Here’s More Bull Roar!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ It will be “Spider-Man 3” – literally! Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will both be joining Tom Holland in . . . “Spider-Man 3”. A Sony source has confirmed that the two actors have signed on to reprise their respective Spider-Man roles next to Tom Holland’s. Garfield played the WebCrawler in “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2012, and its 2014 sequel, and Maguire starred in a Spider-Man trilogy between 2002 and 2007. Reportedly, in the new movie, Maguire and Garfield will appear in Holland’s universe to help him defeat all of Spider-Man’s combined enemies.

★ Gal Gadot is speaking out on her infamous “Imagine” video, which went viral at the start of the coronavirus pandemic’s spread in the US in March. She defended the video, despite criticisms that it was cringe-worthy and out-of-touch. Quote: “Sometimes, you try and do a good deed and it’s just not the right good deed. I had nothing but good intentions and it came from the best place, and I just wanted to send light and love to the world.” The video featured cameos from Natalie Portman, Jimmy Fallon, Zoë Kravitz, Will Ferrell, Amy Adams, James Marsden, Mark Ruffalo, Sarah Silverman, Sia, Maya Rudolph and more, who all joined in to sing one line of the John Lennon song ‘Imagine’.

★ Mad Max fans, get set for a spin-off. Anya Taylor-Joy is set to play ‘Furiosa’, the character originated by Charlize Theron in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” in a standalone action film called “Furiosa”. Chris Hemsworth will also star. George Miller will return to the director’s chair for the film, which will track Furiosa’s origins before she teamed up with Mad Max in “Fury Road.” “Furiosa” is still set in the dystopian, desert wasteland Miller created as far back as the original “Mad Max” trilogy with Mel Gibson.

★ Grab your wigs and get ready to do the hoedown throwdown, because Miley Cyrus has spilled some serious tea about a possible revival of Hannah Montana. In an interview, she said: “At some point, I’m definitely…I’m getting the wig out of storage.” Of course, the Disney Channel series, which starred Cyrus as a regular preteen girl with a secret pop star alter ego, ran from 2006 to 2011 and turned the budding star into a household name.

When pressed for details, he cryptically added: “If you know the greatest hits, they had to come from somewhere.”

GETTIN’ ’ER DONE:
Most people would say they are most productive in the morning. But don’t be so sure. A study by the IZA Institute of Labor Economics came to the conclusion that, despite popular belief, many people are at their most productive point in the workday at 1:30pm. That’s right. Just after lunch, exactly when most of us think we’re LEAST productive. Some experts believe this may be more accurate for younger members of the workforce, and because older employees tend to go to bed earlier and get up earlier, their peak hours may be slightly earlier than lunchtime, but generally not as early as they may have guessed.
(1:30 is the most productive time? Obviously, these people don’t have YouTube!)
(My most productive time is whenever I don’t have to be at another meeting that could have been an email!)
(Are you like me? Most productive when you realize it’s 15 minutes until quitting time and you’ve spent the last 2 hours organizing your bottom desk drawer?)

CONTAINING THE VIRUS:
A Canadian company is working to limit pandemic’s strain on the health-care system by turning old shipping containers into portable operating rooms and intensive care units. Fero International of Hamilton, ON customizes the containers into a variety of uses for their clients. But as COVID-19 cases surge, the company has been using their innovations to help with front-line needs. Inside each unit, the company builds a fully-functioning hospital room that can be used for operations or as an ICU, with the goal of increasing the number of patients that can be treated and to help avoid the cancellation of other hospital procedures. The company worked with the University Health Network in Toronto to ensure the units are up to doctors’ standards, and the air emitted from the units is filtered to prevent infecting people outside.
(Now the big question: How much to park outside?)
(Sure, but who’s gonna pay the freight?)

THIS BITES:
Researchers say they think they have discovered the real reason why mosquitoes crave our blood so much — because it tastes like candy to them. The study, published in the journal “Neuron” this week, found that people taste “salty and sweet” (maybe like salted caramel?) to mosquitos, which are able to detect a combination of at least four different substances in blood, similar to the way people are able to differentiate between salty, sweet, bitter, sour and umami flavors. While both humans and mosquitos can sense both salty and sweet flavors, lead researcher Leslie Vosshall of New York’s Rockefeller University, points out that “the whole experience is definitely different” for a mosquito. She compares the insects’ blood-seeking skills to “the ability of honeybees to see ultraviolet and bats to hear ultrasonic sounds.” Scientists hope that understanding mosquitoes’ taste buds will help them create medications that stop them from biting people and transmitting disease.
(I’ve always THOUGHT I must taste like candy to them…)
(Did they just invent “Trick or Skeeters”?)
(Well, you ARE what you eat…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Men with low voices are more likely to cheat, according to a study. Chinese researchers conducted experiments where they examined whether certain voice-related characteristics were linked to cheating intentions. They determined that men with more masculine voices were more likely to engage in bad behavior like cheating and be less committed to a romantic relationship compared to other men. On the other side of the coin, it was found that while women find lower voices more attractive, they perceive that it means their partner could cheat on them, which can limit men with deeper voices to short-term relationships.
