Tomorrow’s Show Prep Today!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
[***UPDATE***] ★ Pat Sajak, the longtime host of “Wheel of Fortune”, has announced his retirement. On social media, he wrote: “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months….If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!” Sajak, who is 76, joined the show in 1981. He also hosted a daytime version of the series throughout the ’80s. He’s won 3 Daytime Emmys, plus a Lifetime Achievement honor. In 2018, he succeeded “The Price Is Right’s” Bob Barker as the longest-running host of a game show. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ybzruz3z

★ Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson’s 10-month-old baby son Tatum was a Kardashian when he was born, sources say. TMZ reports that after it was revealed that Thompson had got another woman pregnant following his and Kardashian’s decision to have a child via surrogacy, the reality TV star decided to give their son her surname. But insiders say that although Tatum was initially legally a Kardashian, she eventually had a change of heart. The sources added that Tatum’s first name also wasn’t Tatum at first. Kardashian and Thompson’s relationship has hit headlines over the years, with his multiple cheating scandals.

★ In what will be her first film promotion appearance in a long time, Amber Heard is set to appear at the 69th Taormina Film Festival (in Sicily) for the world premiere of “In The Fire”. The film will premiere June 24. In the Fire is described as a supernatural thriller that stars Heard as a pioneering psychiatrist in 1899, who sets out to treat a desperate child at a time when psychiatry is not yet a respected science.

★ It’s a new spin on an old game show. Sony Pictures Television has announced it is planning a spin-off of the iconic game show “Wheel of Fortune” – that will be geared toward children and younger audiences. While details of the new game show are unclear, it was reported that it will involve the use of physical and comedic challenges that will help contestants earn letters. A spokesperson for Sony said its intention is to become the “premier content creator for kids.”

★ Jennifer Lawrence says she’s “totally” open to return to “The Hunger Games”. She became a household name by portraying ‘Katniss Everdeen’ in all 4 movies, which were released between 2012 and 2015 – and she admitted she’d be delighted to be asked to reprise the role once again. During an interview, she said: “Oh, my God – totally! If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100%!” In November, the prequel “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”, will be released, but Lawrence is not part of the cast.

★ Bryan Cranston took to Instagram to clarify that he’s not entirely fading away from Hollywood, despite his statement that he wants to take time off when he turns 70, in 2 years. In the new post, he said he does plan to hit the “pause” button, in order to spend time with his wife Robin. He also plans to “unplug from social media, step off the hamster wheel of business, and dive into the classic novels that I’ve always promised myself I would read but haven’t”. He also pointed out that he has several projects on the go that fans will get to enjoy before and during his break from showbiz.

★ “The Partridge Family” is coming back! Sony Pictures Television has announced an animated reboot of the classic 1970s show about the musical family. The series will focus on a Black family in Brooklyn. Operating a food truck, the family travels throughout the 5 boroughs of New York to “serve up treats and tunes.” The original series had a similar premise, except it followed the family embarking on a tour across the country, with most episodes after the first season taking place in the family’s hometown.

SHOOTING THE BULL

NICE THREAD:
Facebook parent company Meta has been testing its new Twitter-like social media site, and experts say it could launch soon. The app, which is being called “Project 92” for now, has been offered for months to celebrities and influencers, and the company gave employees a sneak preview last week. Screenshots show a mobile app with an appearance very similar to that of Twitter, featuring verified users, ‘like’ and ‘reshare’ buttons, and a messaging option. Meta has gone on record as saying it believes there’s an opportunity for “a separate space where creators and public figures can share timely updates about their interests.” While a launch date has not been announced – much less an official name, some reports have it being called “Threads”, and say it could be made available as early as this month.
(You know what this means, don’t you? Now, Elon’s going to respond with his own version of Facebook!)
(Because we really need ANOTHER online cesspool of humanity?)
(It’s too bad that Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t the one to purchase Twitter. He could have renamed it “Zuckerbird”!)

