Sweet Sheet!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
After waiting 2 years and spending millions on renovations, actress Julia Roberts & hubby Danny Moder have found out that mold was discovered in the master bedroom of the Malibu CA house they intended to share with their twins – so now the walls are all being ripped out again (maybe she’ll star in a remake of “The Money Pit”) . . . Here’s a name to watch – “Hustle & Flow” star Terrence Howard will be honored with the ‘Rising Star Award’ at California’s “Palm Springs Film Festival” in JANUARY . . . Hugh Hefner’s ‘#1′ girlfriend, 25-year-old Holly Madison, is happy the 79-year-old “Playboy” has whittled down the number of his girlfriends from 7 to 3, but hopes to have him all to herself – within 5 years (when he’s 84) . . . Actress Denise Richards says husband Charlie Sheen may have admitted to being a ‘gigantic a**’ on David Letterman’s show but she’s still wants a formal public apology (on his knees … begging) . . . Former New Kids on the Block heartthrob Donnie Wahlberg (older brother of actor Mark Wahlberg) has signed up to star in a TV show loosely based on his life growing up in Boston (further proof of too many channels and too little content) . . . Actress Kelly Monaco (“General Hospital”, “Dancing with the Stars”) was seriously being considered for a multi-episode guest shot on “Desperate Housewives” and was ready to sign a contract with show creator Marc Cherry, then the babes in the regular cast raised a ruckus over potential loss of on-screen face time – so now the deal’s off.
BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Daniel Powter – “Bad Day”, the first single from the Vancouver native’s self-titled album, has had unprecedented success in France, where it topped the radio airplay singles chart for several weeks. He’s up for ‘Best New Artist’ at the “MTV Europe Awards”.

• James Blunt – The British musician scored a #1 on UK charts with “You’re Beautiful”. He spent 4 years in the Life Guards, the senior regiment in the British Army. One of his final duties before retirement was serving as a pallbearer at the funeral of the Queen Mother in 2002.
• Keith Urban – He and actress Nicole Kidman have been spotted hanging out again, this time in and around Nashville TN looking ‘affectionate toward each other’. But there just friends … right?
• Nickelback – TODAY they’ll hit 4 cities in a single day to promote their new studio album “All the Right Reasons”. They’ll kick off the quickie tour in Halifax, then hit Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver later in the day. Then they’ll go home and count up all their air miles!
• Steve Holy – The “It’s My Time” singer is a Dallas TX native who was the youngest in a family of 8 children.

Seems Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is back at the negotiating table to appear in the bigscreen version of “Dreamgirls”, after the signing of Beyoncé & Eddie Murphy convinced him to take a salary cut . . . 37 years after she starred in the creepy classic “Rosemary’s Baby” (1968), 60-year-old Mia Farrow is set to return to the horror genre, playing a sinister nanny in the remake of “The Omen” (1976) . . . Adam Rifkin will write, direct & star in “Homo Erectus”, a prehistoric comedy about a philosophical caveman who yearns for more out of life than sticks, stones & raw meat . . . And the ‘007′-inspired “Austin Powers” spoof series will try to play off the 2006 release of the new ‘James Bond’ movie “Casino Royale” with a 4th film focusing on a young ‘Austin’, which may or may not involve the series’ creator Mike Myers.
THE SPREAD OF SURFING:
New stats show that Internet growth in 2005 is at its highest since its inception. Over 17 million Websites were added to the Worldwide Web in the 10 months from January to October THIS YEAR. HI-TEXT CONCERTS:
If you’ve been to recent shows by Green Day, Clay Aiken, the Backstreet Boys or Avril Lavigne, then you know that a lot of the serious action isn’t going on in the front row or the pit. It’s on the bigscreen next to the stage, as fans can now spend downtime at concerts sending text messages from their cellphones to the band or friends in the venue via big LED displays next to the stage. Bands like Coldplay and U2 are using the technology to get fans involved with social causes.

WHY WE WORRY:
A survey on obsessive-compulsive behavior asked women what they worry about on a daily basis. Top answers include leaving the iron, oven or coffee maker on, and leaving the alarm clock off. (So what’s YOUR biggest daily worry? We know what you’re saying to yourself … did I send a cheque to my show prep service?)

NOW SMOKING MAKES YOU DUMB:
There was a time when smoking was regarded as a stimulant that helped intellectuals to better concentrate. Forget that. A newly-released 20-year study conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan reveals that long-term use of tobacco dims the speed and accuracy of a person’s thinking ability, and actually reduces IQ levels. (Hmm, remember all those pipe-smoking profs you had?)

WHERE THE BOYS ARE:
Visitors to US college campuses can’t help but ask: Where are the boys? Currently, 135 women receive bachelor’s degrees for every 100 men and that imbalance will widen in coming years, according to a report by the federal Department of Education. Nearly as many American men are behind bars or on probation and parole (5 million) as are in college (7.3 million).

HOW MUCH SCREEN TIME IS TOO MUCH?
A new study has found that the average American now spends more time using media such as TV and the Internet than sleeping. Ball State University researchers have found that Americans spend 9 hours a day watching TV, using the Web, or talking on a cellphone. And fully a third of that time is devoted to using 2 or more media at the same time.

WARNING PANTS:
Dutch scientists have developed underwear that calls an ambulance if the wearer has a heart
attack. Philips Research has developed bras, undershirts and underpants that register and analyse the wearer’s heartbeat. The sensors are linked, via wireless technology, to a mobile phone which automatically makes contact with an alarm center or ambulance in an emergency.
