BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Abigail Breslin is has opened about a painful chapter from her past to mark National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In an Instagram post, the 26-year-old “Little Miss Sunshine” star revealed that she “was in a very abusive relationship for close to 2 years”, during which she “was beaten on a regular basis, locked into rooms and forced to pretend everything was ok…while dealing with intense injuries”, which she hid with concealer and “caked on foundation.” After thanking friends and family who have supported her, she admitted she still experiences PTSD, but is now “in a wonderful, healthy, happy and amazing relationship” with her fiancé.”

★ “Dahmer” has been dethroned from the top of the Netflix Top 10 chart, but its successor isn’t all that different. The true-crime drama slipped to the #2 spot while “The Watcher” soared to #1. Both limited series came from creator Ryan Murphy, who has an overall deal at Netflix. “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is a 10-episode limited series that premiered on Sept. 21 and it has dominated Netflix’s Top 10 list ever since. The show is a dramatization of the life of Jeffrey Dahmer (Evan Peters) and his gruesome crime spree. The Watcher is also based on a true story, though a less well-known one. It is a dramatization of a story described in Reeves Wiedeman’s 2018 article “The Haunting of a Dream House”, about a married couple, played by Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, who move into their dream house in New Jersey, and are then harassed by a stalker in a series of unnerving letters.

★ The dog that opened a can of worms with Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin is now a full-fledged member of the family. Reportedly, Dwight is not only living with the family in Hidden Hills, but Flavin now really likes the pooch. When the couple’s marital woes first surfaced in August, it was reported that she didn’t want another dog, especially a large Rottie, but Sly prevailed and brought Dwight home. That became a source of conflict, especially when he covered up a tattoo of Jennifer on his arm and replaced it with Dwight. Now, it appears all is forgiven. The divorce petition has been dropped, the family is fully back together, and Sly, Jennifer and 2 of their daughters even posed for a happy picture at a Ralph Lauren fashion show Thursday night.

★ Behati Prinsloo is back on Instagram and she has a bold message. On Friday, the supermodel shared a throwback photo to her Instagram Story, notably holding up her middle finger and sticking out her tongue. Standing on a stage in front of a Victoria’s Secret sign, Prinsloo sports a black top tucked into a pair of short shorts, completing her look with black tights and edgy red, strappy stilettos. The photo marks the first time Prinsloo — who is currently pregnant — has posted on Instagram since her husband Adam Levine was accused of having an affair last month. SHOOTING THE BULL
“I CALL THAT A BIG YES”:
‘Tis the season! Sony and vacation rental company Vacasa have teamed up to offer one courageous group of friends a getaway in the Ghostbusters Firehouse. Though the classic 1984 Halloween flick is based in NYC, this faithful reproduction is located in Portland, Oregon. The 3-story firehouse features all the essentials: a P.K.E. Meter, Ghost Traps, Proton Packs, an Aura Video-Analyzer and an Ecto-Containment Unit to store any evil spirits you might come across. The Ghostbusters’ vehicle, the Ecto-1, is even parked in the firehouse bay. Guests are invited to wear the famous Ghostbusters fight suits and snack on Stay Puft Marshmallows, and take part in other creepy activities. The immersive experience will take place Oct. 28-31, because of course it will. And if you’re not brave enough to stay in the firehouse, you can still take a virtual tour on the rental listing. (If it’s creepy activities you’re looking for, you could also just read some of the recent headlines about Bill Murray…!)
(Great. Now they’re even remaking the Ghostbusters building!)

INVENTIONS WE’RE NOT SURE WE NEED:
⇒ Just in time for the start of the NHL season, kids can now be the proud owner of…their very own Zamboni! The “Kool Karz NHL Zamboni Ride-On Toy”, is a collaboration between the NHL, the Zamboni company and the Kool Karz Playground company, making rideable replicas of the ice resurfacing machines for kids aged 3-8. The league says the new toy allows kids who are “mesmerized” by the machines to “resurface around the house, in their driveway, and at their local street hockey rink or…playground.” The 22 lb. (10kg) “authentic replica” features the Zamboni machine’s unique horn sound, and has working headlights, a Bluetooth speaker and a “snow collection tank” for storage. The logos of each of the 32 NHL teams can also be emblazoned on it. List price: $399 Cdn. (Will it hold a 200-pound 35-year-old? Asking for a friend…) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2ea6w8ze
⇒ Elon Musk, has scented a new way to make money. Last week, he launched a perfume called “Burnt Hair” that he claims sold 10,000 bottles and earned a million dollars in just a few hours. On Twitter, Musk, who now describes himself on the platform as a ‘perfume salesman’, wrote: “With a name like mine, getting into the fragrance business was inevitable.” Burnt Hair, which goes for $100 a bottle, is described on its website as “The essence of repugnant desire”. Shipping starts early next year for the new product from the guy whose “boring Company” sold flamethrowers at $500 apiece in early 2018, raising $10 million. (Which just might explain why he has a bunch of “burnt hair” to get rid of…) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3udutc3y

