Here’s More Bull Roar!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ 27-year-old actress Vanessa Hudgens thinks a woman’s ‘pooch’ is the problem area for all women and is the one part of the body all females have to work hard on to make it go away and be able to boast a super-toned torso. The ‘pooch’, in case you’re wondering, is apparently the stomach region. Hudgens suggests women should to be less critical of their pooches and appreciate them for working hard to digest food and fight bacteria.

★ It was Shannen Doherty’s dog that detected her breast cancer before doctors diagnosed it in February 2015. The 45-year-old tells “Entertainment Tonight” she believes her pet ‘Bowie’ knew something was wrong long before that as she kept obsessively sniffing the actress’ right side. Doherty underwent a single mastectomy in May this year and has currently undergone 3 of 8 rounds of chemotherapy since finding out the disease has spread to her lymph nodes. She says whenever she returns from treatment, her beloved Bowie is even more protective than usual.

★ The parents of “Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin are suing the makers of the Jeep Grand Cherokee that crushed and killed the 27-year-old. This week they filed a wrongful-death and product-liability lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler in Los Angeles Superior Court. The suit contends that the gear selector in the actor’s Jeep was defective, and poorly designed and manufactured. The suit does not stipulate how much Yelchin’s parents are seeking in damages. Meantime, new reports suggest Yelchin had $641,000 cash in the bank when he died … and no will.

★ Terrence Howard is being sued by his former management company and the documents claim he was close to being fired from the hit FOX-TV show “Empire”. The 47-year-old, who plays music mogul ‘Lucious Lyon’, is alleged to owe Authentic Talent & Literary Management several hundreds-of-thousands’ in commissions. Reps say they negotiated a 7-year contract for Howard and later saved his job by convincing producers not to terminate him from the show. It’s not stated when or why he was at risk. He cut ties with the management team via e-mail in 2014.

★ And “Late Late Show” host James Corden has previously said that Beyoncé is the person he’d most like to have on for a sing-a-long in his ‘Carpool Karaoke’ feature. He’s so far shared his car with the likes of Adele, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and even Michelle Obama, but he’s yet to land his most craved guest. However, he’s just revealed that a date with Bey may not be far off. Quote: “It would break the Internet. She’s on tour right now. We’re working on it.” Also on the wish list: Kanye West, who’s cancelled out twice.

The daredevil will live-stream his September 17th attempt to anyone who donates.

COMING ATTRACTIONS:
A BS selection of movies in the making …
• “The Goldfinch” – Fresh off his Oscar-nominated pic “Brooklyn”, director John Crowley has set his sights on guiding another novel to the bigscreen, Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer-winning 2013 bestseller. It’s the story of a 13-year-old boy who, after surviving a terrorist bombing at an art museum that kills his mother, steals a world-famous painting.
• “Ingrid Goes West” – 27-year-old actress Elizabeth Olsen (“Captain America: Civil War”) stars alongside Aubrey Plaza in this upcoming independent comedy, which centers on society’s overwhelming obsession with celebrity culture. Olsen plays a social media star; Plaza the obsessed fan who relocates to live nearer to her idol. Filming is underway in Los Angeles CA.
• “The Professor & The Madman” – Mel Gibson is starring in the true story of the creation of the “Oxford English Dictionary”. Gibson portrays Professor James Murray, who began compiling the dictionary in 1857. Sean Penn is in negotiations to play Dr WC Minor, who submitted over 10,000 entries for the tome while an inmate of an asylum for the criminally insane.
• “Rogue Male” – 40-year-old Benedict Cumberbatch is starring in and producing an adaptation of Geoffrey Household’s classic novel about a hunter who is caught, tortured, and left for dead. The novel was previously adapted to the screen in 1940’s “Man Hunt”, then Peter O’Toole starred in a BBC-TV production of it in 1977.
• “Splash” – Disney is planning a gender-bending remake of this 1980s comedy with Channing Tatum starring as a ‘merman’. The “Magic Mike” star takes on the mermaid role originated by Daryl Hannah, while Jillian Bell fills the co-starring part that helped launch Tom Hanks’ career. Tatum also serves as a producer alongside Ron Howard, who directed the 1984 release.
DOES YOUR DOG LOVE YOU BACK?
Science says yes! Convinced that there is far more to a dog’s emotional intelligence than what common thinking suggests, neuroscientist Gregory Berns of Emory University in Atlanta GA has used MRI scans on his own dog to prove that the parts of a dog’s brain associated with love and pleasure react the same way as a human’s when exposed to positive stimuli. The ‘Dog Project’, as it’s called, has led to Berns publishing the book “How Dogs Love Us: A Neuroscientist & His Adopted Dog Decode the Canine Brain”. It suggests that dogs really can empathize with human emotions and therefore are capable of valuing friendship just like their owners. (Right. Cut off the table scraps and see how many sloppy kisses you get.)

IS THERE SUCH A THING?
A Frenchman is suing his former employer for ‘bore out’ – boredom’s equivalent of ‘burnout’ – which he claims turned him into a ‘professional zombie’. Frederic Desnard wants €360,000 (circa $400,000) for being “killed professionally through boredom” in his 80,000-euro-a-year ($90,000) job as an executive in a perfume business. Every aspect of it is the same, he says. The commute every day is the same, the people are the same, the lunch is the same. You turn up every morning and sit there. Boredom expert Dr Sandi Mann says workplace boredom is a growing problem and a significant source of stress and depression for many. It can have severe consequences including reduced life expectancy, she says. (Um, it’s called doing your job.)

SCIENTISTS SAY:
A BS compendium of recent ‘discoveries’ –
• Scientists say … that the majority of heart attacks occur at 8 o’clock in the morning, according to the “Harvard Medical Journal”. (So have a nice day. Actually it’s 7:55 … so have a nice 5 minutes.)
• Scientists say … that women may express their feelings more than men, but men experience the same ones. Researchers at Vanderbilt University also say that, though men and women show an equal amount of emotion physiologically, the feelings never show up on men’s faces. (Especially those pumped full of Botox, right Arnold?)
• Scientists say … that blowing off steam when you’re angry may actually make you angrier. For instance, if you take your anger out on a punching bag, you may experience an increase in your anger. (Especially if the punching bag knocks you down a few times.)
• Scientists say … you can rid yourself of pesky mosquitoes if you stop breathing. Apparently the more you breath, the more carbon dioxide you exhale and that’s how the little pests find their targets. (The reason dead people have fewer mosquito bites.)
FOR THE RECORD:
Over a thousand robots have broken a world record with a synchronized dance routine. 1,040 robots, each just under 44 cm (17 ins) in height, started their synchronized dance routine in Qingdao, China. 1,007 finished the challenge, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous robot dance. (Goes to show robots can do more than work in factories!)
