BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ They’re not “Bratajkowski” just yet — but “stay tuned.” Brad Pitt and Emily Ratajkowski have been out a few times together, according to sources, but are not officially dating. There has been speculation online that Pitt and Ratajkowski — who filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, earlier this month — have been “secretly dating.” But a Hollywood insider with knowledge of the situation told Page Six: “People have been speculating about this for a while. Brad is not dating anybody. They have been seen a couple times together.” The source notes that Pitt has also “been seen with other people” in recent months and that he is not dating anyone in particular. However, the movie insider cryptically added:  “Stay tuned.”

★ Chris Rock doesn’t appear to be interested in hosting an awards show after the Oscars slap controversy. He has apparently turned down an offer to host the Golden Globes. And that’s not the first hosting gig he has said “no” to. In August, Rock said during a show in Phoenix that he turned down a chance to host the Oscars in 2023. According to Matt Belloni’s Puck Newsletter, Rock was offered a “ton” of money to host the Golden Globes. But, he reportedly passed on the offer, so producers “have moved on” in an effort to hire someone else. Rock has also shared that he turned down an offer to appear in a Super Bowl ad pertaining to the incident.

★ There’s a new favorite to be the next ‘James Bond’, now that it’s been explained exactly what producers are looking for. Last week, Barbara Broccoli said Daniel Craig had “cracked Bond open emotionally” and that same quality would be required of future 007s, as well as a 10-12 year commitment. That pretty much eliminates previous fav Idris Elba, due to his age. But according to the bookies, the clear favorite to become the next Bond is now…Henry Cavill, who has long been another popular choice among Bond fans to succeed Craig. Oddsmakers say Cavill’s next closest rival for the role is “Bridgerton “star Regé-Jean Page, with Tom Hardy and James Norton also listed as frontrunners.

★ Kate Moss is selling products made out of…sea moss. A few weeks ago, the supermodel launched her Cosmoss wellness brand, and is now planning to release her “medicinal” beauty products line, containing Chondrus crispus, which is more commonly known as Irish moss or carrageen moss. Documents obtained by the Sunday Mirror claim that she’ll be selling “moss for medicinal purposes” amongst a host of other cosmetic products.

SHOOTING THE BULL

HOMEWORK FROM HOME:
Is it part of your nightly routine to help your kids with their homework? If so, you might want to rethink that. New US research says that if your children are able to tackle their homework alone, parents should put down the pencils and let their kids do the work. According to the study, it doesn’t matter if the parent has a high school diploma or a graduate degree, helping kids with their homework doesn’t help them learn effectively. In fact, your help may be doing the opposite. In the study, kids who had help actually showed cognitive loss — not remembering what they learned at school, adverse effects on home emotional climate (fighting with parents to complete homework), and deferred responsibility (not doing their work because they know mom or dad will do it for them). What can parents do to support their kids with their homework? Instead of “helping,” create a quiet place where they can work, have all necessary supplies on hand, and a designated time every day for them to do their homework.
(…and good luck with THAT!)
(Besides, I have no idea what’s going on with the weird ways they teach kids to solve math problems these days…)

FUNNY THINGS ABOUT MONEY:
Most people have a magical amount in their head, believing “if only” they had that much money, they’d be truly happy. But it seems it’s not quite as easy as that. When they reach that number, the target changes and becomes higher. That’s human nature. Here are 2 overarching truths about money and happiness…
• Earned money results in higher levels of happiness:  This is true at all income levels but is especially true for the highest earners. Coming into a windfall, such as an inheritance, quick stock-option wealth, or winning a lottery, is unlikely to give you the happiness that earning your affluence brings.
• How you spend money also influences happiness:  Research shows that spending money on others results in greater satisfaction and joy than spending it only on yourself. While we may believe that we will gain happiness from retail therapy, indulging, or rewarding ourselves, happiness actually increases when we spend money on others. Even spending small amounts on others, including strangers and those in need, increases our happiness and life satisfaction.
(…and if you’d like some assistance in proving that last point, I’m free for lunch…!)
(I’ve gotta take exception to that first point about an inheritance not necessarily making you happy. I mean, it depends on who died…!)

