Thanks a Sheetload for Choosing “BS”!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Roman Polanski, the Oscar-winning director who fled the US after pleading guilty to statutory rape in 1977, has settled a separate civil case involving an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 1973. The lawsuit, set for trial next summer, has since been dismissed. Filed in June 2023, the suit accused 91-year-old Polanski of sexually assaulting the then-teenager, referred to as Jane Doe, after giving her tequila and driving her to his home. The plaintiff’s attorney said the encounter caused “tremendous physical, emotional pain and suffering.” Polanski’s lawyer confirmed the settlement, saying it was reached “to the parties’ mutual satisfaction.”

★ ‘Spider-Man’ will return – but we still have a ways to wait. On “The Tonight Show”, Tom Holland revealed that his next “Spider-Man” film will begin shooting in Summer 2025. When pressed on the subject by host Jimmy Fallon, the actor said: “Next summer, we start shooting,” Everything’s good to go, we’re nearly there. Super exciting.” That’s a large pivot pivot from comments Holland made just a week ago during a podcast appearance, where he revealed he’d recently read a script for the film, but “it needs work.” He did, however, say at the time that when he and Zandaya read it, they “were bouncing around the living room, like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.”

★ Sydney Sweeney is set to play legendary film star Kim Novak in Colman Domingo’s Sammy Davis Jr. biopic “Scandalous”, according to an insider at Miramax. The project co-stars David Jonsson as the iconic entertainer. Although plot details are being kept under wraps, the film centers on the scandalous and brief love affair between Novak and the Rat Packer, which took place in 1957. Principal photography will take place in Los Angeles after Sweeney and Domingo wrap the third season of HBO series “Euphoria.”

★ ‘The Daywalker’ will have to wait a bit longer to have his time in the sun. Disney has removed the Marvel reboot of “Blade” — starring Mahershala Ali as the half-vampire — from its release calendar. It was dated for Nov. 7, 2025. Instead, “Predator: Badlands” has been moved to that date. Until now, it was unclear if the new, 6th Predator film would be for streaming or theatrical. Blade’s removal from the schedule was not a surprise, as it is currently without a director and has faced numerous delays.
-Variety, HollywoodReporter
★ A TV series based on Stephen King’s novel “Carrie” is in development. Horror maven Mike Flanagan will write and executive produce the show for Amazon MGM Studios. The logline describes it as a “timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s…untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with…a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.” King’s 1972 book was adapted into a hit film in 1976 with Sissy Spacek in the title role.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Justin Bieber – is teasing that he has new music in the works. He took Instagram to share several pics of himself apparently at work in a music studio. He simply captioned the pics with the photographer’s name. Bieber hasn’t released a solo studio album since “Justice” in 2021. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2kcd3jps
• Sabrina Carpenter — In each of the past 8 weeks, she has had 3 songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. On the latest chart, ‘Espresso’ is at #2, while ‘Taste’ is at #8, and ‘Please Please Please’ is at #10. She’s the first artist to accomplish that 8-week feat since Drake, who posted 9 consecutive weeks with 3 top 10s in 2018, all from his “Scorpion” album.
• ‘NSYNC — Joey Fatone is returning to Broadway for the first time in 2 decades, where he’ll be singing ‘NSYNC songs, and songs by rival band Backstreet Boys. He has joined the cast of the musical “& Juliet.” The revisionist take on Shakespeare’s tale of star-crossed lovers is set to Max Martin’s pop hits, including ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’, and ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’. His 9-week engagement begins Jan. 21.
• Duran Duran – will release a concert film of their 2022 Halloween show. “Secret Oktober” was recorded at the Encore Theatre at Wynn, Las Vegas, and was the show that inspired them to record the spooky-themed album “Danse Macabre”. LINK: https://youtu.be/SyVvaMjIrVQ
• Foreigner – Fresh off their Rock Hall of Fame induction, they have extended their farewell tour into 2025 (even though the group contains zero original members). The band’s 2025 tour itinerary currently begins March 13 in Hollywood FL, and wraps up on Oct. 11 in Atlantic City NJ.
• The Rolling Stones – have announced the Dec. 6 release of “Welcome to Shepherd’s Bush”, a concert film that documents their surprise, rarities-packed 1999 show at an 1,800 seat London venue. It’ll be available on 4K UHD, a Blu-ray + 2-CD set, a 2-CD limited edition package and on vinyl. (Fun Fact: The whole show is on YouTube in HD…for now!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yb6n96zh
• Keith Urban – His wife, Nicole Kidman, inspired the naming of Luke Combs’ wife, Nicole Hocking Combs. Urban recently recounted that when he first met Hocking Combs, he used his go-to dad joke for whenever he’s introduced to a woman named Nicole: “We just met, and I got you tattooed on my arm.'” Her reply? “Actually, I was named after her.” Urban said it was the first time that has ever happened.
• Jelly Roll – His new album “Beautifully Broken” performed beautifully, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Naturally, the 28-track collection also debuted at #1 on the Country Albums chart.
• Hunter Hayes – has put out a new version of ‘Still Fallin’ off his forthcoming EP “Lost & Found”, dropping Nov. 15. The song, which was originally released in 2014, follows the recent re-release of ‘In A Song’, and is part of a trilogy of remastered and reimagined versions of previously released songs that will be featured on his newest project, “Lost & Found.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/6k43eu4h

