BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Kate Bosworth and her husband are accused of “commandeering” sensitive film footage concerning a Native American tribe from a producer who claims he is the rightful owner, and they are allegedly refusing to give it back. Bosworth and Michael Polish were sued over a movie they were working on, called “Little Brother of War.” Producers claim Polish was only on set six days, but allegedly struck a deal with two cameramen to “commandeer” the raw footage with a plan to “release an infringing, unauthorized film of his own.”

★ Julia Roberts has mostly kept her private life to herself over the years, but in the summer, she took the plunge and made the move onto social media by opening an Instagram account. The 50 year-old says taking the plunge has helped her understand the modern world her teenage children are living in. Quote: ”I do appreciate the platform. It’s kind of fascinating…I love it to keep up with friends and see where they are … (and) as a mother of teenagers, it’s very educational.”
(And right now, her teens are abandoning Instagram because their Mom is on it!)

★ Laurence Fishburne’s daughter is accused of violating her probation by blowing off a drug test and a judge has issued a warrant for her arrest. In 2017, Montana Fishburne was arrested when she allegedly crashed her car into a vehicle that had slowed down to avoid another accident in Florida. Police took two breathalyzer tests, which both read well over the legal limit. She was hit with four charges relating to DUI. She is also accused leaving her county of residence without court approval. The warrant instructs law enforcement to arrest her on sight and bring her to court.

★ Ricky Gervais has called for an end to the suffering of primates in research. The comedian – who regularly speaks about animal welfare on his social media accounts – has called on governments around the world to end the suffering caused to monkeys and apes before they’re even subjected to experiments. Gervais said: ”I have empathy for everything – I’m hardwired to – and some people think that animals are like inanimate objects without feelings and that dogs, say, don’t feel sad. But that’s just not true.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Kanye West — may have to stick to his day job because he won’t be heading up an art classroom in Chicago anytime soon. Late Sunday night, he announced, during a flurry of tweets, that he would be teaching a course at the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art. Both institutions have denied any teaching arrangement with the rapper, and the Art Institute says “there are no plans for him to do so.”
• Post Malone – His old house in the San Fernando Valley area of California was hit by a band of armed thugs. The home was stormed by three men looking for cash and jewelry. One kept yelling, ‘Where’s Post Malone?’ One person, believed to be the new owner of the home, was pistol whipped. Malone has not lived in the house for several months.
• Queens Of The Stone Age — raised over $20,000 for Australia’s Royal Hobart Hospital’s Paediatric Ward with a show at Hobart’s MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Tasmania last week. The band also paid a visit to the hospital to meet the youngsters receiving life-saving treatment and to give them gifts.
• Guns N’ Roses – in a new interview, guitarist Slash admitted that some of their songs in the early years were “sort of sexist in their own way”. He also defended the material, saying they weren’t “malicious” and the #MeToo movement hasn’t made him second-guess the lyrics. According to him, “We didn’t have that particular [predatory] relationship with girls. It was a lot more the other way around in some cases.”
• Queen — The upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” will premiere at London’s SSE Arena, Wembley on October 23. Wembley is where Queen performed a triumphant Live Aid show in 1985, and some of the music used in the soundtrack of the film was recorded at that show.
• Brett Young — his next studio album, “Ticket to L.A.” comes out Dec. 7. The title was inspired by frequent trips back home to California, where he lived and worked prior to moving to Nashville four years ago. The album will contain a duet with pop artist Gavin DeGraw on the song ‘Chapters’. Young has not been shy about calling DeGraw his idol.
• Keith Urban – says he once had a prosthetic leg thrown at him by a fan: ‘I was at a show years ago and someone from the audience yells out … ‘Would you sign my leg?’ I was like, ‘This is a great moment, sure!’ Come on up here, I’ll sign your leg! ‘They disappeared out of sight for a second and then I could see their head again. (Then) they lob this fricken’ leg onto the stage!”
SISTERLY LOVE:
If you have a sister, you probably know that growing up, it can be sort of a love/hate relationship…often within a few minutes. But science is now saying that having a sister is plain good for you. One of the big advantages of having a sister, according to scientists who study these types of things, is that you’re likely to better express yourself and to communicate your problems more effectively, signifying positive mental health. Having a sister also teaches you love, friendship, and companionship from a very early age. If you are a male who grew up with a sister, chances are you learned early the skills necessary to communicate with women. You learn to respect women from childhood, and to understand them and be more empathetic with them.
(And if you are a female who grew up with a sister, well, at least you got to borrow her clothes…)
(OK, but I still can’t forgive her for that thing she did when I was five!)
(Yeah, it was great how she would save me from the bullies, and then beat me up!)

PLAYING INTO OVERTIME:
We all know that by being physically active, there is a good chance that we are contributing to living a longer life. But a new study says that playing tennis and other sports with a social component might add even more years to your life. The study of Danish men and women, published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, found that adults who reported frequently participating in tennis or other racket and team sports lived longer than people who were sedentary. But they also lived longer than people who took part in healthy but often solitary activities such as jogging, swimming and cycling. The study found that cycling regularly added an average of 3.7 years to riders’ lives, compared to sedentary Danes. Running was associated with an extra 3.2 years of life. But playing soccer added 5 years to players’ lives. Tennis was found to add 9.7 years of life, and badminton 6.2 years.
(But they had to spend their extra 6.2 years playing badminton!)
(How long did the people who played tennis alone live?)
(What if I don’t actually do anything, but I do it in a social setting, is that good?)

SWEAT DREAMS:
Quick! How often do you wash your bed sheets? Probably not often enough – and it could be triggering allergies and other problems, according to experts with IFLScience. They found that over the course of a year, your bed is soaked in up to 100 litres of sweat, plus about a pound of skin – making it an ‘ideal fungal culture medium’. Your bed also probably contains bacteria, soil, sweat, sputum and a bunch of other things that I’m not even going to get into, because if I do, you aren’t going to want to get into your bed. And your pillow? It can alone can hold up to sixteen species of fungus. Scientists say that you should wash your sheets and pillow case weekly – because that’s enough time for the build-up of filth to become ‘significant’.
(Maybe I would wash them more often if I had a clue how to put a fitted sheet back on!)
(Yeah, but it’s MY fungus!)
(Phew…I’m glad I do most of my sleeping on the couch!)

STUDY SAYS:
☞ People who bring leftovers home from a restaurant end up eating more calories, and exercising less. The very act of bringing food home leads people to believe that they haven’t had as much to eat, so they tend to reward themselves by eating unhealthy snacks, and are less likely to work exercise into their schedule. (Well, I DID take the doggy bag for a walk, didn’t I?)
-DailyMail
☞ 78% of employees say that access to natural light and views improve their well-being, and 70% say it improves their work performance. 47% of workers believe that absence of natural light makes them feel tired, and 43% say it makes them feel gloomy. Employees say natural light is most important to them than other work-perks such as fitness centers or onsite cafeterias or childcare. (I believe most of these workers actually said that some ‘Natural Light’ BEER would improve their work performance…)