HOT TIP:
Although sleeping in the nude may seem like the obvious way to stay cool during a heat wave, a psychologist is warning us that it’s a bad idea, because it may have the opposite effect. Suzy Reading says she doesn’t recommend sleeping in the buff, because it causes sweat to collect on your skin “rather than being absorbed by the fibers of your clothing and cooling you down.” So, sleeping without clothes on can actually make you warmer. Instead of naked sleeping, she advises wearing “loose fitting, airy, light garments in natural fibers,” and suggests cotton, silk, eucalyptus or bamboo, preferably in lighter-colored hues. By the way, she says there are certain foods that you should avoid when it’s hot out. Reading says to steer clear of foods that are spicy or high in fat, as they can increase your body temperature.
(Trust me, lady. Sleeping naked will NOT make me hotter…)
(Well, I know this: When I sleep naked, it definitely cools my wife off!)

NICE DAY FOR A ‘GREEN’ WEDDING:
Like pretty much everything else, the cost of getting married has jumped significantly in recent years. But it seems that some couples aren’t shy about asking total strangers for financial help. A Reddit user known as Skyon_High posted a pic of a car in her neighborhood that has the phrase, “Just married,” written on the back window — along with the couple’s Venmo username. (Venmo is a mobile payment service.) The Reddit user uploaded the photo to the “Wedding Shaming” subreddit, writing: “This is as tacky as it gets…. Not even a ‘buy the bride a drink’ just money [please]. Disappointed in my neighbor. [Shaking my head].” At least she was kind enough to redact the couple’s username and license plate in the photo. In a Reddit chat, Skyon_High wrote that she saw the parked car in Mount Lake Terrace, near Seattle. The post has received more than 1,200 upvotes and a “greedy” label from members of the Wedding Shaming subreddit.
(Tacky? Yes. But if you’ve ever visited the “Wedding Shaming” subreddit, you’d know this might be the classiest thing on there!)
(Tacky? Yes. Also tacky? Belonging to an internet group dedicated to shaming people involved in weddings!)

TRAITS YOU CAN ONLY INHERIT FROM YOUR FATHER:
On Father’s Day, you can give your dad credit…or blame…for these:
☞ Your gender:  If you paid attention during biology class, this won’t be news to you. But, yes – it is men who are 100% responsible for the gender of a baby.
☞ Crooked teeth:  Studies show that if a child is prone to crooked teeth, gum problems, cavities, or even tooth decay at an early age, this can all be traced back to the father. (And not just because he bribed me with candy to shut up and go to bed!)
☞ Height:  Your height is determined by about 700 genetic variations inherited from both parents. But the father’s height genes are the ones charged with stimulating the growth of the baby, which is why they determine our height. (So…I’m not short because I didn’t drink all my milk?)
☞ Dimples:  As adorable as they are (especially on babies), scientists describe dimples as a defect caused mainly due to shortened facial muscles. And you guessed it: that’s a genetic trait inherited from the father of the child.
☞ Sneezing (!!):  If you’re the type of person who sneezes first thing in the morning or when you look at the sun, or the second you step outside, guess what? It’s something you got from your dad! Sneezing is a genetic trait that the father is responsible for. (I know MY dad definitely sneezed at the price I paid for my first car!)

DID YOU KNOW?
MMA fighter Conor McGregor sent the Miami Heat’s beloved mascot, Burnie, to the emergency room in a promotional stunt gone wrong. Friday night, during Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the visiting Denver Nuggets and Miami, Burnie, a 7-foot-6 depiction of the team’s fireball logo, came out wearing a robe and gold boxing gloves in what was supposed to be a skit. McGregor’s playfully doused his pain relief spray on Burnie and then, out of nowhere, he clocked the mascot square in the head, sending Burnie flat to the ground. Making matters worse, McGregor landed another punch, before a staffer pulled McGregor away from the mascot. (Easy, Conor – it’s a basketball mascot, not hockey!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3n5kyhc7

• “International Axe Throwing Day”, a day to try your hand at skillfully lobbing this tree-felling instrument in a fun, competitive, and most of all, safe environment. Today, many axe throwing clubs will allow those interested to try the sport free of charge. LINK: https://worldaxethrowingleague.com/
• “Random Acts of Light Day”, encouraging us to bring light to the darkness of cancer by surprising someone with an act of kindness.
• “Pet Memorial Day”, to celebrate the lives of your pets that have died. You could make a picture collage or scrapbook of your beloved pet, or frame a favorite photo. Also consider planting a tree or other plant in their memory. You could also donate money or time to a place that helps animals.

• Horoscopes … They always tell you what to do — and are usually wrong.
• Coffee … The best ones are rich, hot, and can keep you up all night.
• Plungers … They spend most of their lives in a hardware store or the bathroom.
