BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ariana Grande was allegedly a ‘nightmare’ during the “Stand Up to Cancer” TV fundraiser on Friday night because of her diva antics backstage. The 21-year-old reportedly warned the lighting crew that if they used red spotlights she would go berserk. Then she kept everyone waiting while other stars came in and did their thing. When she caught one poor guy grimacing, she barked, ‘Who the f— do you think you’re looking at?” She later stormed off again, unhappy with her outfit. On camera, however, she gave an emotional performance of “My Everything”, in honor of her grandfather who recently died of cancer.

★ Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks with the producers of “True Detective” (HBO) for the lead female role in the 2nd season of the Emmy Award-winning show. The 35-year-old Canadian actress is not the only star reportedly being considered. Other names in the mix include Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”) and Michelle Forbes (“The Killing”). The role is described as a ‘no nonsense sheriff’. It is thought there will be 4 leads, 3 of which are male. Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn are said to be in final negotiations for those parts.

★ Bruce Springsteen has been recruited by his E Street Band colleague Steven Van Zandt to appear in the upcoming season of the Netflix drama “Lilyhammer”. ‘The Boss’ is poised to make his acting debut in the series, which stars Van Zandt as a New York mobster who goes into hiding in rural Lillehammer, Norway after testifying against his former associates. In episodes for the 3rd season shot in NYC, Van Zandt plays a priest while Springsteen takes on the role of a funeral home owner. A release date for Season 3 has yet to be announced.

★ And last night the 4th annual “Streamy Awards”, the show honoring the best of online video, streamed live from LA’s Beverly Hilton. Rapper Pitbull, beauty & fashion vlogger Michelle Phan, YouTube vlogger Tyler Oakley, and YouTube star Shay Butler (aka Shay Carl) took home the 1st ‘Icon Awards’, recognizing the creators who have made tremendous contributions to their communities through online video and social media. YouTube stars Grace Helbig & Hannah Hart hosted Sunday’s show.

• Alabama – The country legends are going the gospel route with today’s release of “Angels Among Us: Hymns & Gospel Favorites: Deluxe Edition”, distributed exclusively via the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store chain and online at crackerbarrel.com.
• Ciara – The R&B singer has reportedly reconciled with her rapper fiancé Future just weeks after they called off their engagement. They split in August, three months after she’d given birth to their first child. A new report suggests they’re working on the relationship for the sake of their young son, Future Zahir Wilburn.
• Gotye – The “Somebody That I Used to Know” singer-songwriter has formed his own political party, recruiting members of his backup band to form the Basics Rock ‘n Roll Party (aka ‘BRRP’). They’re planning to run in Australia’s upcoming Victoria state elections November 29.
• Lady Gaga – After spending time with boyfriend Taylor Kinney on the set of his TV show “Chicago Fire”, she entertained a ritzy New York Fashion Week party hosted by “Harper’s Bazaar”, berating attendees “Will you f—ing shut up? We’re playing some jazz” before adding, “Goddamn rich people.”
• Led Zeppelin – In a move that will delight precisely zero rock fans, they’re collaborating with suit-maker Paul Smith on a line of … scarves (?!?!). You can now buy a scarf especially designed to commemorate each Led Zep album. This will likely go over like a Led balloon.
• Radiohead – Drummer Phil Selway tells “NME” that the Brit band plans to reconvene in the coming weeks to start work on new material. The band has been on hiatus for the past 18 months.
• Shakira – She’s launching her 4th perfume, a new fragrance called ‘Rock!’, that comes in a gold bottle shaped like an electric guitar. The exact release date for Shakira’s new scent has yet to be revealed.

PASS THE VEG:
The brain can be trained to enjoy healthy food, new research suggests. Scientists at Tufts University and Massachusetts General Hospital say that conditioning the brain to prefer healthy foods over additive calorie-laden fare happens over time in response to repeatedly eating a nutritious diet. After 6 months on a healthy diet, MRI scans from a test group have revealed increased sensitivity to healthy, low-calorie foods in the brain’s reward center associated with addiction and learning, indicating an actual increase in enjoyment of healthy foods. In contrast, the scans have revealed decreased interest in junk food. It’s thought to be the first demonstration of this healthy switch in preference. (Sorry, people. Craving eggplant is going take more than 6 months.)

The notion that homes could be fueled by human waste might not be very appealing but it could transform people’s lives in developing countries. British scientists have already proved they can charge a phone by using urine to feed microbial fuel cells. And they aim to scale up their innovation to provide much needed electricity, heat, and light through smart bathroom systems designed to be used in remote and poverty-stricken areas of the world. The research is backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is hoping to help create a fully-functional system that could be installed in bathrooms to collect urine, which would then be used to light and heat the home, as well as power electronic gadgets. (There are dogs in our neighborhood that could power an entire city.)

● According to a study published by the AMA, older men are more likely to suffer heart attacks on their birthdays. (So if you have a wealthy uncle with a heart condition, this might be a good year to throw him a surprise party!)
● When it comes to reading the subtleties of emotion, women are the stronger sex, according to “Psychology Today”. While men almost always correctly recognize happiness in a female face, they pick up on distress only 70% of the time. A woman’s face has to be really sad in order for men to see it.
● The mere threat of being awakened can disrupt sleep. A study published in “American Health” identifies ‘on-call syndrome’, the fitful sleep that afflicts emergency workers, medical students, and doctors. These occupations lose an average of 1½ hours sleep whenever they are on-call, even if their services aren’t needed.
