• Chris Brown – He and Drake will not face criminal charges for that brawl back in June at NYC’s WIP Club. Surveillance footage is said to be too blurry; police reports and interviews have proven inconclusive.
• Coldplay – After touring Down Under, they have a trio of North American arena dates lined up, culminating in a New Year’s Eve pairing with Jay-Z at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn NY. After that, they’ve announced they’re taking a 3-year break.
• Jonas Bros – Tonight they play the first of 2 consecutive nights at LA’s historic Pantages Theatre. The boy-band has been hard at work of late, recording a new album.
• Mariah Carey – She’s set to perform at today’s pre-taping of the 15th annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” TV special in NYC. Also performing: Rod Stewart, Trace Adkins. The edited results air tomorrow night on NBC-TV.
• Rage Against the Machine – Today “Rage Against the Machine – XX” is out, a 20th anniversary reissue of their debut album. The ‘Deluxe Box Set’ version includes 2 CDs, 2 DVDs, 1 LP, a 2-sided poster, and a 40-page booklet.
• Rihanna – She’s reportedly bowed out of a movie role in “The Fast & The Furious 6” due to scheduling difficulties. Instead, Brit singer Rita Ora will fill the role, alongside stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
• ShipRocked 2012 – The 4th annual 5-day music cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida embarks today with an extremely loud lineup that includes Black Stone Cherry, Filter, Five Finger Death Punch, Fuel, Godsmack, Helmet, KoRn, Sevendust and more.

Now a center for ‘Terminator studies’, where leading academics will delve into the threat that robots pose to humanity, is set to open at Cambridge University in England. It will not only look at the dangers inherent in artificial intelligence, but 3 of the other greatest threats to humans: climate change, nuclear war, and rogue biotechnology. It’s official name will be The Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER). It’s being co-launched by astronomer and astrophysicist Martin Rees, who predicted in 2003 that the human species may wipe itself out by 2100. (Well, they seem like a cheery bunch.)
