Sheet Happens!

PLEASE NOTE: There’ll be no “BS” service for Monday, Thanksgiving Day. Back at you with a Tuesday edition. Happy Turkey Day all!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Superstar movie actor Brad Pitt admits that he worries about his growing brood of kids, who now seem to think cameras are a normal part of life (dude, if you were really worried, you could take your many millions and live quietly away from the limelight) . . . Movie actor Nick Cannon (“Bobby”) has called off his engagement to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, just a few months after proposing via a giant video screen in NYC’s Times Square (some big bucks blown there) . . . Former reality show contestant Jonny Fairplay (“Survivor: Pearl Islands”) has filed a complaint against former child star Danny Bonaduce (“Partridge Family”), claiming he knocked out his teeth onstage during the “Fox Reality Channel Awards” at a nightclub in LA (unbelievable – what were either of these clowns doing at an ‘awards’ show?) . . . Kevin Federline, who’s been awarded physical custody of he & Britney Spears’ 2 sons, has shown up in court for a hearing on visitation rights wearing – an eyepatch (he’s hoping for a role in “Pirates of the Caribbean IV”?) . . . Meantime, an unnamed amateur filmmaker claims he has video of himself & Britney Spears getting it on in her hotel room during her vacation THIS SUMMER in Hawaii, but he’s already trashed it’s online market value by describing the tryst as ‘nothing special’ (she apparently passed out) . . . Just 3 months after his most recent split with model Kate Moss, drug-addled Brit rocker Pete Doherty is engaged to marry singer/model Irina Lazareanu, whom he’s apparently known for 10 years (then she should know better by now) . . . And photos from the set of the now-filming “Sex & the City” movie that have been posted online show star Sarah Jessica Parker’s ‘Carrie Bradshaw‘ character leaving NYC’s St Patrick’s Cathedral – in a wedding dress (we’re guessing soon we’ll know if ‘Mr Big’ really is).

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• James Blunt – Speculation he’s having a relationship with Paris Hilton is running high again after she showed up THIS WEEK at his Toronto gig ‘disguised’ in a black wig and hat.
• John Mayer – He’s now said to be dating 27-year-old TV actress Minka Kelly (“Friday Night Lights”), the latest in his long line of celeb girlfriends that have included Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, and Cameron Diaz.
• Led Zeppelin – Fans who won in the draw for tickets to the gig at London’s O2 Arena NEXT MONTH have been warned not to sell the unique pass codes they were given as they face ID checks when they collect their tickets. Some of the duckets are already on auction websites.
• Marilyn Manson – Hard-to-believe but when the 38-year-old shock-rocker recently met the parents of his 19-year-old actress-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood … they were actually impressed! Seems her mom used to date rock stars & her actor-dad has played ‘Dracula’ on stage.
• Shakira – She’s just donated $40 million to the ‘Latin America For Solidarity’ charity, which she co-founded to repair damage caused by an earthquake in Peru and a hurricane in Nicaragua. (Soon we’ll be calling her ‘Mother Shakira’.)
• Wu-Tang Clan — They’ve changed their story about being given permission to use the first-ever ‘sample’ of a Beatles song. Now they say their new album “The 8 Diagrams” will feature an ‘interpolation’ of the tune “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. To save you looking that up, it’s an ‘insertion between other parts’. (Kinda sounds like a sample, no?)

TODAY’S SHOW BIZ SKED:
• Annie Lennox – TONIGHT the former Eurythmics singer performs music from her new album “Songs of Mass Destruction” on the “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC).
• Diana Krall – TONIGHT the Canadian jazz diva does “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson” (CBS).
• Fabolous – TODAY the rapper guests on “MuchOnDemand” (MuchMusic).
• “Life is Wild” (CW) – SUNDAY is the premiere of this new TV drama about a NYC veterinarian who uproots his family to move to a game reserve in South Africa. This no-name new show might just make it, because there aren’t many wholesome family dramas on-the-air.
• matchbox twenty – TONIGHT they perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC).
• Reba McEntire – TONIGHT she receives “Billboard” magazine’s 1st-ever ‘Woman of the Year Award’ in NYC. The award recognizes women who’ve made significant contributions to the music biz and inspire other women to assume greater responsibilities in the industry.
• Spoon – The Austin TX indie rockers are the musical guests on “Saturday Night Live”, hosted by Vancouver actor Seth Rogen (“Knocked Up”).
• Tom Cruise – In Japan, SATURDAY has been designated “Tom Cruise Day” by the Japan Memorial Day Association, in recognition of his ‘close association with the country’. (Uh people, in “The Last Samurai” he was just acting.)

DOUBLE-DUTY DEVICE DELAYED:
In another setback for hi-def video compatibility, the debut of Samsung’s dual-format player, capable of playing either Blu-ray or HD-DVD discs, has been postponed from THIS MONTH to DECEMBER. LG, another Korean consumer-electronics company, is currently the only manufacturer marketing a dual-format player, but it costs more than buying 2  individual Blu-ray and HD-DVD players. (One of these formats is eventually gonna go down … who you betting on?)

– “Billboard”

AND WE QUOTE:
“The thing about shower songs is you never quite know what’s going to pop in. It could be something you’ve just heard on the radio or it could be something from years ago … but not usually my own.”
