★ Just in time for Halloween, MTV has announced it’s finally moving forward with its long-awaited “Scream” drama series, a small-screen reboot of Kevin Williamson & Wes Craven’s popular horror movie franchise (4 films 1996-2011). The 10-episode reboot is slated to begin in October 2015. “Scream” will star an ensemble cast that includes newcomer Amadeus Serafini. (Who’s said to be very attractive and is therefore probably the killer.)

★ And this week sorta actress Lindsay Lohan has skipped performances of her West End London play “Speed-The-Plow” after ‘falling ill’. The 28-year-old actress, who has been getting ‘mixed’ reviews for her role in the David Mamet drama, alerted fans via Twitter that she’s ‘down for the count’ and her doctor wants her to rest. • Birdman – Saturday in Shreveport LA he begins “The Lifestyle Tour”, alongside newcomers Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan.
• Elton John – This week he hosted his 13th annual AIDS Foundation benefit at Cipriani in NYC, but remained seated most of the night as he’s recovering from a knee operation. He did take to the stage at the end of the evening to perform his hits “Tiny Dancer” and “Your Song”.
• Manchester Orchestra – In support of the new album “Hope” (November 18th), they kick off their “Stripped Down Tour” tonight in Memphis TN. The 13-date trek concludes at the Cumberland Caverns, a unique venue located in a 28-mile-long cave in McMinnville TN.
• Queens Of the Stone Age – Tonight they finish up their “…Like Clockwork World Tour” with a big Halloween bash at The Forum in Los Angeles. The spooky event also features sideshow attractions, costume contests, and the ‘Blackout Haunted House’.
• Taylor Swift – “Billboard” is reporting she’s on track to sell a million records … this week. Her new “1989” album is competing with 2014’s top-sellers: “Frozen” (3.2 million) and “Beyoncé” (787,000).
• Usher – Saturday he launches his “UR Experience” North American tour in Montréal QC, then movies on to Toronto ON on Sunday. The trek hits 27 cities in November and December before moving overseas to Europe.

The idea of growing mustaches to highlight men’s health in November began in Melbourne, Australia’s Gypsy Bar back in 2003 when 2 guys challenged their friends to join them in growing ‘staches for charity. Those original 30 guys quickly became more than 4 million worldwide. The movement began with a focus on prostate cancer and, later, testicular cancer, both male exclusive diseases. Eventually, as ‘Movember’ grew so did its scope, to include mental health as well as the overall physical wellness of men. New research from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario has found that simply changing the way you walk can make you happier. In the study, researchers had one group change their gait so they unknowingly walked in a ‘sad’ style … a slumped posture with shoulders hanging forward and little arm-swing. The other group took on a ‘happy’ style … more arm movement and an up-and-down bounce. In tests, the sad walkers tended to remember more negative events and focused more on them. This memory bias is important because it plays a big role in establishing and maintaining depression, researchers say. So if you’re looking for a quick way to lift your spirits, walk ‘happy’ and you’ll feel better. (But you’ll be mercilessly mocked.)

WORD ON THE TWEET:
A new app developed by scientists at Queen Mary University of London identifies birdsong in real-time. ‘Warblr’ is capable of recognising the tweets of some 88 different bird species. Like the song recognition app Shazam, it works by recording nearby noise on a smartphone, then analyses it and identifies the bird species. Geo-tracking enables the app to map out which species are spotted where and when, allowing users to track migration patterns and monitor species. The app will be released next Spring and will likely cost around $3. There’s just one problem … in an early test it struggled to distinguish between a Canada Goose and a … screaming child. (That’s easy, a screaming child doesn’t crap all over your local park.)