SEARCH ME:
For those concerned about their personal information appearing online (and that should be everybody), you’ll be happy to know that Google is releasing a tool that makes it easier to remove search results containing your address, phone number and other identifiable information. The “Results About You” feature is described as a way to “help you easily control whether your personally-identifiable information can be found in search results.” If you see a result with your phone number, home address or email, you can click on the three-dot menu at the top right, then click the new “Remove result” option. There, you’ll be informed that if the result contains one of those 3 things, Google “can review your request more quickly.” You can then monitor the request in a new menu item in the Google app called “Results About You”. So far, the new feature has only rolled out to limited users in the US and Europe. In the meantime, you can remove other personally identifiable information from Google Search via a removal request.
(I’d much rather have a way to erase the personal information that my NEIGHBORS know about me…)
(Who’s the dummy who didn’t decide to call this thing “Google Search and Destroy”?)

MISHEARD WORDS:
If there is one common human experience, it’s getting the lyrics wrong in a song. Someone in a Reddit community asked the question: “What’s a song lyric that you completely misheard for a while?” The answers did not disappoint…
• “I always thought ‘She Will Be Loved’ by Maroon 5 said “ask her if she wants to stay alive”. It actually says “ask her if she wants to stay awhile”.
• Another thought Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’ said “Starbucks lovers” instead of “long list of ex-lovers”. But hey, it’s pumpkin spice season, so ‘Starbucks lovers’ kind of works.
• “Dido. ‘White Flag!’ I was singing for years: “I will poke my eyes out and surrender” (rather than “I won’t put my hands up and surrender”).
• “I got shoes, they’re made of plywood.” The correct words in the “Grease” song are: “I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying” (‘You’re the One That I Want’).
• One person wrote that they thought TLC sang “don’t go Jason waterfalls” in their hit song ‘Waterfalls’. (Jason Waterfalls might be a pretty cool dude. But we’ll never know…)
• And perhaps least understandably of all, someone apparently spent a sizeable portion of their life singing “Pour Some Shook-Up Ramen” rather than “Pour Some Sugar on Me”. (Still tasty, though…)
(As far as I’m concerned, if I sing a song in the shower, it’s correct!)
(What can you add to the list?)

DID YOU KNOW?
A new, purple tomato is expected to hit grocery store shelves soon. The USDA has approved the genetically modified purple tomato, clearing the path for it to be sold in American stores next year. In addition to its unique color, the purple tomato also has more health benefits and a longer shelf life than garden variety red tomatoes, according to scientists. In fact, cancer-prone mice that ate them lived around 30% longer than those that ate normal tomatoes, according to a study.

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Morning Show Hosts Day”, dedicated to watching and showing appreciation for hosts of morning TV shows. (But we’re going to be quiet about that, and just say that it’s all about RADIO morning show hosts…)
• “Ancestor Appreciation Day”, a day to learn about and appreciate one’s forebears. (Hey, without them, you wouldn’t be here!)
• “Chocolate Milk Day”, something unheard of until the Van Houten company in Holland invented a cocoa pressing method in 1828. In 2006, a study determined that chocolate milk is a better post-workout recovery drink than white milk, water, or most sports drinks.
• “Corned Beef Hash Day”, Hash is a culinary term for a mixture of foods that have been finely chopped or diced. Corned beef hash is not only a delicious comfort food, it’s also easy to make. There are no rules regarding what to include, but diced potatoes and corned beef is pretty important.
• “World Tourism Day”, as declared by the UN’s World Tourism Organization. The 2022 theme: “Rethinking Tourism” LINK:  https://www.unwto.org/world-tourism-day-2022
• “Crush a Can Day”, to remind everyone to do their part in recycling. Here are some “canned facts”:
⇒ If you laid all the aluminum cans recycled in 2010 end to end, they would circle the earth 169 times.
⇒ In America, 105,800 cans are recycled every minute.
⇒ There is no limit to the amount of times an aluminum can, can be recycled.
⇒ Your television can run for 3 hours from the energy saved by recycling one can.
⇒ Aluminum cans are worth about a penny each.
⇒ More aluminum goes into beverage cans than any other product.
