BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Olivia Culpo is a mom! The 33-year-old model and former Miss Universe welcomed her first baby, a girl named Colette Annalise McCaffrey, with her husband Christian McCaffrey, who is 29. The couple announced the news in a joint Instagram post. In the post, which was captioned simply with the baby’s name and a white heart emoji, black-and-white photos show Culpo in the hospital with her NFL star husband as she gives birth. ★ “Shark Tank” Season 17 has set an all-star lineup of guest Sharks. Season 17 guest Sharks include: Allison Ellsworth, Chip and Joanna Gaines, Alexis Ohanian, Kendra Scott, Michael Strahan, Fawn Weaver, and Rashaun Williams. All will appear alongside returning Sharks Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Daniel Lubetzky, and Kevin O’Leary. It was previously announced that Mark Cuban would not be returning to “Shark Tank” for the new season after 14 seasons with the show.

★ Daytime Emmy-winning newsmagazine show “Extra” has let go a number of staffers ahead of its forthcoming 32nd season. The decision is a result of an annual cataloguing that assesses staff structure and production processes and was not performance-based. It’s unclear how many workers were laid off. The news comes 2 months after host Billy Bush announced he will not be returning to the long-running syndicated entertainment news series.

★ “Jaws” icon Richard Dreyfuss was forced to drop out of SharkCon in Tampa FL, after being diagnosed with viral bronchitis. He delivered the news in a video post shared to the SharkCon Instagram on Saturday. Dreyfuss starred in Steven Spielberg’s 1975 horror masterpiece alongside Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw. In “Jaws,” the Oscar-winner played ‘Matt Hooper’, a wisecracking oceanologist and shark expert tasked with helping ‘Chief Brody’ track down the man-eater.

★ Yes, “Superman” does have a post-credits scene. Two, in fact. One shows up around the mid-credits and the second at the very end. They don’t exactly tease anything or set up future DC projects, and that’s how writer, director, and studio head James Gunn wanted it. He likened the post-credits scene to the “Howard the Duck” reveal at the end of the first “Guardians of the Galaxy”, something that was purely fun for the audience. But, he said that’s not to say future DCU projects won’t have post-credits scenes that more directly set up other movies or shows, if “it really, really works.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Justin Bieber — Scooter Braun is gushing over his new album, calling it “the most authentically Justin Bieber album to date”. Beebs’ former manager posted: “It’s beautiful, raw, and truly him.” The 2 recently settled the reported $30 million Bieber owed Braun following his cancellation of his “Justice” tour amid complications from shingles in 2023.
• Bad Bunny – was ranked #8 in the new Harper’s Bazaar list of the “hottest men of all time.” James Dean topped the list. Other musicians include Tupac Shakur at #2, Lenny Kravitz at #3, and Elvis Presley at #17.
• “Weird Al” Yankovic — It took 46 years, 14 albums, 5 Grammys and over 1,000 live renditions of ‘Fat’, but he finally took the stage at Madison Square Garden on Saturday as part of his biggest tour ever. It was an overwhelming moment for the song parody icon, and he even took a break from the carefully choreographed show after just a few songs to soak it in.
• Metallica – The US government had to delete a video from X after it used ‘Enter Sandman’ without permission. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth posted the clip promoting the country’s new approach to building military drones and cutting “bureaucratic red tape” while song played in the background. Soon after, Metallica’s lawyers had it removed. The vid was later published without the song.
• .38 Special — On Sept. 19, the Southern rock icons will release “Milestone”. The group’s first new album since 2004 will help commemorate their 50th anniversary. Guests and co-writers on the record include Pat Monahan of Train, Randy Bachman, and Jim Peterik (Survivor). The lead single, out now, is ‘All I Haven’t Said’. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5854u2hr
• Fleetwood Mac — The 50th anniversary of their 1975 self-titled album is being celebrated with the release of upgraded versions. Blu-ray Audio and High Fidelity vinyl versions will drop on Aug. 8. It was the band’s 10th studio album, and their first with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5h7y3tbf
• Morgan Wallen – Friday in Miami, he surprised fans by swapping his traditional walk-out song ‘Broadway Girls’ for ‘Miami’. But it was a remixed version of the song that appears on Wallen’s new “I’m the Problem” album. The new version features rap legends Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, and Wallen confirmed it will be released.
• Jelly Roll — stepped into the WWE ring on Friday, facing off with Logan Paul during Smackdown in Nashville. Close to a year after making his WWE debut at SummerSlam 2024, Jelly performed his song ‘Liar’, which served as the theme for last year’s SummerSlam.
• Priscilla Block – Friday, she released her reimagination of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Cecilia’, with the title ‘You’re Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)’. Released in 1970, Cecilia tells a story of love gone wrong. But Block’s new version flips the script, telling off the “other woman”. Priscilla quote: “When I heard this one, it just felt right…like a modern-day ‘Jolene’. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/rprj7c9a

SHOOTING THE BULL

MONDAY NO-FUN DAY:
If you dread Mondays, you’re definitely not alone. And a new study out of Hong Kong has confirmed what many already knew: Monday stress hits harder — and it sticks around. Researchers tracked over 3,500 adults and found that those who reported anxiety specifically on Mondays had 23% more cortisol (the stress hormone) in their system, even months later. That spike showed up even in retirees, suggesting our bodies might carry a kind of “Monday imprint.” Experts say it’s not just the job grind. It seems the shift from weekend freedom to weekday structure throws off our internal clocks. You’re going from “sleep in and snack” to “get up, get dressed, deal with traffic.” And that jolt can trigger a stress response that builds up over time – which is linked to health issues like heart disease. How to fight it? Experts suggest trying a weekly “stress inventory” – a way of spotting what you’re dreading before your body kicks into fight-or-flight mode.
(Will do. Starting next Monday – If I’m still around!)
(I don’t dread Mondays. I pre-dread them starting Friday evening!)

