BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Comedian Ralphie May discussed his health problems in a radio interview weeks before his death from cardiac arrest on Thursday. He called into an Albuquerque morning show on September 22 and said he was suffering from bronchitis. After performing eight shows in five states in six days, the 45-year-old said that he was too sick to appear at the radio station and would only be able to talk over the phone. May said he was ‘worn down’ from the hectic schedule and could barely walk down the hotel hallway. He was found dead at a private residence in Las Vegas early on Friday morning, just hours after performing.

★ James Woods posted a property listing containing an announcement of his retirement from acting on Friday. Woods now says that announcement was in error. In a subsequent interview, Woods said he was driving and distracted when the draft was read to him over the phone. “I somehow didn’t hear ‘retirement.’ My career is not going to end in a real estate announcement.” According to the original statement from a real estate agent, Woods was retiring from the entertainment industry and hoped to ‘simplify his life’ by selling ‘his many real estate holdings on both coasts.’” Woods also said that “No actor retires from the film business.”

★ ‘American Horror Story: Cult’ showrunner and creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that a major edit has been done to a mass shooting scene due to air in tonight’s episode. According to Murphy, he made the decision to have most of the story’s violence take place off-camera. Murphy says that he feels a “responsibility” to those who have fallen victim of gun violence. The original scene was graphically violent to make “an obvious anti-gun warning about society,” but due to the recent events in Las Vegas, that version of the scene will no longer make it to air when the series resumes tonight.

★ Ever since ‘The Walking Dead’ prequel series ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ prequel series was revealed, fans have been drooling over the possibility of a crossover, but producers have repeatedly shot the idea down. Until now. It was confirmed at New York Comic Con, and on the Twitter accounts for both ‘TWD’ and ‘Fear’, that a crossover will indeed be happening in the near future. Creator Robert Kirkman teased that one character “is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name.”

★ Sofia Vergara takes her health very seriously and wants others to understand the importance of checking for cancer. To do so, she has taken to Instagram to document her mammogram experience. October is breast cancer awareness month and the Vergara wants women to be aware of the importance of checking for abnormalities. 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

• Taylor Swift – counts the late Tom Petty as one of the main reasons she wanted to learn to play guitar. Quote: “He motivated thousands of guitarists to learn to play just because they wanted to be able to play ‘Free Fallin’. Count me as one of them”.
• Maroon 5 – have revealed that their long-awaited sixth studio album, ‘Red Blue Pills’, is on sale for pre-order. The actual release date is November 3.
• Scorpions – have cancelled the remaining five dates of their US tour after singer Klaus Meine was diagnosed with laryngitis. Dates were set to run through Sunday (October 15).
• Sammy Hagar – has partnered with meal delivery service Chef’d to create Mexican recipes inspired by his Cabo Wabo Cantina. There are six dishes to choose from, including braised pork shank in green chile sauce, crispy island chicken, huevos rancheros, and a dessert of, naturally, pound cake with berries and whipped cream.
• Bruce Springsteen – his 19th studio album is complete, though it still lacks a title and release date. The project won’t feature the E-Street Band, and Springsteen says it was inspired by Southern California pop music of the 1970s.
• Bryan Adams – has set Nov. 3 for the release of ‘Ultimate’, his first studio effort in two years. He teased fans with a 20-second clip of the pop ballad ‘Please Stay’ on Facebook.
• Madonna – says she still has a love letter from Tupac Shakur. According to her, it was hand-delivered by a friend after Shakur wrote it while behind bars.
• The Lovin’ Spoonful – Jerry Yester, known for playing on the band’s 1965 hit ‘Do You Believe In Magic,’ has been arrested for child pornography. The 74-year-old, who also served as a producer and arranger for artists including the Turtles, Pat Boone, and Tom Waits, was arrested Thursday in Arkansas and faces 30 counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing explicit pornographic material involving children.
• Jason Aldean – paid tribute to Tom Petty and the victims of the Las Vegas shootings in an emotional opening on Saturday Night Live. Quote: “This week, we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history. Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal. So many people are hurting. They’re our children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends — They’re all part of our family.”
• Dolly Parton – says the key to making her relationship work is having ”respect” for one another. She has been married to Carl Dean for 51 years, and although her spouse is rarely seen with her publicly, she says they are ”compatible”, and that their ability to be ”best friends” has helped them stay strong.

PLAYING WITH HEART:
With the hockey season getting underway, here is a little something to keep in mind if you are one of those ‘vocal’ fans who gets all wound up in the action. A study of Montreal Canadiens fans shows that watching hockey could trigger a cardiovascular event in some people. Researchers tracked 20 Habs fans while they viewed their favorite team in action, half watching on TV, half in the arena. Those sitting at home had an average heart-rate increase of 75%, while those watching live spiked 110%. The study’s lead researcher says the stress-induced response could trigger a heart-attack or stroke in fans with underlying cardiovascular problems.
(Well, it’s hockey. It IS life or death!)

VIRTUAL NOT REALITY:
You can rest easy. You are real. Physicists have determined that we are not all part of an enormous computer experiment. Conspiracy theorists perked up when Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk said in 2016 that it was entirely possible that we exist inside a simulated universe. Well, it looks like there’s no massive extraterrestrial computer with an epic program underlying all of existence. A study by theoretical physicists from Oxford University in the U.K., supposedly definitively confirms that life and reality aren’t products of a computer simulation. The theory is that some advanced future civilization developed equally-advanced computer simulations of past civilizations (our present) in a giant virtual reality experience. Supposedly, these advanced computer models run like today’s computer games. But the researchers have determined that creating such a large simulated universe is practically impossible. The simple reason: there are not enough particles in the known universe that could sustain the computing power necessary for a simulation of this scale.
(But what about the UNKNOWN universe? Like wherever this “advanced future civilization” is from?)
(Darn. Back to paying my taxes.)
(That’s it? That’s the only evidence they can find that we aren’t part of some huge computer scam? Lack of parts?)
