Bullseye!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Leonardo DiCaprio is rumored to be set to play The Joker in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming origin film.   Last week, we learned that Warner Bros. is planning on making a movie chronicling The Joker’s origin story.  What really made the news noteworthy was the fact that Martin Scorsese is attached as producer.  Some people found it unusual that Scorsese would be connected to a franchise film like this one, but it appears his involvement is part of a longer play on the studio’s part. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner is hoping that with Scorsese aboard, DiCaprio will agree to take on the role of Batman’s nemesis.  The two have collaborated on five films together, and the plan could be for Leo to continue in the Joker role under Scorsese for future Batman and Joker installments.
(Quick!  Name another DiCaprio movie that had a sequel or spin-off.  Nada.)

★ ‘Indiana Jones 5′ won’t feature Shia LaBeouf’s character (Mutt Williams). According to screenwriter David Koepp, Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones, and that’s all he can say.  Koepp has written a script for the fifth film in the storied Indiana Jones franchise, and he does confirm that LaBeouf’s character is not in the film. ‘Indiana Jones 5′ is set for release in 2020.
(Although it will have a much longer title by then!)

★ Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom spent the weekend paddleboarding. Together.  The on again, off again couple were seen catching some waves during the Labor Day holiday. They officially split back in March but they have been seen together occasionally since, fueling speculation they are back together. That comes after Katy admitted she likes having Orlando in her life.

★ Sylvester Stallone is hinting that ‘Creed 2’ will start production next year. Sly shared a post on his official Instagram account showing co-star Michael B. Jordan – who played Apollo Creed’s son Adonis Creed 2015 film – in character in a boxing ring and the caption indicates that Jordan is in training for his return in the role.  Dolph Lundgren is also expected to appear in the film, reprising his ‘Ivan Drago’ character from ‘Rocky IV’.

★ Bill Skarsgard wants his Pennywise character in Stephen King’s ‘It’ movie to traumatize moviegoers. According to Skarsgard, “It’s more than just a scary movie.  People are going to be surprised by how emotionally invested they will get in the characters.” ‘It’ is expected to be one of the biggest box office hits of the fall.  Look for ‘It’ on Friday.

MARIJUANA: THE SECRET TO QUICKER KNEES?
Smoking pot can affect the way your knees, elbows and shoulders move when you are walking, a new study has found.  The study, from the University of South Australia, found that there are differences between the way marijuana users and non-users walk.  Specifically, marijuana users have stiffer shoulders, more flexible elbows and quicker knees, which move faster than those of non-users, while walking.  While differences in their movements were detected, there were no significant differences between the balancing abilities and neurological functions of users and non-users.
(This is too good!  You’re telling me that marijuana users have different joints?)
(Why are users’ shoulders stiffer?  From trying to hold it in while saying “Ere!”)
(Of course it affects how you walk.  If it didn’t, you’d be mad!)

OH SNAP!  A HELLA BOMB NEW SHOW:
Could you survive with just 1990’s technology?  That’s the object of the game in a new MTV competition show called ‘90s House’.  Christina Milian and Lance Bass (in parachute pants) will host the show, where a group of 12 tech-addicted millennial housemates will live together in a ’90s-inspired home, forcing the contestants to unplug their modern-day devices and exist with only the technology available in the 1990s.  Housemates will face elimination by competing in various ’90s-themed challenges featuring catch phrases, fashion and of course, guest cameos, including from Mario Lopez, Michelle Williams, Joey Fatone, and Joey Lawrence.  Prizes include $90,000, tickets aboard a 90s cruise, and a Mazda Miata.  Not a Miata from the 90s.  I think.  ‘90s House’ premieres September 26.
(I’m going to TiVo it…just to spite them!)
(I’m way ahead of them.  My car is from the 90s.  Plus I haven’t been able to figure out any of the features on my TV that were invented since then!)
(Why do I have the feeling we’ll be hearing the dreaded sound of ‘dial-up’ internet more than once?)

I ONLY RUN WHEN THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS LEAVING:
When you see the pained look on the face of a long-distance runner, you certainly HOPE that it is doing that person some good.  And you would figure that it does, but we never knew how much good.  Until now.  According to a report in ‘Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases’, running adds THREE YEARS to your life.  And that is what you can expect if you run, regardless of age, weight, or how fast or how far you go.  Other vigorous workouts increase lifespan, but nothing beats running, which lowers your risk of dying by 40 per cent.  The study also says that for each hour you jog, you can expect to add an extra seven hours on to your life.
(Seven hours for every hour you jog?  I believe we have just found the secret to immortality!)
(If you see ME running, call the police!)
(My doctor told me that jogging would add years to my life, and he was right.  I already feel about 10 years older!)

THINGS WE DO THAT DOGS HATE:
☹ Using words more than body language:  Dogs might be able understand some words, but what they rely on to figure out what we mean is our body language.
☹ Hugging:   Most dogs hate hugs. Rather than camaraderie, if a dog places a foreleg or paw on the back of another dog, this is considered an act of dominance
☹ Petting a dog’s face or patting her head:  Like hugging, many dogs will put up with this if it’s someone they know and trust, but most dogs don’t enjoy it.
☹ Walking up to a strange dog while looking her in the eye:  When you look a strange dog right in the eye, unblinking, you might be smiling and trying to warm up to them but the dog is probably reading it as an act of dominance or even aggression.
☹ Not providing structure and rules:  Dogs want, need and love rules. Dogs really want to know what’s what according to their leader.
☹ Forcing your dog to interact with dogs or people she clearly doesn’t like:  Read the body language she gives you when she doesn’t want to be around certain other individuals and don’t force it.
☹ Going for walks without opportunity to explore and smell:  it’s important to allow a dog to have some time to explore her surroundings.  Dogs see with their noses, and they place as much importance on their sense of smell as we place on our sense of vision for interpreting the world around us.
☹ Being boring:  If your dog is making trouble — getting into boxes or closets, eating shoes or chewing on table legs — she’s basically showing you just how incredibly bored she is.
(The thing I do that my dog hates is finish my dinner!)
