BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ryan Gosling is finding it ”harder and harder” to talk about his new movie ‘Blade Runner 2049′, because of the suffering in America. Gosling says that it feels strange to be promoting his film at a time when the U.S. has been left in turmoil because of the impact of devastating hurricanes, and the tragic shooting at the ‘Route 91 Harvest Festival’ in Las Vegas on Sunday. But he does understand that people also need to focus on lighter subjects. ‘Blade Runner 2049’ opens today.

★ John Bradley promises a ‘monumental’ final season of ‘Game Of Thrones’. With no official premiere date, ‘Game of Thrones’ could make its return as soon as next year, or it could be delayed until some point in 2019. Meantime, Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly in the series, says that “Every single episode of the six you’ve got left in Season 8 is gonna be monumental…I think what we used to call Episode 9 in ‘Game of Thrones’ folklore – the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences – I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9’s this year”.

★ Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend will soon be trying for their second child. The couple conceived their daughter Luna, now 17 months, through fertility treatment and still have one frozen embryo left, and Teigen says she will have it transferred to her womb in the coming months.

★ During an interview on British TV on Wednesday, Kate Winslet revealed she DID NOT have a crush on Leo DiCaprio while they were filming ‘Titanic’. Winslet says that the shoot “was seven months of very intense work, we were both really very young. And luckily, and this was the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other!” While she admits she knows that maybe that isn’t what people want to hear, it did have its advantages. She says that allowed them to tease each other, which they still do.

★ Nicole Kidman is set to star in a new crime thriller called ‘Destroyer’. Kidman has been cast to play LAPD detective Erin Bell in director Karyn Kusana’s upcoming movie. The movie follows the existential crisis of Erin, who, as a young officer, was placed undercover a cult-like gang in the California desert.

• Dire Straits — are among the first-time nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other potential inductees include Judas Priest, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Kate Bush and the Moody Blues. Bon Jovi, Depeche Mode, The Cars and the Zombies are returning nominees to join the Rock Hall in 2018.
• Taylor Swift – leads the nominees for the 2017 MTV EMAs with six nominations, including one for her ‘Look What You Make Me Do’ video and one for “Best Look”, in which she competes against her ex, Harry Styles.
• Kesha – she praises Taylor Swift, calling her a “(expletive) sweetheart,” in a new Rolling Stone story. Kesha says that Swift is “Very, very sweet, very, very genuine, extremely generous, picks up the phone every time I call her”. She then says: “My mom doesn’t even always pick up the phone!”
• Ed Sheeran – says the inspiration behind his song ‘Perfect’ is his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. (It had BETTER be!). When asked if she could be ‘the one’, Sheeran said: “Undoubtedly”.
• Smashing Pumpkins – Billy Corgan played a slew of new songs slated for his upcoming solo album during a show in Berlin. Among them: “Zowie,” a tribute to David Bowie.
• Bruce Springsteen – thinks his wife is underrated. He says Patti Scialfa is “A very distinctive, underrated singer and songwriter” and because of her connection to him, she may have gone unnoticed. Scialfa is working on a “great” solo album now.
• Eagles – will perform an invitation-only show at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on October 29th. It’s part of a partnership with SiriusXM, which will launch a limited-run Eagles Channel in mid-November.
• Kenny Chesney – his ‘All the Pretty Girls’ takes the #1 spot this week on Billboard’s country airplay chart. Meanwhile, Thomas Rhett’s ‘Life Changes’ remains the top country album for the third straight week. Midland boasts the highest debuting album with ‘On the Rocks’ at #2. Also new, and entering at #3, is Home Free’s ‘Timeless’.
• Jason Aldean – has canceled his upcoming concerts “out of respect for the victims” of the Las Vegas shooting. Aldean announced in a statement on social media that has canceled concerts this weekend in order to “take some time to mourn the ones we have lost and be close to family and friends.” The tour will resume next week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

SMARTPHONE FOR THOSE STUPID BUGS:
Add ‘mosquito-repellent’ to the already huge list of useful of smartphone features. Phone manufacturer LG has released the world’s first mosquito repellent smartphone, which uses ultrasonic sound waves to keep skeeters away. The thing is, at this point, you have to buy a phone, not an app to get it. The ‘LG K7i’, was unveiled at the ‘India Mobile Congress’ last week, and indications are that it’s set to become a best-seller in mosquito-infested countries. And more good news: It’s cheap! Selling for the equivalent of US$122, it is being marketed as a ‘budget’ smartphone. How does it work? The K7i features LG’s ‘Mosquito Away’ technology, which can supposedly repel mosquitoes with the use of ultrasonic sound waves. Oh, and it is ‘absolutely safe’ for humans.
(Good thing it’s cheap. Around here, We’re going to need 4 or 5!)

✧ Queen Elizabeth II – ‘Lilibet’ – As a child, she nicknamed herself ‘Tillabet’. As she grew up, Tillabet became Lilibet, and some of her family and close friends still use the name. And brace yourself, because this just might be the cutest thing you hear all day: Prince Philip calls his dear wife, Queen Elizabeth, ‘cabbage’. (Not ‘Crabbage’….‘Cabbage’!)
✧ Prince Harry – ‘Wombat’- Harry got this sweet nickname from his mother when he was two. Princess Diana got the inspiration for it while they were all vacationing in Australia. (Somehow, this fits!). Harry has also been known as ‘Spike’. For a while, Spike was his alias. He had a Facebook page under the name ‘Spike Wells’ so he could be on social media undercover.
✧ Prince William – ‘Steve’- William had this nickname to protect his identity as a member of the royal family. And when he studied at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, he was known as Steve.
✧ Kate, Duchess of Cambridge – ‘Squeak’- Before she married into the royal family, young Kate Middleton shared a nickname with one of her pet guinea pigs. There was one called Pip and one called Squeak. Because her sister is ‘Pippa’, Kate became ‘Squeak’. Kate’s classmates allegedly called her ‘Princess-in-waiting’ at Marlborough College, before she even met her royal husband. (Weird!)
