’ crippling allergy to picking up the check…)

BIOLOGICAL LIFE HACKS:
☞ When running, to go faster, pump your arms faster than your legs:  Your legs will follow suit.  Since the arms counter the legs, pumping the arms will cause the legs to move faster.  This technique is mainly used by sprinters.  (And burglars…)
☞ To see more clearly, make a hole by curling the fingers and look through it:  Believe it or not, doing so allows short- or long-sighted people to see or read something that they normally couldn’t without glasses.  (You look funny doing it at a ball-game, though!)
☞ Fasting during a flight can help you avoid jet lag:  You can manipulate your body’s biological clock by manipulating your feeding clock.  When taking a long flight, do not eat at the airport or while aboard the plane.  Drink plenty of water, and eat close to local meal times when you land.  (Between that and security, flying is getting more and more like having a colonoscopy!)
☞ A warm shower before bed can help you fall asleep much faster:  The shower spikes your body temperature.  After you towel off, you feel a chilling effect. This lowers your body temperature, indicating to the brain that it’s time for sleep.  (I get the same chilling effect by running outside in my jammies to try to coax the dog in…)
☞ To stop hiccups, eat a spoonful of creamy peanut butter very slowly:  Take a spoonful of peanut butter and hold it in your mouth for five seconds. Then, swallow it very slowly. You will notice that your hiccups will stop immediately.  (And if they don’t?  Yay!  More peanut butter!)
☞ To cure a headache, pinch the area between your thumb and index finger:  This is called ‘acupressure’.   Pinch the area for 10 seconds. Then, using the thumb of your other hand, make small clockwise circles on this area for 10 seconds. Then make anticlockwise circles for 10 seconds. Then repeat the whole process on the other hand. (Then a quick hokey-pokey, turn yourself around, and that’s pretty much what’s it’s all about!)
