Touch Your Screen – This BS Is Still Warm!

WEEKEND TABLOID & BLOG BS:
• Abbie Cornish is the Australian actress linked to the separation of actors Ryan Phillippe & Reese Witherspoon. They apparently came to ‘know one another’ while shooting an as-yet-untitled movie by director Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”). Some of Abbie’s past co-stars aren’t surprised. It seems the blonde likes to get close to the important people on a set. In “The Golden Age”, which she recently filmed, Abby spent much of her time cozying up to director Shekhar Kapur.

• If 30-year-old actress Reese Witherspoon & 32-year-old actor-husband Ryan Phillippe end up divorcing, it’s he that’ll get a big fat raise. Scuttlebutt has it they didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement when they wed in 1999 and since then she’s managed to surpass Julia Roberts as the highest paid actress in Hollywood, commanding $29 million a movie. Ryan pulls in a paltry $2.5 million by comparison. Under California law, without a prenup, earnings during a marriage are divided up 50/50.
– “Us Magazine”
• Not to be left out, comedian/movie actor/TV producer Chris Rock has hired a high-powered divorce attorney to begin divorce proceedings against his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock. The couple, married in November 1996, has 2 daughters. Ironically, Rock is currently in post-production on the film “I Think I Love My Wife”. And at least figuratively, she’s joining the cast of “Everybody Hates Chris”.
– TMZ.com
• 52-year-old former supermodel Christie Brinkley is ready to offer her cheating hubby a staggering $25 million just to go away! She’s reportedly working behind the scenes to avoid a nasty divorce battle with soon-to-be-ex Peter Cook, who had an affair with his 19-year-old former assistant. Seems she’s concerned about the effect a bitter divorce would have on their 2 young children.
– “National Enquirer”
• 33-year-old TV actor Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother” since 2005, “Doogie Howser, MD” 1989-93) is the latest Hollywood celeb to come out, saying he’s proud that he’s a “very content gay man living … life to the fullest”. He says he was motivated to come out after “speculation and interest” in his private life and relationships. It’s also a guaranteed way for a C-lister to make the headlines.
– “USA Today”
• Movie star Hilary Swank has been injured on the NYC set of her new film “PS I Love You” by a pair of flying suspenders! The accident occurred during a scene in which co-star Gerard Butler performs a striptease for her. His suspenders became snagged and hit her on the forehead, causing a cut that required medical treatment. Production is scheduled to resume TODAY. Watch out for that jockstrap!
– “E! Online”
• The movie “Factory Girl”, a biopic about Andy Warhol’s tragic muse Edie Sedgwick, may never be released. After star Sienna Miller was called back to re-shoot some scenes, rumors began circulating that the movie could be scrapped altogether because the producers are simply unhappy with it. Considering some of the dreck that ends up on the bigscreen, this one must be really bad!
– “The Bosh”
• “The Simple Life” human skeleton Nicole Richie has been at the $80,000-a-month Beau Monde Center in Newport Beach CA where she’s NOT seeking treatment for an eating disorder according to her rep, just determining why she’s unable to put on weight. But now comes word that after less than 72 hours, she’s gone AWOL … to go shopping. Seems she checked herself out, even though staffers begged her to stay because they think she’s is in complete denial and oblivious to how sick she really is.
– “Hollywood Backwash”
• Meantime, Nicole Richie recently rushed her cat to an animal hospital, after the feline survived an astonishing 10-story fall from her luxury high-rise apartment. Nicole was devastated when her feline friend fell from a window but the puss is now recovering in a nearby animal care facility. It’s untrue the cat was fed only Nicole’s leftovers and blew out the window in a slight breeze.
– “The Sun”
• TODAY, nearly a year-to-the-day after she promised it, former “Fat Actress” Kirstie Alley appears on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” … in a bikini. She says it’s to prove to herself and other women her age that there can still be good years ahead. Enjoy the ‘maturity’, but there’s no need to flaunt your saggy old self in our direction, lady.
– “People”
• And now that Oprah Winfrey has given entire audiences cars and $1,000 apiece to donate to charity, Betus.com is posting odds as to what the talk-show queen will give out next. Two-week all-inclusive vacations are the favorite bet at 5-to-1 odds. A date with her longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham is a long-shot, with odds of 100-to-1.
– “The Scoop”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Anita Baker – TONIGHT she’s on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC).
• Busta Rhymes – He’s had run-ins with the law on an assault charge and for refusing to testify in a shooting death, and now he’s been busted for … talking on his cellphone while driving. Seems he was pulled over while driving past a Manhattan police station. Talking and driving is illegal in New York state. Can we expect a new rap about this? How hardcore!
• DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince – Word has it they’ll dust off their bling for a tour called “Boom! Shake The Land” NEXT YEAR. As if Will Smith needs the money.
• Eminem – His pal Akon claims it was he who convinced Mr Mathers to cancel his retirement plans and make a new album. The two have collaborated on the new single “Smack That”.
• Madonna – She’s reportedly spending circa $30,000 on a safari-themed nursery for her adopted 1-year-old Malawian boy David Banda. Hopefully it will help the kid not miss the real-life father she snatched him away from.
• Rolling Stones – The famous portrait of Keith Richards dressed as a pirate, which inspired Johnny Depp’s character ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’ in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, is now on display at London’s Artisan Gallery.
• Sting – TODAY he guests on “Live With Regis & Kelly” (syndicated/CTV).
• U2 – The ‘U2Charist’, a communion service based on their music, has become the latest trend for a number of Episcopal churches across the US.

40TH COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION AWARDS:

BAD NEWS FOR FREQUENT FLIERS:
Too much jet lag can damage your memory and slow down your brain. A recent study of airline cabin staff shows that those who’ve been flying across time zones for 4 years or more have slower reaction times and worse short-term memory than people in non-flying jobs. The study suggests the lapses may be caused by hormones produced by stress.

ATTENTION SPAN:
Workplace psychologists say it takes 15 minutes for our minds to reach a state of full concentration on a specific project, when the outside world seems to fade into the background. That means any disruption costs us a half-hour: 15 minutes to start focusing, another 15 to refocus. Add a lunch break in between and … bam, your workday is over!

WHO DRINKS THE MOST BOTTLED WATER?
3. French (141 liters per capita annually)
2. Mexicans (169 liters)
1. Italians (184 liters).

DID YOU KNOW?
• Anger can actually help you ward off colds. Suppressing anger causes a chemical reaction that interferes with the body’s immune system, making us more susceptible. Strange … a red face prevents a red nose.
• A healthy sigh can be a positive form of self-expression, closely related to the ‘cleansing breath’ used in Lamaze childbirth techniques. If it’s closely related, is it also followed by unbearable pain?
• It takes about 400 years for a plastic credit card to decompose. Almost as long as it takes to pay it off.
• The average male gains 10 pounds and the average female 11 after quitting smoking. It seems to replace the feel of a butt between their fingers, most people like the feel of a Twinkie.

AND WE QUOTE:
• “Well, at least I knew the guy that she wound up with, Richie [Sambora]. To know that it’s somebody decent and smart and a good parent to be around your children, that’s a good thing.”
– Charlie Sheen on TODAY’s edition of the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” (syndicated/CityTV), talking about working things out with estranged wife Denise Richards.
• “I’ve gone beyond bling. I’ve got nothing to prove with jewelry. I am a level all on my own now.”
– Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs on why he arrived at the “MTV Europe Music Awards” in a simple 3-piece suit accentuated by a single diamond earring.