SHOOTING THE BULL

GLOBAL ‘WARBING’:
If you suffer from allergies, it’s probably not news to you that allergy season is starting earlier and lasting longer. Why? Scientists have a number of possible causes, including the climate crisis. As temperatures stay warmer into fall, plants that release allergens have more time to grow. And you know what that means. Also, higher levels of carbon dioxide, thanks to fossil fuel use and emissions, also aid plant growth, which generates even more pollen. The most common culprit for fall allergies (and this won’t be news to allergy sufferers either…) is ragweed. It can release 1 billion grains of pollen per plant. Exposure to pollen exposure can trigger various allergic reactions, including symptoms of hay fever, also known as allergic rhinitis. A few tips on how to survive the allergy onslaught…
☞ Start medicating early. Allergists advise starting your usual course of medication a week or 2 before the usual season.
☞ Know what you’re allergic to. If you’re experiencing symptoms for the first time, an allergist can tell you whether you’re allergic to trees, grass, mold, or something else.
☞ Take care during workouts. The best time to exercise outdoors during allergy season is midday, when trees decrease their pollen production. (The best place? Indoors.)
☞ Keep pollen out of your home. Take off your shoes before you come in, don’t throw your clothes on the bed, and take a quick shower to get the pollen out of your hair.
(I always say that I’d rather it be freezing cold outside than suffer through allergies. Then, it gets freezing cold out…and I say the opposite!)
(Did you know allergies are your immune system’s way of treating a harmless substance as a big threat? So, as you can see, it’s in my DNA to be overly dramatic!)

JERKS RATING THEMSELVES:
If you’re interested in a guy who thinks he’s the most handsome – or one who thinks he’s the least handsome — guy around, a study says you should steer clear. A team at the University of Bergen, Norway studied young men in the UK, and found that those who see themselves as a the top, or at the bottom of the attractiveness scale, are more misogynistic than men who believe they are somewhere in the middle. Misogyny refers to the devaluation of women, and can even go as far as hatred, and shows as sexism, dismissiveness, manipulation, and even assault and other abuses toward females. The survey of 473 men included a battery of psychological assessments, and also found that men who support right-wing authoritarianism “are associated with increased hostility towards women.”
(Well. Apparently, it’s possible to be the best-looking person around – and still be ugly inside!)
(Dark, I know. But on the plus side, this shows how many guys probably DON’T have misogynistic tendencies!)

KISS N’ RIDE NOW, DAMMIT!
An airport in New Zealand would like those dropping passengers off to do it a little more hastily. Dunedin Airport has installed a new sign in its drop-off (or “kiss n’ ride”) zone, which reads: “Max hug time three minutes. For fonder farewells please use the car park.” As you might imagine, the new rule has sparked debate around the world. Some commenters on a Facebook post that went viral are livid that an airport would put a limit on cuddles, while others were amazed that airport still has a free drop-off area at all. The airport CEO Daniel De Bono said in a radio interview that a study showed that a 20-second hug is enough to get a burst of the “love hormone” oxytocin – and according to him, moving customers along quickly allows more people to get more hugs. (Coming soon: The “Tuck n’ Roll” area, minimum speed, 35mph!)
(I’m more concerned about the fact that they’re suggesting that people can go to the parking lot and get “fonder”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
If you’ve ever wished you could curl up with your doggo because it looks so comfy in its bed, Costco has you covered. The warehouse store is selling a new human-sized dog bed from Plufl. A Costco video creator posted about the viral dog beds for humans on Instagram, saying: “I remember seeing these (on) shark tank! …It’s so soft and cozy!! This is next level!” The $180 Plufl human-sized dog bed features a 360° pillow that “alleviates tension,” and a soft feel that’s designed to “reduce stress.” It also has an orthopedic memory foam base and is supposedly “easily transportable”, thanks to handles that make the bed foldable. And even better, it’s machine washable. (Which is great for those who buy this thing, and actually let the dog use it!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/997m5t8u
