BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Dax Shepard has revealed his wedding to Kristen Bell cost $142 … in total. The 38-year-old “Parenthood” actor tied the knot with the 33-year-old “Veronica Mars” actress on October 17th, but it wasn’t a typical Hollywood ceremony … it took place at the Beverly Hills County Clerk’s office. Shepard says the event was so low-key that friends brought them a cake afterward labeled … ‘World’s Worst Wedding’.

★ 33-year-old reality TV star Kim Kardashian is keen to bare all for “Playboy” again after becoming a mom to baby daughter North this Summer. She says she wants to do it so she can show those who poked fun at her pregnancy weight-gain, calling her ‘a whale, Shamu, a cow’, that she’s hot again. She last stripped for the mag in 2007. She also tells E! News that she will officially become Kim Kardashian West after she ties the knot with fiancé Kanye West.

★ “Playboy” founder Hugh Hefner is known for a lot of things, but up until this past weekend twerking wasn’t one of them. But the Hef, and wife Crystal, proved one thing at the annual Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion … you’re never too old to twerk. The 87-year-old and his (much) better half, dressed up as VMAs-style Robin Thicke & Miley Cyrus for their shindig. Mrs Hefner has since posted photos of the pair on her Instagram account with the word ‘Twerk’.

★ Production on the highly-anticipated “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation has been pushed back until December. No official reason has been given for the change in start date, which had originally been scheduled for November, but news of the delay comes just days after Brit actor Jamie Dornan was confirmed as the new ‘Christian Grey’, stepping in to replace Charlie Hunnam, who abruptly quit. The film is still planned for release in August, 2014.

LIFE BY THE NUMBERS:
A BS breakdown of who we are and what we do …
• 83% of people polled say choosing a Halloween costume is the ‘most stressful decision they make all year’.
• 61% of us ‘air out’ our bedrooms at least once a week.
• 58% of parents use electronic gadgets to babysit their kids.
• 40% of babies under 2 have used a smartphone or tablet.
• 33% of children surveyed pick mushrooms as their least favorite vegetable.
• 30% of us now use Facebook as a daily news source, clicking on news links after checking personal matters.
SCREENING KIDS:
Parents should limit kids’ and teens’ screen time to 2 hours a day, according to a new advisory from the American Academy of Pediatrics. That includes the use of smartphones, computers, TV, videos, and movies … but not online homework. The researchers say many parents are clueless about detrimental effects of too much technology, even though heavy usage has been linked with sleep problems, bullying, obesity, and poor performance at school. The academy also urges parents to ban computers and TVs from kids’ bedrooms. (Put ‘em where you can monitor them.)

WORLD’S SEXIEST LANGUAGE:
French has been voted the ‘Sexiest Language in the World’. In a new poll that surveyed 8,000 respondents around-the-world, the romanticism and elegance of French has won it top spot ahead of the spirited, rolling cadence of Italian and the prim gentility of British English. It’s perhaps due to the musicality and softness of the French language, or zee charming way zey can’t pronounce ‘th’. Whatever the reason, a French accent is perhaps the sexiest accessory one can have. (Well, other than a ‘tramp stamp’.)

ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH SEXERCISE?
A new study from the Université du Québec in Montréal finds that sex is better than a walk, but not as good as a jog when it comes to exercise. Researchers had heterosexual couples aged 18-to-35 wear fitness trackers in the sack to calculate the physical impact of sex. The found a session of moderately vigorous lovemaking can burn 4.2 calories-a-minute for men and 3.1 calories-a-minute for women. Overall, men burned 101 calories on average, while women burned 69 calories. At least, that’s the story when young, healthy people do it. (After 40 it’s more like: “Oh sorry, did I wake you up?”)

BS CUTTING-EDGE VOCAB:
New terms leaking into our lingo …
✓ ‘Endless Runner’ – An adjective used by gamers to describe a videogame in which a character keeps running, encountering a variety of obstacles. “Temple Run”, for instance.
✓ ‘Ghost Money’ – Funds transferred in secret by the government or by a government agency.
✓ ‘Vertical Sprawl’ – The unplanned addition of a large number of high-rise buildings in a relatively small area, leading to problems with traffic, parking, and infrastructure.
ALL TRESSED UP:
Hair extensions for men may become the next big thing. All it takes to have hair like ‘Thor’ is a handful of cash ($500-to-$4,000), an hour of your time, and a bit of hot glue. Men wanting to achieve the look of Brad Pitt when their hair is only halfway there can now get the other half instantly. NYC stylist Adel says many of his clients work in entertainment or fashion and are looking to stand out at auditions or have better presence on-camera. Before you get too excited … hair extensions are not a cure for male pattern baldness. You need at least 6 inches of hair for extensions to attach properly and look natural. (You can’t have an extension for a hair.)

50 IS FINE:
A new study has found that 9-out-of-10 workers over age 50 are ‘very satisfied’ or ‘somewhat satisfied’ with their jobs. And the satisfaction applies regardless of gender, race, education level, political ideology, or income level. Researchers behind the General Social Survey point out that older workers generally have already climbed the career ladder, increased their salaries, and reached positions where they have greater security. The older you are, the more job-related benefits you’re likely to have, so more satisfaction makes sense. (If you’re 20-something, don’t worry. You might actually find a job by the time you’re 50.)

DID YOU KNOW?
The working-class accent of New Orleans is affectionately known as ‘Yat’, from the local greeting “Where y’at?”, meaning “How are you?” (Oddly, the common response is: “What it is”.)
