We’ve Got Our Sheet Together!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Actress Yvette Nicole Brown is leaving the study group … departing “Community” after playing ‘Shirley’ for 5 seasons on the college campus comedy. “Community” found a new home in June on Yahoo Screen after it was canceled by NBC-TV. No premiere date for Season 6 has been announced yet, although writing is currently underway. Cast members Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Alison Brie, and Ken Jeong are still set to return.
– “TV Guide”
★ Actress Lena Dunham has paid tribute to Nora Ephron by dedicating her new book, “Not That Kind Of Girl” (out this week), to the late filmmaker-writer. The “Girls” creator-star thanks the “You’ve Got Mail” director for her friendship and professional advice. Dunham also credits Ephron for advising her to find someone in her personal life who accepts and understands her. Shortly before Ephron passed away, Dunham fulfilled that by meeting boyfriend Jack Antonoff, of indie rock band fun..

★ Stella McCartney has designed a line of lingerie for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). The 43-year-old fashion designer has created the limited edition collection by re-designing bras from her Gemma Relaxing lingerie line in a pale pink palette. Proceeds from the collection, costing between $40-and-$80, go to the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool UK, named after Stella’s mother who died of breast cancer in 2000.
– “Women’s Wear Daily”
★ Chris Tucker & Jackie Chan’s blockbuster film franchise “Rush Hour” is heading to the small-screen. Warner Bros Television has recruited “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence and “Mad Men”  producer Blake McCormick to adapt the action films for TV. Like the movies, the series will follow the antics of a Hong Kong police officer who is assigned to partner up with a cocky cop in Los Angeles. Original “Rush Hour” director Brett Ratner is an executive producer on the project.
– “Entertainment Weekly”
★ And Lionsgate Entertainment is reviving its powerful “Twilight” franchise by selecting 5 female directors to make short films based on the saga’s characters. They will be shown exclusively on Facebook next year as a series called “The Storytellers – New Creative Voices of ‘The Twilight Saga’.” The 5 directors will be selected and mentored by a group of judges that includes “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart and book author Stephenie Meyer. Fans will help select the grand prize winner through Facebook and crowd-sourcing platform Tongal.

All I can say is it just doesn’t look very likely.” (BS translation: Robert Plant doesn’t wanna.)
• Taylor Swift – She’s on the cover of “Vogue” for the first time, gracing the front of the November issue in a Miu Miu pastel pink jacket and baby blue knit tank-top. The stunning photoshoot is by famed photographer Mario Testino.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “Boss Baby” – Alec Baldwin will voice the lead character, a fast-talking, suit-wearing, briefcase-toting baby, in this upcoming animated comedy. Kevin Spacey plays the bad guy, uber corporate villain ‘Francis E Francis’, the CEO of ‘Puppy Co’. The film is inspired by Marla Frazee’s children’s picture book of the same name.
• “The Fifth Wave” – This new sci-fi pic starring Chloe Grace Moretz is based on Rick Yancey’s Young Adult novel. The story follows a 16-year-old who survives several waves of deadly attacks against Earth’s population. An army of young human rebels rises up to save humanity from “The Others”. Production is currently under way.
• “Gumball 3000” – The international road rally that covers 3,000 miles of public roads is the basis for this upcoming comedic thriller. The race, currently in its 17th year, was also the subject of a 2003 movie and a 2009 reality-TV show. Ironically, the race itself was inspired by the 1976 film “The Gumball Rally”. There’s no word on casting for the new project as yet.
• “Social Suicide” – The stars of Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film “Romeo & Juliet” are reuniting to play the tragic heroine’s parents in a modern take on the romantic tragedy. Leonard Whiting & Olivia Hussey haven’t acted together since they played the star-crossed lovers, but now they’re re-teaming as ‘Lord & Lady Capulet’. Production on the new film began in London last week.
• “Zombie Broadway” – A movie adaptation of former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart’s 2008 graphic novel has been given the greenlight to start pre-production. The rocker created the comic book series as part of a deal with Virgin Comics. Swedish director Jonas Akerlund, who helmed “Beyoncé & Jay Z’s “On the Run” TV special, is directing the project.

DIGITAL CONSENT:
Want to make sure you and your date are on the same page before you hook up? There’s an app for that. ‘Good2Go’, which launched this week, is designed to get 2 parties to explicitly agree on a level of physical activity and log their level of intoxication with the hope of combating sexual assault, particularly on college campuses. Here’s how it works …
• After sparks fly with a potential hookup, one of the people involved launches the free app on his or her phone. When it’s opened, it displays the question, ‘Are we Good2Go?’. The other party then selects from: ‘No thanks’, ‘Yes, but we need to talk’, or ‘I’m Good2Go’.
• If the 1st option is chosen, a screen pops up that says ‘Remember! No means No! Only Yes means Yes, but it can be changed to No at any time!’.
• The 2nd choice pauses the app so the pair can have their discussion.
• The 3rd option prompts the parties to answer, honestly, whether they are ‘Sober’, ‘Mildly Intoxicated’, ‘Intoxicated but Good2Go’, or ‘Pretty Wasted’. Should the person fall into the latter category, the app declares that he or she cannot properly consent.
• Finally, the person who started the process receives a message with a summary of the terms agreed to and needs to click ‘OK’ before moving on.
(Just like in real life, when it comes to sex people are going to lie. Right, guys?)

HEALTH FADS THAT DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD:
A recent survey finds we spend over $1,200 a year on average on new supplements, fitness classes, and diet foods. A few trendy new crazes that experts warn you should be wary of …
• Do-It-Yourself Teeth Whitening – The Internet is loaded with crazy homemade recipes to whiten teeth, usually using highly acidic or abrasive ingredients. Over time these can actually make teeth appear more yellow as the outer enamel becomes worn away.
• Herbal Teas – They should be treated with caution, particularly fruit teas. They may help your diet, but they can be terrible for teeth because the acid in them is erosive. Lemon, in particular, is very acidic. Stick to having them only with a meal, dental experts advise.
• High-Dose Vitamins – Millions of us take supplements believing they help immunity. At best, these are a waste of money and, at worst, actually raise the risk of disease. For instance, most supplements of vitamin E contain amounts linked to higher risk of heart disease and cancer.
• Hot Yoga – Doing yoga in a studio heated to a sweaty 40 C (104 F) boosts blood flow, but also raises your heart-rate and loosens muscles to that point that you may push your joints beyond their natural stopping point.
• ‘Natural’ Sugar – So-called ‘healthy alternatives’ to sugar are often no better for you. Whether it’s agave nectar, honey, raw sugar, cane sugar, or fruit syrup; the body doesn’t process them any differently, and they may even have more calories than regular white sugar.
• No Food After 6 pm – This is a popular weight-loss trick. While it may stop you from over-eating, it could leave you sleep-deprived. Experts says you should aim to eat around 3 hours before bedtime. Any more than that and you could well be too hungry to sleep.
• Sleep Monitors – Fitness monitors and phone apps that claim to track your sleep are only 30-to-35% accurate, according to a sleep consultancy. And worrying about a reading that tells you your sleep quality is poor often serves only to make your sleep problems worse.

THE DEALERS REVEALED:
A new database from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services allows patients to discover the ties between their doctors and the pharmaceutical industry. The US government’s release of a trove of data this week has been widely hailed as a milestone for transparency. It allows patients to see if their physicians receive money from any of the companies whose products they prescribe. That’s right, physicians receive money and other perks from big pharma just for writing prescriptions, although the money is often justified as payment for ‘promotional talks’, ‘research’, or ‘consulting’. (One of the highest-paid professions also takes money for pushing drugs … does that not make your blood boil?)
