Sweet Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Former “West Wing” actress Allison Janney has lost her Palm Springs, California property to foreclosure after it was taken over by the bank that holds the mortgage (she bought it at the height of the real estate boom for $3.9 million and has failed to unload it since) . . . Meantime, ‘Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling’s former Scottish home in Edinburgh, which she bought in 1999, has just sold for more than $3.2 million after just 3 weeks on the market (she moved on to a bigger castle in 2009) . . . Actor Kelsey Grammar’s ex-wife Camile has failed to attain a legal order preventing him from moving back into the home they shared during their marriage, which she’s now listed at $17.9 million, 4 times what they paid in 1998 (she gives gold-digging a bad name) . . . “Big Bang Theory” actor Kunal Nayyar is being sued by talent agency Diverse Talent Group for failing to pay them their cut since last September, a cumulative fee they now allege amounts to $100,000 (he’s got a hit show; doesn’t need them anymore) . . . Villa Azur, the Miami restaurant co-owned by French actor Olivier Martinez, has been slapped with 13 critical violations likely to ‘directly contribute to food contamination and illness’ (that comes shortly after he got slapped by Halle Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubry) . . . Speaking of which, the LA County Department of Child Protective Services is re-opening its abuse investigation involving Halle Berry & Gabriel Aubry’s daughter, Nahla, following the brawl between her father and her mother’s current boyfriend Martinez (she’s the only one not acting like a child in this mess) . . . And according to TMZ.com, actors Lindsay Lohan & Charlie Sheen became good friends on the set of “Scary Movie 5” this past September, and that’s led to Charlie paying off her overdue tax bill with the IRS – to the tune of $100,000 (hmm, wonder what was in this for him?).

ROE TO GO:
Ever found yourself in the mood for caviar but didn’t have time to stop off for some on the way to your private jet for a trip to your personal island? Voila! The perfect solution … the caviar vending machine. These newfangled machines dispense $500-per-ounce caviar along with mother of pearl spoons and all the other paraphernalia required for proper enjoyment of the delicacy. They’ve recently shown up at a trio of upscale malls in Los Angeles. (Just who would be keen on spending big bucks on caviar … from a vending machine … in a mall?)

BRAINIEST BEASTS:
Most domesticated animals don’t even make this list of smartest animals. The most intelligent in descending order …
10. Pig
9. Elephant
8. Dolphin
7. Killer Whale
6. Monkey
5. Gibbon
4. Baboon
3. Orangutan
2. Gorilla
1. Chimpanzee.
(These animals are too smart to be pets.)
– “The Journal Science”

BOT U:
The idea that machines might one day take over humanity has been featured in many sci-fi books and films. Now a center for ‘Terminator studies’, where leading academics will delve into the threat that robots pose to humanity, is set to open at Cambridge University in England. It will not only look at the dangers inherent in artificial intelligence, but 3 of the other greatest threats to humans: climate change, nuclear war, and rogue biotechnology. It’s official name will be The Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER). It’s being co-launched by astronomer and astrophysicist Martin Rees, who predicted in 2003 that the human species may wipe itself out by 2100. (Well, they seem like a cheery bunch.)

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR DRINKING TOLERANCE:
(So you don’t make an ass of yourself at a holiday party.)
✓Food –  Drinking on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster, a rookie mistake. Have yourself a big, hearty meal before the party.
✓Choose Your Booze – Red wine and darker spirits like whiskey generally contain more chemicals that can give you a headache and add to your sense of inhibition than clear drinks.
✓Just Add Water – Alcohol is a diuretic and a dehydrated brain doesn’t function as well. Water is your friend … drink a glass for every alcoholic beverage you consume.
✓Rest Up – The symptoms of exhaustion can manifest themselves in a manner similar to drunkenness. Adding alcohol to the equation only amplifies this effect.
✓Try Supplements – B vitamins are one of the first things alcohol sucks from your body. Those little pouches of Emergen-C are electrolyte-balanced and have all the B vitamins you need.
✓Caution With the Caffeine – While it’s true that caffeine will keep you more awake, it will not keep you more sober. In fact, caffeine can trick you into thinking you’re better off than you are.
✓Use Your Head – There’s a fine line between ‘life of the party’ and ‘obnoxious idiot’. Take it slow and easy, have fun, then take a friggin’ cab home.
✓Training – Alcohol is a toxin that our bodies must adapt to in order to metabolize and deal with. That kind of adaptation takes time and repetition. (Well okay, if you insist.)
