Sheeters Always Prosper!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Work has reportedly begun on a “Friends” reunion TV special featuring all six members of the original cast. Jennifer Aniston admitted last month that she and co-stars Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer were “working on something” as the hit sitcom celebrates its 25th anniversary. Now, reports are that all six main cast members, and Friends creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman, are “in talks” to reunite on upcoming on-demand service HBO Max for what is being described as “an unscripted reunion special.”
-YahooStyle
★ NBC announced that former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Will Ferrell will return to the show to host on November 23, which will officially enter him into SNL’s super-exclusive ‘Five-Timers Club’. Others in the Five-Timers club include Justin Timberlake, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Hanks and Alec Baldwin, who has hosted 17 times. Ferrell will be joined on the 23rd by musical guest King Princess, who will be making her SNL debut.
-MSN
★ Robert De Niro has been honoured with a Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. He’s received a number of SAG nominations in the past, most recently in 2018 for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series’ for his part in “The Wizard of Lies”. Some of De Niro’s most famous films include 1976’s “Taxi Driver”, “Goodfellas” from 1990, and this year’s “Joker”. DeNiro will be bestowed the “Lifetime Achievement” honor at the 26th annual SAG Awards on January 19 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

★ Some people have to ditch cheeseburgers and beer to cut back on calories, and others — or maybe just John Cena — have to eliminate Tic Tacs from their diet. Cena admits that he had an addiction to the minty candy during his WWE days, and would down multiple boxes before heading into the ring. Cena says his thing for Tic Tacs is “a nervous superstition” and he’s had to wean himself off of them, because he was up to about three boxes a day, all of them in the 20 minutes before broadcast.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A teacher who relocated for work by loading his belongings into a canoe and paddling 400km up the Rideau Canal to Ottawa has convinced Canada’s tax agency to cover his moving expenses. John Konecny decided to test the limits of the Income Tax Act after a judge disallowed his expense claims for his move from Whitby, Ont., to Ottawa in 2014. For decades, Konecny had been moving annually between the two cities, teaching in southern Ontario during the regular academic school year and eastern Ontario during the summer. He loaded up his canoe with food, clothing and a weed-wacker to use as propulsion, and made the journey beginning on the last day of school in June. After submitting his receipts for about $1,000 in expenses accumulated during his several-days’ of transit, Konecny learned last week the CRA had accepted his expense claim. (Even though the tax man didn’t get him this time, he still lost his shirt!)
➢ A woman who sued a posh New Jersey country club after a waiter spilled red wine on her purse received another surprise when she learned of the club’s response.  Maryana Beyder’s wasn’t just any ordinary bag. It was a pink Hermès Kelly clutch worth $30,000. So, after a waiter accidentally ruined it last year, she sued for negligence, demanding that the Alpine Country Club pay her the eye-popping price of her spoiled handbag. The club responded with a surprising move of its own: It’s now suing its own employee — the waiter who allegedly spilled the wine — in the latest legal development after a dinner gone downhill. Both cases are still pending. (But we do know the waiter isn’t expecting much of a Christmas bonus this year!)
➢ A cat has been locked in solitary confinement for consistently letting other cats out of their enclosures at his shelter. Quilty the cat was caught letting other kitties out of the senior room “repeatedly, several times a day” by staff at the Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization shelter. And apparently, the feline is a serial offender, as employees at the Houston shelter have learned that he used to let the dog at his old home into the house. When it emerged that Quilty had been locked up for letting his fellow four-legged pals run free, the online campaign #FreeQuilty was launched. But the shelter has since revealed that his review with the parole board had failed, because Quilty had “released himself” anyway. (When asked for comment, all Quilty said was “Let meowwwt!”)

NEW YEAR’S REVELATION:
I don’t to harsh your Friday feeling, but experts at the University of Oxford say that the chance of human extinction within the next year is frighteningly high. According to their study, of all the species that have ever existed, over 99% are now extinct. Although human activity has certainly contributed to some of these extinctions, many others were simply caused by natural occurrences. And the way they figure, the odds that humanity goes extinct from natural causes in any given year is less than one in 14,000. Which aren’t high odds, but there’s a chance nonetheless. And here’s the really scary part: Their research did not take climate change or nuclear/biological warfare into consideration. If they had, the chances of human extinction within the next year would be even higher. As it stands, they say that the chance of human extinction within the next year is higher than your odds of dying in a car accident, being struck by lightning, getting attacked by a shark, or getting a royal flush playing poker.
(Dudes, the odds of ANYTHING are better than the odds of my getting a royal flush!)
(No sense cleaning out the garage NOW…)
(And on that happy note…have a great weekend!)

• “Bundt Day”, celebrating the cake of that name which is baked in a special mold. It was first popularized in the 1950s and ’60s. Time to get out that ‘Bundt pan’ you never use so you can justify stowing it for another year.

• “Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day”. Just what is that lurking in the back? Don’t open it, the smell might kill you! Hold your breath, scrunch your nose, and get to the task. Who wins the prize for the worst refrigerator surprises? Most often, it’s workplace refrigerators.  (“Is this still good?”)

• “Pack Your Mom’s Lunch Day”, when kids with a mother who’s gone back-to-school are encouraged to honor her efforts by making her lunch.  (Please don’t use any of that stuff that you just cleaned out of the fridge!)

• “Philanthropy Day”, set aside to recognize the great contributions people in the philanthropic community make to our lives, our communities, and our world. Arguably, Bill Gates is at the forefront these days.

• “George Spelvin Day” (female variation ‘Georgette’), commemorating the 1886 invention of the fictitious name used on Broadway for actors who have a 2nd role in a play. The name has appeared in over 10,000 Broadway programs. ‘Walter Plinge’ is similarly used in the UK.

SATURDAY-

➠ “When Life Gives You a Lime, Look for Tequila!”
➠ “How’s Your Aspen?”

• “International Day for Tolerance”, established by the UN in 1996 to promote the need for worldwide tolerance and understanding. (Uh, doesn’t seem to be working.)

• “Baklava Day”, celebrating the Greek/Turkish dessert treat that’s made from phyllo pastry, honey, nuts, and other yummy ingredients. (Can we get this delivered? Now?)
• “Farm Joke Day”, a day to have a chuckle about the rural lifestyle. Go ahead, have a cow!
Here are a few…but be warned – they’re corn-y!
➢Why did the scarecrow win the Nobel Prize? Because he was out standing in his field!
➢What do you get when you cross a robot and a tractor? A transfarmer.
➢ As a farmer, I hear lots of jokes about sheep.  I’d tell them to my dog but he’s herd them all.
• “Unfriend Day”, an idea instigated by late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel in 2010, because you really don’t need to still be Facebook friends with people you went to camp with in Middle School. Or your former co-worker’s boyfriend’s roommate.
