BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ryan Reynolds has confirmed a third “Deadpool” film is in the works. He plays the title character in the Marvel Comics superhero franchise, and following the success of “Deadpool 2” and its PG-friendly spin-off last year, Reynolds has revealed that fans won’t have to wait long for a follow-up. In an appearance on “Live With Kelly and Ryan”, he said: “We’re working on it right now with the whole team.”

★ Sara Gilbert is separating from her wife Linda Perry. She filed papers for a legal separation on Friday. Gilbert lists their date of separation as Aug. 13, and cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Gilbert and Perry, who is the former frontwoman for the group 4 Non Blondes, began dating in 2011 and got engaged in April 2013 when Perry proposed with a music-themed picnic. They were married in March 2014. Perry is also known as a principle songwriter for Pink and many other artists, including Gwen Stefani and Celine Dion.

★ Just two months after Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott made amends with his ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace, the group got together with their children for a post-Christmas celebration. Spelling posted a pic of her and Eustace cuddling up for a selfie with the caption: “Something good came out of 2019.” Eustace was married to McDermott from 1993-2006 until he famously left her for Spelling — and prior to October, it had been years since they had spoken to one another.

★ Tom Hanks has been awarded honorary Greek citizenship. He and his wife Rita Wilson – who is of Greek and Bulgarian ancestry – frequently spend their summers on the Greek island of Antiparos and now the country’s president, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, has made it possible for Hanks to claim Greek citizenship. • Paramore – Singer Hayley Williams celebrated her 31st birthday Friday by announcing that she’ll release a solo project in 2020. She posted: “With the help of some of my closest friends, I made something I’m going to all my own. It’s a really special project and you’ll get a taste of it in January.”
• George Michael – His sister Melanie Panayiotou was found dead in her home on Christmas Day, three years to the day after the singer’s death. Her death is not being treated as suspicious by police. Michael left $65 million in his will to the 55-year-old makeup artist, who also used to cut her brother’s hair as she travelled with him.
• Nirvana – their 1991 song ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has reached one billion views on YouTube. That makes it the second-most-viewed 90s music video on the site, trailing Guns N’ Roses’ ‘November Rain’, which has attracted almost 1.3 billion views.
• Aerosmith — has donated some autographed gear to MusiCares charity auction. Items include Steven Tyler’s autographed microphone and stand along with his personal scarves (estimated value: $5,000 – $10,000), and an autographed Joe Perry Gibson Les Paul Signature guitar signed (estimated value: $5,000-$7,000). Proceeds from the online auction will go towards the organization’s mission to aid musicians and artists in need.
• Elton John – is among several stars to receive the New Year Honours for 2020. After receiving his knighthood in 1998 from Queen Elizabeth II, he’s been upgraded to Companion of Honour for his contributions to music and charity. Olivia Newton-John received her damehood for “services to charity, cancer research and entertainment.”
• Keith Urban – will ring in 2020 as the headliner for Nashville’s annual New Year’s Eve Music City Midnight event, and this year he’ll be joined by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks. Portions of the show will air on both CNN and NBC.
• Eric Church – has written the forward for songwriter Jeremy Spillman’s new novel “The DeVine Devils”. Church’s 2006 hit ‘Sinners Like Me’ is among the songs the two have written together.

A FAST WAY TO A LATE GRAVE:
Have you ever tried NOT to eat for 18 hours? It might not be easy, but doing so regularly could help you live longer. A review of past studies published in The New England Journal of Medicine suggests that intermittent fasting can reduce blood pressure, help with weight loss and improve longevity. How does it work? Alternating between fasting and eating can improve cellular health by forcing cells to use up their fuel stores and convert fat to energy. The report suggests that physicians prescribe fasting as a method of prevention or treatment for obesity, cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Side effects? As you might imagine, patients tend to feel hungry and irritable while fasting, but that usually passes after two weeks when the body becomes accustomed to a new eating schedule.
(I get hungry and irritable just THINKING about not eating!)
(Fine. As long as I can sleep for those 18 hours!)
(Just don’t go to Grandma’s house when you’re not supposed to be eating!)
-CNN

SAD DAD:
A new report says that like mothers, fathers should also be screened for postpartum depression in the weeks after the birth of a child. The piece, in the journal “Pediatrics”, points out that guidelines often recommend that pediatricians use well-child visits to screen mothers for postpartum depression, but fathers are rarely mentioned. And while many new dads experience depressive symptoms, few know how to identify the signs or talk about their struggles. Tova Walsh, lead author of the study, says: “In addition to the familiar symptoms of depression such as persistent sadness, loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities and trouble eating and sleeping, men may mask their symptoms by throwing themselves into work or by drinking more.” It’s estimated that 2-25% of fathers are affected.
(Maybe they’re just dreading telling “Dad jokes” for the next 50 years?)

IMPORTANT NEW INVENTIONS:
⇒ Beer maker Heineken is planning to cash-in on many peoples’ resolutions not to drink for the entire month after the New Year by selling their new “Dry January” 31-Pack. It contains one alcohol-free beer for each day of the month. And the best part (I guess) is that, for a limited time, you can get one for free. Just sign up at their website. Each can contains 69 (pointless) calories. While supplies last. (Don’t worry…supplies will last!)
⇒ The worst part of parenthood is probably that thing when you step on a LEGO brick in bare feet.  Now, the LEGO Company has come to an inventive solution with the creation of anti-LEGO slippers. At this point, you can sign up at the company’s website to become a Lego slipper tester. Plans are for them to become available to the public “soon”. (Let’s just hope they are “slip-free” slippers!)
⇒ British company “StandardToilet” has developed a toilet that discourages long bathroom breaks. The manufacturer has filed a patent for a fixture designed to increase employee productivity by discouraging people from lingering on the toilet seat. Sloping forward at an angle of 13 degrees, StandardToilet’s product is designed to make it uncomfortable to spend longer than about five minutes on it without experiencing leg strain. (Seems like a lot of effort when all they had to do was block cell phone reception!)
