Thanks For Being a Bull Market!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Tonight “Skyfall”, the 23rd ‘James Bond’ film, has its world premiere in London but theme-song singer Adele won’t be there as she’s opting to stay home with her new baby (see ‘Most Played Bond Themes’ below) . . . Actress-environmentalist Alicia Silverstone is recommending the eco-friendly vibrator ‘Leaf’ on the green living website OpenSky.com because, she says, it ‘comes in a bunch of different shapes inspired by nature’ (try the Redwood) . . . After the box-office success of “Paranormal Activity 4” this past weekend, Paramount has announced its intention to continue the franchise in 2013, with “Paranormal Activity 5” set for next Halloween (promise to quit before 100, ‘k?) . . . Actor Jim Carrey has reportedly dropped 150-grand on a party boat for the cast & crew of his new film “Kick Ass 2” to take them on a guided tour of London’s sights along the River Thames (aka ‘booze cruise’) . . . As her father Michael attempts to put Lindsay Lohan under a conservatorship, several of her friends have confirmed that the sorta actress is partying out of control and frequently getting wasted (we are so shocked!) . . . And 43-year-old writer-musician Chaz Bono has confirmed in “Sunday Times Magazine” that his Vegas entertainer-mother Cher has found dealing with his sex change ‘hard’ (perhaps a poor choice of phrasing?).

TODAY’S SHOW BIZ SKED:
• “Conan” (TBS/CTV) – Kendrick Lamar (“Good Kid, mAAd City”).
• “Good Morning America” (ABC) – Taylor Swift (“Red”) performs a live concert.
• “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC/CHCH) – Prince (“20Ten”).
• “Katie” (syndicated) – Classic rocker Rod Stewart.
• “Last Call With Carson Daly” (NBC) – The Hives (“Lex Hives”). Rerun.
• “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (NBC/CTV2) – Aimee Mann (“Charmer”).
• “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS/NTV/Omni1) – Taylor Swift (“Red”).
• “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC/CTV2) – M Ward (“A Wasteland Companion”).
• “The View” (ABC/CTV) – Tony Bennett (“Viva Duets”, out today).
• “The X Factor” (FOX/CTV) – The judges reveal which acts will advance.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beyoncé – She and Jay-Z have failed in their bid to trademark the name of their baby girl Blue Ivy. A judge has rejected the request because a party planning firm in Boston MA has been operating under the name Blue Ivy Events since 2009. (So much for the baby clothing line!)
• Bruce Springsteen – Tonight in Charlottesville, Virginia he performs a free concert in support of Barack Obama’s re-election bid. Tickets were made available on a first-come, first-served basis on Sunday.
• Christina Aguilera – Her upcoming 7th studio album “Lotus”, out November 13th, features a collaboration with her “‘The Voice” co-star Blake Shelton on the track “Just a Fool”. Last year she sang with fellow “The Voice” judge Adam Levine on the hit single “Moves Like Jagger”.
• Depeche Mode – Today they’re holding a press conference in Paris where the band ‘will be making an exciting announcement’. The alt-rock vets have been working in the studio on a new album, which will presumably be the focus of the event.
• Lady Antebellum – In the spirit of this week’s release of their seasonal album “On This Winter’s Night”, they’ve announced a special holiday concert in Nashville TN on December 3rd.
• Lady Gaga – She’s planning to launch her own bottled water brand. The name and shape of the bottle is being kept secret. (No matter the shape, it’s still litter.)
• Madonna – She’s been hit with a trademark infringement lawsuit from the executors of actor Marlon Brando’s estate, who claim she’s been using “The Godfather” star’s image without permission during each performance of her hit “Vogue” on her “MDNA Tour”.
• Michael Bublé – He tells “Vancouver Sun” he backed out of playing in a charity hockey game last week between the locked-out Vancouver Canucks and the UBC Thunderbirds because nerves got the best of him. Now he’s glad he did because the players were extremely fast.
• Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds / Snow Patrol – Tonight they embark on a co-headlining North American tour in Portland, Oregon.
• Peter Gabriel – This week his 1986 album “So” is being re-released in a digitally remastered 25th anniversary edition. It’s available in a 3-CD version and in a box set with live DVDs.
• Rolling Stones – Fans are complaining that Ticketmaster’s website is directing them to Get Me In!, a so-called ‘secondary ticketing site’ that’s charging as much as $25,000 each for duckets to the Stones’ upcoming 50th anniversary shows.

• “Madea’s Witness Protection” ( PG-13 Comedy ) – In writer-producer-director-actor Tyler Perry’s latest ‘Madea’ comedy, a Wall Street investment banker who has been set up as the linchpin of his company’s mob-backed Ponzi scheme is relocated with his family to ‘Aunt Madea’s southern home. HALLOWEEN HINTS:
You might have gone ‘Gaga’ on Halloween night last year but the 2012 musical cue seems to be all about “Gangnam Style”, as cultivated by the South Korean Internet sensation/fashion trendsetter PSY. The pop culture factor will also be responsible for a glut of ‘Honey Boo Boo’ impersonators, thanks to the Southern-fried moppet’s frighteningly rapid ascendancy to the reality throne. Likewise, more than a couple of couples are expected to make like ‘Anastasia & Christian’, complete with all the necessary paraphernalia, courtesy of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” literary phenomenon. You should also expect sightings of Patricia Krentcil, better known as the scary ‘Tanning Mom’. (But we’re guessing like 1-in-3 people will be “Walking Dead”.)

TRENDING COSTUMES:
Two of last year’s big Halloween costume trends – zombies and sexy girl get-ups – have been grafted together for 2012. Among our fave mash-ups …
✓ ‘The Sexy Zombie Ghoul Scout Costume’
✓ ‘The Sexy Zombie Snow White Costume’
✓ ‘The Amy Winehouse Scary Zombie Rehab Costume’

SURPRISING FOODS YOU SHOULD AVOID:
Foods you should never eat, according to Middleberg Nutrition …
✗ Artificial Sweeteners – They’re way sweeter than sugar and can reset your taste buds to crave sugary foods. As a result, you end up eating more junk.
✗ Margarine – Has loads of trans fats, which increase your cholesterol. And it contains a lot of ingredients vs butter’s one or two. The calorie count is also similar to butter.
✗ Soy Protein Isolate – Research has shown that this refined, often genetically-modified form of soy that pops up in a lot of soy-based products can increase cancer risk.
✗ Diet Foods – Unfortunately, ‘diet’ or ‘low-fat’ doesn’t mean low-calorie. Diet bars and low-fat foods like yogurts usually have more sugar, salt, and unhealthy fillers to make them taste okay.
✗ Frozen Meals – They’re often heavily processed and filled with fat and salt. Frozen fruits and veggies are okay, as long as you look for options without added sauces or salt.

BLOW IN THE AIR:
Dope. It’s not only found on money anymore. Turns out all you have to do to inhale some cocaine in Rome is to go outdoors and take a breath. A study of psychotropic drug levels in ambient air from 8 Italian cities has found background levels of cocaine, cannabinoids – the active ingredients in marijuana – nicotine, and caffeine in every urban center. Turin had the highest concentrations of cocaine, according to the Institute of Atmospheric Pollution Research in Rome. Bologna and Florence had some of the highest cannabinoid levels, which is attributed to the large student populations in those cities. (Crap, all we get is sulphur!)

• Green-yellow is the safest color for a car as it’s most visible under most road conditions.
• There are almost as many chickens in the world as people.
• You can make 5 baseball gloves from 1 cow.
