BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ It’s a no-brainer that the Netflix hit “Stranger Things” will be back for a 2nd season. Now comes word that Sean Astin (“Lord Of the Rings”) and Paul Reiser (1990s TV sitcom “Mad About You”) have been recruited for the sequel season. Astin will portray an old high school classmate of Winona Ryder’s character ‘Joyce’, while Reiser plays a Department of Energy official. And yes, show favorite Millie Bobby Brown, will be back as the mysterious ‘Eleven’. “Stranger Things” returns in 2017.

★ A statement released by Kensington Palace says 32-year-old Prince Harry is ”deeply disappointed” with online trolls sending his 35-year-old actress-girlfriend Meghan Markle a ”wave of abuse and harassment”. Meghan’s relatives have also been bombarded with messages and questions after the news of their romance broke. Harry is said to be worried about Markle’s safety The statement says the red-haired royal has ”never been comfortable” with the curiosity around his love life. (Maybe you’d have more privacy if you encouraged her to quit posting pics and quips all over social media.)

★ Jim Parsons’ “Big Bang Theory” character, ‘Dr Sheldon Cooper’, has just landed a spin-off. The Emmy-winning actor will executive-produce the comedy, which focuses on the science geek as a kid growing up in Texas. The pilot is being written by “Big Bang” co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. News of the potential spinoff comes as CBS-TV’s #1 hit comedy is in its 10th season, which premiered September 19th.

★ And the filmmakers behind “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” are conjuring up even more hype around the movie by announcing that ‘Albus Dumbledore’ is making an appearance in the sequel to the upcoming first installment of the series. ‘Dumbledore’, for those of you out of touch with the “Harry Potter” universe, is the headmaster of the wizarding school ‘Hogwarts’. “Fantastic Beats” is set 70 years before the “Potter” series. The first film in the franchise debuts November 18th.

• The Chainsmokers – Their hit “Closer” f/Halsey has become the 1st single to score 12 weeks at #1 since Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” in Spring 2015. Of 1,057 #1 hits in the 58-year history of the ‘Billboard Hot 100’, only 17 have stayed on top for at least 12 weeks.
• David Bowie – A Kickstarter campaign to raise £100,000 (approx $125,000) for a statue commemorating the late rocker is about a quarter of the way to its goal. The figure would be erected in the market square of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, in southeast England.
• Jeezy – “Trap or Die 3” is #1 on the new ‘Billboard 200’ album chart. New albums by Kenny Chesney, Meek Mill, and Avenged Sevenfold have all also debuted in the top 10.
• Lynyrd Skynyrd – Production has begun on “If I Leave Here Tomorrow: A Film About Lynyrd Skynyrd” (working title), a documentary set to premiere on CMT next year.
• Phil Collins – He’s been announced as the 2nd headliner for next year’s British Summer Time festival. He’s playing London’s Hyde Park on Friday, June 30th. This follows the news that Green Day is headlining on the Saturday night.
• Slayer – The metal band fronted by Tom Araya have teamed with designers at Supreme label for the ‘Supreme x Slayer’ collection, which is launching this week. The clothes and accessories include T-shirts, sweaters, sweatpants, and jackets among other Winter gear.
• Thomas Rhett – Tonight he begins a string of international shows at Mandela Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The schedule also includes stops in England and Ireland.

It looks for all the world like an epic Winter battle is in the making, but it turns out the thousands of perfectly shaped snowballs that showed up on a beach in Siberia are the result of a natural phenomenon. The strange sight has emerged on the shore of the Gulf of Ob, just north of the Arctic Circle. Villagers from nearby Nyda have discovered about 11 miles of beach has been covered in the icy orbs, some the size of tennis balls and others about 3-feet-across. And while the spheres look man-made, scientists say the phenomenon is just a fluke of nature, a combination of the effects of wind, the lay of the coastline, and the temperature. For the first time in the beauty company’s history, CoverGirl is featuring a woman wearing a hijab in its advertising. Nura Afia, a beauty vlogger with more than 216,000 YouTube subscribers, is being featured in CoverGirl’s new ad campaign alongside global celebrities like actress Sofia Vergara and singer Katy Perry. In a statement, Afia says the role is particularly meaningful to her after “growing up and being insecure about wearing the hijab”.
