★ Mariah Carey is reportedly asking for a $50-million settlement from Aussie billionaire James Packer after the engaged pair split. She apparently believes a large settlement is due because she had to ‘uproot her life and move to Los Angeles’ for him. An inside source tells Page Six: ”Of course Mariah wants money, but she’s not getting $50 million. There’s no negotiations about money because they haven’t spoken since the split.”

★ Estranged couple Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie have sold their home in New Orleans LA for $4.9 million. Brangelina bought the luxurious 3-story 1830s-era mansion in the French Quarter in 2007 for $3.5 million. And it seems the New Orleans property may not be the only Jolie-Pitt home up for sale. They’ve also reportedly agreed to part with Chateau Miraval, their country estate in the south of France. The 1,200-acre property was purchased for $60 million in 2012.

★ And California’s Mike Lin filed a trademark for “Nasty Woman” the day after Donald Trump used the term to insult Hillary Clinton during the 3rd US presidential debate. He immediately began selling T-shirts emblazoned with the slogan at his online store. Problem is, people on Etsy and other sites are selling their own “Nasty Woman” tees – so he’s gotta go after them. He may be in for a long court battle though; registering a trademark can take up to a year.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Adele – Rumors are circulating in Britain that the 28-year-old has become engaged to her boyfriend of 5 years, Simon Konecki.
• AFI – They’re releasing their first new album since 2013’s “Burial” early next year. The self-titled new record is already available for pre-order in the iTunes Music Store.
• Blackberry Smoke – They’re set to debut at #1 on tomorrow’s new ‘Billboard Country Albums’ chart with “Like an Arrow”.
• Elton John – He’s announced he’s putting out a vinyl box set of albums in collaboration with fashion house Burberry. The set is limited to 800 copies, yet even that might be a struggle to shift if recent sales are any guide.
• Kanye West – He’s added yet another show at The Forum in Los Angeles, making a total of 6. He already appeared at the venue last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; and he’s now repeating that schedule this week.
• Little Mix – They’ve knocked James Arthur out of the #1 spot on the new UK singles chart, the first time one Brit artist has replaced another since last November.
• Outkast – Big Boi is expanding his dog empire by launching his own line of pet shampoo. He’s a co-owner of Pitfall Kennels in his hometown of Atlanta GA and has teamed with pet product guru Bobbi Panter on 6 different shampoos that are now being sold online.

ANOTHER REVERSAL:
Among things all females learn early on is you guzzle cranberry juice to prevent a urinary tract infection, which 1-in-5 women eventually get. The reason: cranberries purportedly have an ingredient that can keep bacteria from sticking to the bladder and urinary tract. But now researchers say that idea is nothing more than an old wives’ tale. A study of older women in nursing homes – where UTIs are the most commonly diagnosed infection – found no difference among women given daily cranberry capsules and those given placebos. Although this study only involves nursing home women, the researchers note that many other studies done in other situations have not shown any benefit. (No to self: sell Ocean Spray shares.)

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
• A Ukrainian man has officially changed his name to … iPhone 7. After an electronics store offered the latest Apple product to the first people to do that, 20-year old iPhone Sim (Ukrainian for ‘Seven’) got the coveted prize Friday. Sounds dumb but makes a bit of sense financially. A smartphone costs at least $850 in Ukraine, while a name change costs the equivalent of $2.

• An Arizona fugitive stopped for fast-food … in the middle of police chase. The 35-year-old who’s wanted on an outstanding warrant refused to stop when cops tried to pull him over. A police helicopter then followed him as he drove through greater Phoenix and even watched as he went through a drive-thru to order food. He was arrested after abandoning his vehicle.

SKINNY IS OUT:
With just 1 sentence in its October catalogue, retailer J Crew has triggered a veritable online panic about the death of … the skinny tie. Quote: “We widened our ties by ¼” to keep up with today’s changing proportions.” For the past few years, ties of 2½ inches (in some cases, as thin as just a single inch) have been commonplace among a certain set of tie-wearers. But J Crew’s ties are now 2½-to-2¾ inches. Skinny ties were really only a thing for the ultra-hip, young crowd. For those not in that demographic, 3-to-3¼ inches is standard. Besides skinny ties go best with skinny suits, and skinny suits are also going out of style in the fashion world. (Time to dig out those wide ’90s ties in the back of your closet, guys.)