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ A Cairo supermarket is taking its produce aisle to a new level of freshness. A hydroponic fridge grows different kinds of lettuce right there in the store, ensuring that no one can complain about freshness or travel distance. A hydroponic system grows certain plants in humid tubes without soil, supplemented with liquid fertilizer and nutrients. The system uses 90% less water than soil gardening, and is perfect for fast growing greens. The company, known as Schaduf, hopes to expand the technology to other stores to help reduce the carbon footprint of travel associated with fresh fruit and vegetables. (And if you already knew what “hydroponic growing” is, shame on you!)
➢ In Dubai, 150 people, smartphones out, watched as an electric flying taxi took off in the first public display of what the not-too distant future will bring. A gaggle of flying taxi companies around the world all seem to be on the verge of populating the skies with different versions of “eVTOL” vehicles, or “electric vertical take-off and landing.” XPeng Motors’ X2 flying taxi, used in the exhibition, is a teardrop-shaped 2-seater that can cruise at 1,000 meters at about 80 mph (130 kph). The battery can power a 35-minute flight, enough for a CEO’s quick carbon-free jaunt across a skyline. The test was unmanned, and done by automated control. (Which is good, considering the driving skills of any earthbound taxi drivers that I’ve ever witnessed!)

THINGS THAT ARE NOT COOL AFTER AGE 30:
According to an AskReddit thread…
☞ “Bailing on plans last minute. If you don’t want to do something, just say so.”
☞ “Anything loud. I’m finding that anything loud (voices, music, TV, etc.) is turning into noise for me. I’m surprised by how much my tolerance for ambient sound has drastically decreased.”
☞ “Being cool. At around 35, everyone…started realizing that all the things I thought were cool when we were 20 are actually really, really dumb and unimportant and we weren’t interested in them anymore.”
☞ “Anything that is called an “afterparty.” I am barely going to make it to the party, son.”
☞ “Night shift. I abused my 20s to it’s limit and (messed up) my sleep schedule so bad that even several years on days not hasn’t fully fixed.”
☞ “Flakes. As a single entering the dating scene again in my 30s, you could get away with being a flake and playing games in your 20s, but now, you’re just waving red flags in people’s faces.”
☞ “Hangovers. My hangovers really took the turn to the worst somewhere between 25-27. In my early 20s I could drink like a fish, stay up til 3 and wake up at 9 and go to my college class perfectly fine. Now, even when I get 8 hours of bed time (after drinking), the next day is basically ruined.”
☞ “Caring about what other people think is cool after age 30.”
(What would you like to add to this list? Please make no mention of my wardrobe!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Prince William has lost his crown…as “world’s hottest bald man”. A light-hearted study by Reboot SEO Agency took into consideration over 2.4 million tweets, plus facial analysis and the “cranial shine factor” of multiple celebrities (ie how shiny their heads are). This year, Vin Diesel took the top spot as the sexiest follicly-challenged male on the planet, dethroning the Prince of Wales, who has taken the accolade for the previous 2 years. In second spot this year is ever-popular actor Stanley Tucci.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Pasta Day”, celebrating the Italian staple that’s popular worldwide. There are over 350 varieties of pasta in Italy. A typical Italian eats over 60 lbs. of the stuff per year.
• “Wear Something Gaudy Day”. (Well, nice to see [***co-host***] is dressed for the occasion!)

• “Mulligan Day”, a day to give yourself, or someone else, a do-over – a 2nd chance at something botched – just like bad golfers give themselves. (***See today’s “Phone Starter”, below***)
• “Forgive an Ex Day”, when we’re encouraged to find the insight needed to move past the trauma of a broken relationship, no matter how long it lasted. (I can’t help but think it’s not a coincidence that this falls on “Mulligan Day”!)
• “Four Prunes Day”, when, believe it nor not, we’re supposed to celebrate by, you guessed it, eating 4 prunes! (Anyone wanna suggest a special name for what’s gonna happen tomorrow?)
• “Clean Your Virtual Desktop Day”, observed on the 3rd Monday of October at the behest of The Personal Computer Museum. Just look at all those app icons junking up your screen!
• “Adjust your Chair Day”, because people often sit in chairs in ways that strain their backs or cause long term problems. This day is dedicated to adjusting chairs — if they are adjustable—to ameliorate these problems…especially for people who spend long hours at a computer while sitting in an office chair.