EAT, SLEEP, FAST:
Great news! A new study says you can stuff your face and not worry about gaining weight – if you follow one simple rule. Or at least that’s the way I’m interpreting it! Researchers in Spain found that mice who ate a super high-fat diet didn’t gain weight, as long as they followed an intermittent fasting routine. Basically, they binged for 1 or 2 days, then fasted for a day — and still saw weight control benefits, even without cutting calories. The lead researcher says this could be a game-changer for people struggling with strict diets. Early results suggest you might not even need full-day fasts — just limiting your eating to certain hours (like 12–16 hours of fasting per day) might be enough to see improvements. The mice also had better blood sugar and cholesterol levels, showing fasting could help more than just your waistline.
(Wow – Finally a diet plan I can literally sleep through!)
(So it’s not what I eat, it’s when I attack the fridge?)

AMAZON PRIMED FOR CHAOS:
Imagine getting hundreds of oversized Amazon packages that you never ordered – and then they just keep on coming for over a year. That’s what happened to “Kay,” (not her real name) a woman in San Jose, whose driveway and carport were taken over by endless boxes of faux-leather car seat covers. The culprit? A shady overseas seller on Amazon using her home as a fake return address. The products didn’t fit most buyers’ vehicles, and instead of refunding them, the seller had returns sent to Kay’s address — leaving her stuck with the piles of packages, and the buyers stuck without a refund. Or, as she put it: “This is thousands of dollars they’ve paid to send these boxes back to my house.” Despite multiple complaints to Amazon, the packages kept on arriving, and she says Amazon even suggested she should fix the issue by giving the packages away, or taking them back to USPS and FedEx. Finally, after media intervention, Amazon removed the items and promised to fix the issue for good.
(…but not before she reupholstered her entire house. Including the cat.)
(Her Amazon review: “Would give negative stars if I could find the seller. Or my front door…”)

FAKE FACTS YOU MAY HAVE BELIEVED AS A CHILD (OR STILL DO…):
BuzzFeed recently put together a collection of social media posts from people who posted the so-called “facts” or things they were led to believe as children that turned out to be less than true. Here are some of the best (or most familiar) ones…
☞ did anyone else use to believe that gum would stay in your stomach for 7 years if you swallowed it? Pls say yes or I’ll feel weird
☞ Spontaneous combustion is not nearly as big of a public health issue as I thought it was as a kid.
☞ Why did my mom make me think it was illegal to turn a light on in the car while we were driving throughout my whole childhood
☞ when I was younger I thought all dogs were boys and all cats were girls
☞ when I was a kid, I thought that the world used to be black & white until someone invented colors.
☞ Please tell me I’m not the only one that though the moon was following me when travelling at night?
☞ question for 80s babies: did y’all have an irrational fear of quicksand? Why was it in so many television shows? Where can one even find quicksand?

DID YOU KNOW?
Topics like “old people smell” and “Ozempic smell” have recently circulated on social media, sparking a renewed focus on how people’s bodies react to, and produce scents. Research shows that body odor is influenced by your skin bacteria and how it breaks down sweat. But some foods impact body odor more than others. Among the common foods that most impact one’s scent are: fish, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts), spices and red meat. Conversely, foods like apples, leafy greens, yogurt and green tea may help to neutralize odor-causing compounds. (So basically, my deodorant is fighting a losing battle against curry night?)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Be a Dork Day”, an annual excuse to wear goofy clothing, not brush your teeth, eat yucky food, and trip over your own feet. (In other words, act like me…)
• “Respect Canada Day” as declared by the US-based ‘Wellness Permission League’, to “show we know it’s not some strange northern province of America”. (…and to thank Canada for its ‘permanent loan’ to the US of the Stanley Cup!)
• “Give Something Away Day”, an opportunity to share some of your bounty, whether it be buying a meal for someone, donating clothing, or giving flowers to someone confined to their home. (#GiveSomethingAwayDay)
• “Gummi Worm Day”, celebrating the ooey-gooey candies first created by German company Trolli in 1981. ‘Gummi’ means ‘rubber’ in German.
• “Pet Fire Safety Day”, a day to consider ways to keep your 4-legged friend(s) safe from house fires. The #1 tip is to have an escape plan that includes your pets. (Some fire stations offer free Pet Fire Safety window stickers, so first responders know to look for any pets inside, in the event of a fire.)
• “Orange Chicken Day”. This Chinese-American dish is believed to have been invented in 1987 at a Panda Express restaurant. Sometimes known as orange peel chicken or tangerine chicken, it consists of chopped and battered chicken that’s fried until crispy, then coated in a sweet orange-flavored chili sauce that caramelizes like a glaze. (I drooled just a bit there…)
• “Tapioca Pudding Day”. While we observed “Tapioca Day” on June 28, today we should make it a point to enjoy it as a pudding. Or, get adventurous, and try it in soup, beverages, or baked goods.
• “I Love Horses Day”, to salute a greatly-loved animal and pet. Horses played an important part in history by helping us explore new territories, deliver mail, and have served in wars. Horses such as Silver, Trigger, and Mr. Ed have even become TV stars.
