Bullseye!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kaley Cuoco’s estranged husband Ryan Sweeting wants spousal support in response to her divorce request last month. The 28-year-old tennis player, who is worth an estimated $2 million, wants the “Big Bang Theory” star to fork out monthly maintenance. The 29-year-old actress, believed to be worth circa $45 million, filed for divorce last month citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. What may swing the negotiations her way … the couple signed a pre-nuptial agreement a month before their marriage on December 31, 2013.
– “Entertainment Tonight”
★ A “Gilmore Girls” revival is in the works. Netflix has reportedly struck a deal to bring back the beloved family drama for a limited reunion series. Multiple sources confirm that the streaming service has been in negotiations with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to reboot the program, with stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel also onboard. Reports suggest the revival might consist of four 90-minute episodes. The show ran 2000-07 on the WB/CW networks.
– “Hollywood Reporter”
★ Ireland Baldwin has gotten a new tattoo to salute her 57-year-old famous actor-father Alec Baldwin. The 19-year-old model had the French word ”Écureuil” [aye-cure-rye] etched on her wrist at the West 4 Tattoo salon in NYC over the weekend. It means ‘Squirrel’ … her nickname for her hot-tempered dad. This isn’t the first time Ireland has gotten inked; she and her cousin Hailey got matching inkings earlier this year when they each had ‘Baldwin’ etched on their middle finger … normally a very busy digit for Alec.
– “New York Post”
★ 35-year-old new mom Zooey Deschanel has finally revealed her baby’s name. The “New Girl” actress and her husband Jacob Pechenik welcomed a new baby girl in July and have finally revealed the tag they’ve tormented the little tot with …. ‘Elsie Otter’. Speaking at this week’s “Rock the Kasbah” movie premiere, Zooey & Jacob revealed the source of the odd moniker. Quote: ”It’s like the animal. Sea otter.” Ah, that ‘splains it … sorta. The 35-year-old mother has big plans for her little girl, recently joking the 3-month-old is going to run for president. After all, Zooey says, she’s much cuter than Donald Trump.

• Luke Bryan – He’s #1 on the new ‘Billboard Top Country Albums’ chart with “Kill the Lights”.

MYSTERY MEAT:
The Dutch team who have grown the world’s first burger in a lab say they hope to have a product on sale within 5 years. The Maastricht University researchers have set up a company to investigate ways to make lab-grown burgers tastier and cheaper. The prototype from stem-cells that was cooked and eaten in London UK 2 years ago cost over $300,000 to make. It’s expected lab-grown burgers will begin as an exclusive product but will appear on supermarket shelves once demand has been established and the price comes down. An independent study has found that lab-grown beef uses 45% less energy, produces 96% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and requires 99% less land. (And you don’t feel guilty for eating ‘Bossy’.)

FROM THE BS POLL VAULT:
A statistical look at who we are and the things we do …
• 50% of newlyweds have invited an ex to their wedding (over half of the spouses didn’t know).
• 25% of people who hide cash in their home hide it in the freezer.
• 17% of women claim they have baited a hook with a worm.
• 15% of us say we’d be embarrassed if the boss saw our car.
• 13% of women wish their butt was bigger.
• 2% of us have never had a middle name.

HERE IN THE FUTURE:
Today is “Back To the Future Day”, the date ‘Marty’ and ‘Doc’ stepped into the future in the 2nd film of the sci-fi trilogy that was released in November 1989. Watching it back 26 years later, it’s impressive to note how many tech trends it predicted. Among them …
✓ Listen to the SFX used for cars as they pass, and you hear the near-silent hum that’s become associated with the Toyota Prius.
✓ Paying for a taxi ride with a thumb-print isn’t totally dissimilar to how we now hail cars and cashlessly pay for them using Uber and other pick-up services.
✓ Even the film’s iconic hoverboard chase scene is no longer totally outlandish. Lexus showed off a working hoverboard of its own in August, albeit one that relies on a hidden metal track.
✓ The tech world’s current fascination with wearable tech was foreshadowed by ‘Marty’ and his talking jacket.
✓ Nike has filed a patent for self-lacing shoes similar to those featured in the film.
✓ Another type of robot featured in the film is a mechanical car fuel attendant. The Netherlands has already tested such a device.
✓ A roll-up flatscreen shown in the ‘McFly’ home is reminiscent of the flexible panels LG recently showed off at trade shows.
✓ Voice-controlled televisions are already a reality thanks to smart TVs from Samsung and Sony as well as set-top boxes from Amazon and Apple.
The film’s biggest miss” It’s lack of smartphones. ‘Marty Jr’ is even seen using a payphone at one point. (Explain what a ‘payphone’ is to your offspring.)

FROZEN AIR:
Your kids are gonna love this … there’s now a “Frozen”-themed airplane. 2 years after the mega-hit movie musical debuted, Canada’s WestJet airline has revealed its “Frozen”-inspired aircraft that features ‘Anna’ and ‘Elsa’ on the tail, and ‘Olaf’ tanning on a beach near the cockpit. Even the inside of the plane is themed, with wintry ‘Arondale’ scenes on the overheard bins and colors that transition from warm to cold, starting with sunflowers and ending with full freeze and snowflakes in the rear bulkheads. WestJet’s first Disney-themed plane featured ‘Mickey Mouse’. The new plane was revealed at a WestJet event this week in Toronto ON. (Guess how your family wants to fly to Disney World this year.)

BS CUTTING-EDGE VOCAB:
New terms entering the lingo …
• ‘Disingenuflect’ – To act in a servile or worshipful manner insincerely or hypocritically. For instance, someone’s adeptness at something might be sarcastically saluted with a mock bow. (“We are not worthy to grace your presence …”)
• ‘Laneway House’ – A house that opens onto a back or side lane, particularly on a lot that has an existing dwelling. (“Yeah we live at 25-A Modesty Lane. Just head down the driveway, make a detour through the front seat of the parked car and you’ll be at our door.”)
• ‘Microtransit’ – A public transportation system that offers on-demand, door-to-door service. (It’s like Uber, only for short-busses.)

BS AMAZING FACT:
It will be the second time newly-elected Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has lived at the official residence, 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa. He spent more than a decade of his early life there while his father, Pierre, was Canada’s prime minister. (Bet he knows all the good hiding spots!)

BULL’S BITS

TRICK OR TWEET:
Actual tweets about Halloween that’ll make you howl …
✓ The scariest Halloween costume I can think of is “regular adult who wants to show you how well they play piano”.
✓ Skeletons are a weird costume cuz you already got one of those in your body so you’re pretty much a bone-Oreo with skin frosting.
✓ If I pay $40 for a haunted house I better die.
✓ If you really want to scare everyone this Halloween, dress up as intimacy.
✓ Halloween is coming up and I still have no idea what I’m going to be for the rest of my life.
✓ Idea for haunted house: Dimly-lit grocery store sprinkled with people you haven’t talked to since high school.
✓ My daughters used to wear inappropriately sexy costumes for Halloween but now that they’re 16 they only dress that way all the time.
✓ Friend: “What should I be for Halloween? Me: “My designated driver.”
✓ For Halloween I’m going as that feeling you get at a store when you try to refold a sweater properly and put it back on the shelf.
✓ Haunted house idea: You walking down a narrow hallway with Cheerios stuck to your sweatpants while your ex and his new family walk in front of you.
